This title is _so_ relatable, as I've made nearly every *Beginner's TH-cam Mistake* known to human kind. Making TH-cam Videos since back when I was only 13 years old... Deleting and recreating my TH-cam Channel _so many_ times... it feels like nostalgia, as I've been making videos since July 2014! 😇😇
Not saying this level of youtube success is unwarranted, but if you're not prepared to acknowledge that she's a pretty woman with an interesting life (being independently wealthy enough to do the "off grid on grid" glamping in a van) then you're not seeing the unfair advantage for the trees.
Completely agree! But also she leans into her advantages pretty hard! Not saying she shouldn't, but it's the most obvious reason for her success.
I think it depends on your topic. Everyone has some kind of advantage, you just need to find the topic where you can use yours. All kinds of old, ugly men are also successful on TH-cam, just in different areas. I'm myself 60, fat and have a foreigner's accent, but I also had one successful video a while ago, and now I have 4k subscribers making philosophy videos. Being an older man can give you an aura of education and authority that a younger person might not have. So instead of being envious of others' advantages, I think everyone should try to discover their own niche, where what they can bring to the table is just the right thing. I believe that everyone has the ability to attract an audience, but one needs to compete in the right game.
Thanks for interviewing her about her channel, what I admire about her content is that she discloses all her friends that help her out, it is not all about her.
I just started making YT vids about two months ago and have since made a stunning discovery, people have different tastes and sometimes gravitate more towards the videos you'd least expected. So, my advice to creators, just put it all out there with pride. You never know...
I didn't think the poem was cringey at all - my takeaway here is that, basically, her hook was the EMOTION. There are lots of techniques and hacks we can use for an intro, but at the end of the day, it's all about having an intro which invokes an emotional response.
I am following the rules as best I can. And I am still suffering. Granted, I am a new channel, but I still don't feel like I am doing well enough.
You got this, man!
Just get 1% better every day!
@@darlenefraser3022 I'll try my best! ♥
My best advice is watch all that IQ videos. They are amazing and they will teach you anything. You can also search in their search tool bars for your common mistakes or what you need help with most with your channel and they will help you like reading the terms and conditions is one and keeping up the good work also how to fix you videos and become better at making video uploading and editing choosing how to publish them as well
Me too.. Doing everything right but I'm not really seeing the subs. I've put up 90 organic videos and stock on 560 sub...
Thank you for introducing this creator.🌟 She is cool in her soul. Everything in the video, the music, the scenes, the story, the voiceover, are just like my close friend talks to me. Love her. Subscribed.💖
On 68 subs. I'm growing so fast, all thanks to you guys! :)
Congratulations
It gets easier after you hit your first 100.
@@aceishere yeah, my friend reached 100 hundred 4 days ago, and they are almost at 200 already :)
@@antno_2064 thank you!

Story telling is more important than edits and video quality. Audio gotta be good though!
Exactly
I’d love to do an interview with Vid IQ to talk about my experience growing as a faceless gaming creator 😃
Great video! I believe the key is to BE YOURSELF.
In our last long form video I took a risk and didn't edit out some "deeper" conversation about freedom. I was terrified when I hit publish that it would go down like a lead balloon, but the opposite has been true - it has just about a 100% like rate and it's bringing in new subscribers who know me on a more profound level.
Do what you believe to be right, and you will find your people, no matter how isolated you might feel when you're about to hit "Publish".
God bless and fair winds to all my fellow creators out there.
Chris 👍
I pray that everyone who reads this becomes successful with their TH-cam channel 🙏
Amen
And yourself, my friend.
73 subs. Every vidIQ video I watch helps me improve😊
Haha bro 😂
Congratulations
What a great episode! You guys are having the best guests! Pumped for the next one!
Also that coach jenn is super cute!
