This movie is Titanic for men. If it helps, John is always obeyed. He's just so soft spoken and patient it's easy to miss. And when John decides to take action anyone who tries to stop him just sort of stands back after a moment.
There's no knowing how old John is. He has scars that strongly suggest he was beaten with a whip when he was a child; but how long ago was he a child?
He may be only able to die by a profound injury. If John had wanted a different outcome at his trial, he could have made it happen.

@@dionysiacosmos It didn't really dawn on me how much pain he must have been in the entire time until he flat out told us near the end. And that just makes it even sadder when rewatching the movie. The dude is just so kind and patient while essentially being in total agony.

I cry every single freaking time with this movie. The talk Dale gives before his death about he wishes he could have met them somewhere else, the talk John has in his cell about never having a buddy to be with, and tbh it hits me the hardest when I see Brutal tearing up and trying so hard to hold it in… ugh 😩 destroys me every time. This is a Masterpiece of a film and should be shared with anyone who has love and compassion in their heart. There is still love in the world and I pray we all keep our hearts soft and realize we all share one home THIS PLANET. Yes. Every child should see this film.
The problem is: children grow up. And, eventually, they become the new police officers, lawyers, teachers, criminals, butchers, priests, etc.
      Then what?
Chances are, people who see this film spend a few moments pondering the emotional content that it wrings out of the viewer.
Tomorrow?…they’ll be the exact same person they were BEFORE watching it.
Sometimes, entertainment can be a very powerful thing.
But…a powerful moment is rarely everlasting.

It's very good to see another guy react to this movie the very same way I do. During the most emotional scenes towards the end, I cried (and still do) my damn eyes out. Totally ugly crying to be honest.
Certain movies just simply break me. In a good way through, I'd say. It only means that the story really works.
I really get drawn into the story/action when things just...well, WORK. Story, acting, soundtrack, etc. I get really immersed and invested emotionally. Mix that with being generally easy moved...and yeah, go figure: 😭😭😭
    🤣
Anyway, The Green Mile is a masterpiece. Period.

The most poignant, gut-punch line in the whole movie (to my way of thinking) is John's "I'm sorry for what I am" as he sits in "Ol' Sparky" awaiting Eternity. And the small aspect that "speaks" so loudly at the end, when Paul shakes John's hand, a bookend for John shaking Paul''s hand upon arrival at Cell Block E at the beginning of the movie -- the completed circle of respect, honor, and gratitude for all the mysticism and humanism that was learned and experienced.

    1. YOU WILL CRY😭😭😭😭
    2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production, so his part was done later. He also played Reverend Alden on "Little House on the Prairie".
    3. Hammersmith was not a good lawyer. (most likely a racial thing. It was 1935 South.)
    4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row.
    5. This movie was nominated for Best Supporting Actor (MCD)😇 and Best Cast but unfortunately neither won.😭😭
    6. Players in other King adaptations: Jeffery DeMunn: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist,
Storm of the Century and William Sadler: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist. David Morse: The Langoliers. Patricia Clarkson played Margarat White in King's remake of Carrie". Needless to say, it was a much different part.
    7. Goof: Electricity makes the body contract. Del wouldn't be able to scream. I know it' just for the movie because of the length of the execution scene.
    8. IRL James Cromwell is a vegan and didn't want to grill meat for the BBQ scene but
was told that in 1935 people actually ate meat so he agreed to have some on the grill.
    9. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch. BTW Kudos to Doug Hutchison for the great job of playing Percy.👌EVERYONE hates him.
    10. John also rescues the other patients at Briar Ridge.
    11. IRL both David Morse and James Cromwell are about the same height as Michael Clark Duncan (RIP). They used planks, a small bed and smaller chair along with trick photography/angles to make John look taller.
12 The scene where John takes Mr. Jingles for safe keeping before Del's execution, they used a real mouse, and it pooped on Paul's shoulder, and he brushed it off.
    13. Now we know what the "day old is fine" dry toast is for.
14 EVERYBODY cries and has to take time to reflect. Congratulations you just experienced.
    the GREATEST MOVIE EVER. (GOAT)

This movie destroys me every single time I watch it. I remember seeing it when it first came out, and bawling like a baby. That hasn’t changed.

It's weird as a guy, some of the biggest gut punches come from Stephen King. Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, Stand by Me, and the Dark Tower books.

I cried watching you cry, my man! I remember my first time watching this movie…I carry/carried with me some of the lessons portrayed. Truly a movie to relish in.

Without a doubt, this is the most visceral reaction I've ever seen from a reaction channel.
But what really disturbs me is: after watching this nearly 3-hour-long emotional rollercoaster of a film, how many people will go back to being the EXACT same person they were...before viewing this "potentially" life-altering experience.
Humans have to be God's most puzzling (and disappointing!!) creation.

Well... You two aren't the only ones who cry like children while watching this film. I watched this movie about twice a year ever since it came out. It gets me every single time. And i'm not ashamed to admit it, even though I spent 22 years as an Airborne Infantryman.

It's like Gandalf says at the end of Return of the King - "Not all tears are an evil."
That's one of three Frank Darabont - Stephen King adaptations. The others are The Shawshank Redemption - another classic - and The Mist which is a straight out horror movie. Other excellent King adaptations are the two done by Rob Reiner - Misery and Stand by Me. Also watch worthy are The Dead Zone, The Shining & Doctor Sleep, and the overlooked Dolores Claiborne.

This is one of my all time favorite movies - & I still cry every time I watch it - even after all these years, even knowing what's coming!
You'd have to be made of the hardest stone not to get emotional watching this!!

“I'm tired, boss. Tired of bein' on the road, lonely as a sparrow in the rain. I'm tired of never having me a buddy to be with, to tell me where we's going to or coming from, or why. Mostly, I'm tired of people being ugly to each other. I'm tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world every day. There's too much of it - it's like pieces of glass in my head, all the time. Can you understand?”
    A lovely reaction. We cried along with you. Watching The Green Mile definitely takes a toll emotionally. It is an amazing story by an amazing storyteller and beautifully acted throughout, but a heartbreaking film. This film really sheds a light on true goodness, true evil, and the heart-wrenching dilemma faced by men who know in their hearts that someone is innocent, but have no way to prove it. Add to that the suffering that John Coffey had to endure every day because of all the ugliness in the world. John was clearly too good for this world! {RIP Michael Clarke Duncan}
After such an emotionally draining film, it's time for a romance movie or two. You should react to "Meet Joe Black" (with Brad Pitt, Claire Forlani, and Anthony Hopkins), "About Time" (Domhnall Gleeson, Rachel McAdams), and "The Lake House" (with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock). All well-acted and interesting love stories with a twist. Keep going! Subscribed.

I just found your channel and watched several reactions. I really appreciate your showing real emotions at times when the movie (with all the writing and directing and the acting) has created a moment when the emotion is appropriate. It really draws me in and helps me connect with you at those times when those movie times connect with me. Thank you for this channel and sharing with us. I am a supporter of your channel and you and your country. Thank you for this reaction.

I always loved this movie but it's only since I've reached my 30's it makes me really cry. I'm getting more emotional or life experience and the injustices in the world pain me more and more. This movie taps into something and it makes me tear up which isn't easy.

A mouse generally lives 5-7 years. It was around 50 or so when Mr Jingles finally died. The implication is Paul might live another 300-400 years…
We tend to think of long life as a gift, but when you outlive everyone else around you… well it becomes a curse.