This woman has figured it out I have been watching her videos for ever and this is not something I would have ever thought I would be watching. Love her and her story 😊
That is exactly what i do and I doubted myself but to see someone else do it just makes me feel even more inspired
now THIS is refreshing
Once again, it's really interesting and cool seeing the more simple editing style making a comeback on TH-cam. Shooting your videos and images with just your phone is amazing. Great interview and analysis!
This woman knows what she's doing. The narration as the cinematography in those clips they showed are a masterclass! Her approach is very different from me as a creator and I like it. It inspires me because the videos I'm putting out now are about to be so honest, I'm almost afraid to put them out. The slow burn of her videos is also inspiring. And then the other thing. She looks like Angelina Jolie in 1992! 😍 Another great video, guys!
It's great to see a video by Travis!
I really liked how you guys did this. Allysa is truly inspirational!
This was helpful, thanks!
This is so inspiring, well done!
OMG thanks for featuring her 🤩 It gives us confidence that it's OKAY to break some of the rules 😃 And the thumbnail thing... LOVE IT!! That's how our thumbnails are created (click rate 5-15%) AFTERWARDS 😃 BOOM new channel to follow. THANKS 😊
Love her channel! She is so relatable! I think thats were she shines with her viewers.
Have been a subscriber a long time (when she was in her van). Love her realness and transparency. Such an awesome TH-camr. ❤🎉
Snap. I’m 5 years in (770k subs) and I still use an iPhone today. Keep going, you can do it.
I'm sometimes overwhelmed with all the 'Tips' I'm doing what comes naturally.... I'll build my community one Sub at a time....as I build they will find me ..... I'm 95 strong and growing.....It feels great!...
Same, I don’t even watch these videos, because it’s complicated! Good luck 🍀!
Close to that 100!!! Once you hit that it will get easier trust me
Absolutely love this interview so many golden nuggets ❤
Really awesome to see someone pushing the boundaries, love it.
As a professional storyteller, I feel like the advice of this particular video might be the thing that moves me forward.
This was a great concise against the grain interview. Thanks for sharing
Is The Boost a new format? I haven’t seen one of these yet. What a great interview. Thanks for sharing this content. 🎉👍🏾
I loved her instant when i heard she don't care of the analystics and she don't care of the niches, just like i do, i do what please me lol, why to make my chanel something i do not like ,and also the analytics give headache, to not mention TH-cam is broken, when you have new chanel they motivate you as you grow. Then once you have like 50-100 subs they start to say everything you do is quite weak, but you can't expect peoples to subscribe to you everyday when you're new chanel..
What She is doing is what Im trying now, I was doing heavily edited video's and waisting time because it was the less edited video's that got the most views. Im going for completely unedited videos, 30 minutes long to see if being more authentic and just talking and keeping the mistakes and living with them.
Funny thing that people aren’t realising, is that she does have a niche.
I don’t see her breaking any of the rules.
She’s just breaking what YOU think are the rules. 🤷🏻♂️
Her niche is: to follow her journey of self discovery, and to live life without regrets.
That is her niche. You’re following her life journey. And yes, it’s very difficult to pull that type of niche off.
You’re mistaking it for: upload any random video and subject you want. But that’s not what she is doing.
@@jamieredgate602 Well that's however there are channels like "Camping with Steve" who has basically been doing the exact same style of channel and speaking to the audience like they are with Him. His channel is the biggest camping channel and He even got Me binge watching his videos because He comes across as a real honest nice man, He makes it feel like your with him and He brings other life things in around camping. His channel however is a camping vloging channel, so the featured women in this video is different because there is no target audience.
Love this. So creative 🙌
Informative video really helped
great video helped a lot as always 😁
It doesn't hurt that she's super hot and YT is full of simps. And I am not being a smart aleck. It's a factor that can't be not discussed.
I always expect the unexpected with Lyss and always look forward to seeing her!!
Thank you for sharing these insights! She was a trained, educated professional before she broke the rules which is an approach with wisdom.
People keep saying she broke the rules, but I didn’t see her break any. 🤷🏻♂️
She’s breaking what YOU think are the rules.
She’s a fantastic creator though, and it’s because she’s using advanced techniques that people can’t necessarily see the basic techniques and “rules” that she’s following.
Almost 500🌳💕
Congratulations
Congratulations we will get there also ❤😊
LOVE Alyssa and her channel. She's SO talented, genuine, talented, kind, talented, brave and...talented. I see her next adventure as an author. Gifted storyteller. Glad you recognized her...talent.
ayo this is me
on a phone
not on a single niche
YEEEES! This episode had some amazing little gems. Love the tip about the intended facial expression, what she said is so true. Or sometimes, you just want to click into it because you're not sure what she's feeling - mastering human CURIOSITY is super smart. At this point, YT is literally about human psychology, but wait, that's the case with selling anything. Sorry, don't me, just talking to myself.
Informative . Thank you :)
So basically, imagine everyone as a child (grown up though, but still a child), similar to how the little kids' programs always ask the kids who watch them to "join in" to do this and that. Play along basically, just like Dora the Explorer. I'm an adult, but once in a while, when my nephew watches Dora the Explorer and she asks the viewer(s) to point to what she's looking for, I actually play along sometimes. Hahahaha.
Glad I've found this video! ❤
She's amazing :D
so intresting interview as well :)
If you are watching this video, keep working your success is near
Thank you for encouraging it helps us pushing ❤
Storytelling is the greatest way to go with TH-cam! 🎉
This is different advice. I like it!
I've also opened with a poem or book quotes.. I think it makes sense for a channel talking about books.. and I've never seen anyone else ever do it. I do it regularly so hopefully it becomes part of my "brand".
It’s a visual world and if your upbeat and outgoing, you’ve got a winning combination.
Throw in a background in marketing and PR and you are way ahead of the pack.
The part about thumbnails resonates so much with me. As a writer, I always want the thumbnail to be connected with my story, to be a part of it, and to do that, I need to finish the story first (because I'm not always sure how the story will end). Great to know I'm not the only one going opposite way )
Yeah, I’ve ALWAYS disagreed with this advice.
VidIQ, Think Media, Creator Booth and many more, they all say make your thumbnail first. But it’s never made sense to me to do that, and I still disagree.
Title (or a good idea about the title first) yes, but not thumbnail.
By the way Nik, I didn’t see you in the comments of the last VidIQ thumbnail audits the other day.
Did you see you were picked?
@@jamieredgate602 I know, but there wasn't much to say about my channel (which is true due to specific niche), and I was on the work trip, so I went to sleep soon after being picked )
@@jamieredgate602 I'm not totally disagree, it's just it doesn't fit my content well. Though sometimes I had the thumbnail ready even before my story is finished.
Her content is amazing
I too have had old videos that were 10-10 take off and get up to a million views of over a year.
Good luck to everyone! I haven't niched down because I'm having too much fun making all types of Hawaii videos.
Hope it works out in the end.
My entire channel is made and edited on smartphones. Hoping to hit 50k subs by the end of the month 😊
Storytelling is really one of the lost arts on most TH-cam channels
@@SinkingLetterStudio I mean like having continuity from one vid to the next, and there being more than visible improvement, but also character showed. YTers have to show what makes them human to connect with an audience so that they’ll actually follow them.
@@SinkingLetterStudio of course English is my first language. I’m a college student. And, what I’m saying is that TH-camrs shouldn’t just focus on improving quality of their videos from one to the next, but also have continuity in their content, so that they form inside jokes or something that they can attach to with the audience. That way, they’ll have more of a following for who they are as a creator, and not just for their content. It’s good to have people watch your videos for what you show, but to have people actually enjoy watching because of *you* is an added bonus, as seen by the content creator featured in the video we’re watching.
Love her channel and her!
I wanna try this
I click the thumbnail thinking it was a Colin and Samir video 😅
Great content nevertheless
I literally broke all of those rules, even though I mostly make digital content. I do make weird IRL stuff sometimes and use my phone.
was about to say lets go first cuz 45 seconds ago but 8 people already commented thats crazy
😂😂😂😂
I deleted some videos on my channel, then I got no views when I upload again. 0 views in 24 hours. What can I do do to make sure I get back on track?
Someone said the intro of my last video was the most cringe they've ever seen, but I don't care. I "own the cringe" and it's always worth experimenting.
Yes, thanks for mentioning pace. Please do a couple videos on pace for different niches. Im starting in lived experience mental health struggles and meditation/mindfulness. My audience does not want high energy, fast paced videos. I think, even in education, fast paced, with no breaks fries the brain in info dense videos.
My first 50SUBS :D Your channel is helping me so much.
Thanks
Hey VIDIQ 😃👋
"Every viewer is a human". Yes, every subscriber is not a number to count but a person to consider as you are creating what it is you are sharing from you to them.
Hello..I m a small channel, starting to upload for fun ..drawing..as a hoby of regular job...Is it ok to upload daily to grow or every 2,3 days?..or to quit?..
Help is appreciated😀
How to have a successful YT channel. Step 1: Be ridiculously gorgeous. Step 2: See step 1 😂 But seriously, after watching the interview I got an appreciation for all the other things that go into making a compelling YT story.
The words "you" and "we" depends on the cultural context. For western people with their individualistic ideals, "we" seems strange. But in the East, "we" is natural. Using "we" is something we do naturally. It just happens. (I don't do my work in English. Its in my own language)
Just keep posting videos to grow. Nothing happens before the time
That’s what I do aha
I have 115 subscribers and 495 hours. Will I be able to reach the monetization goal until at the end of the year? I started on March 23
Thats’s awesome to hear @regretlyss1! I’m trying the same method. I do to many things to be in a niche! Going to check your channel out now 🙌
I'm gonna watch this video because I love what VidIQ does, but the honest truth is you can get away with more when you're attractive. Just like the lady Life With Riza. It makes a difference. We can say all day that it doesn't matter but it's a factor. That's not to say that her content isn't relatable to her viewers, but the looks draw you in first for guys and some of the women too. On the guy side, no one would care how authentic Sam Sulek is if he wasn't freakin' jacked! It's a great card to play if you can play it.
Epic

Stick to it and don’t give up bro
Natural talent trumps any rule out there. For 99% of creators Im thinking following the rules are probably the correct format. For that 1% that has it figured out I am betting the rules don't apply. Good for her.
This is not good but great!
I do the Thumbnails last, and My new videos are completely unedited and long, just talking about making music while showing the screan capture behind Me.
I've seen many channels like this blow up....... but for some reason they are always hosted by attractive young ladies.......... interesting, so I just need to be one of those.....
She’s lucky I try and try and just can’t gain subs and viewers and my content is super diff also that’s what I like about her she is very unique
But my channel is not growing
there is nothing wrong on doing everything on your phone while doing a video. Phones are more than capable these days. I still record on mine till this day. The vlog style ones that is.
Good
Idk why I don't get any impressions. I put out my first 2 videos and 1 short in the last week, but I don't get ANY impressions, therefore I don't get any views. I tried it with many tags, then with less tags, but nothing worked. Any ideas?

Hi🙋♂️vidiQ❤
Being pretty and a girl does help on social media. I don’t think a lot of people like saying that part out loud. No hate, just sayin
VidIQ can't really teach you to become an attractive woman, so they have to skip this one and settle with explaining what comes after.
Her videos look nice and creative though. She's doing a great job. And well, you gotta use your advantages in life, fair or not.
@@cedricol you’re not wrong. I follow their tips all the time. Including making quality thumbnails…which they seemed to follow their own methods on this one haha
I don't agree with that. There are lots of pretty women and they don't all get tons of views.
