You are always a pleasure to watch. I don’t live tiny, I’m not vegan, I live in sunny south Florida where the coldest it got this winter was probably 43 degrees Fahrenheit, yet I thoroughly relate and enjoy your conversation. However, I am trying to live a more intentional life. Stay well my dear. Happy Easter. ❤️

If going with an RV/travel trailer, look into the molded fiberglass options. 😊

Personally I think your decisions make the most sense to me… the adorable tiny house and the camper van. You have the best of both worlds. That being said, I can totally understand why some would choose the RV, especially the School bus conversations. I think it’s great people can have choices! You presented both sides of the debate thoughtfully and diplomatically. So glad you are feeling better! ❤️

*I live in Australia and hate the heat. it sounds like I would like it better where you live. I would love to have a white Christmas one year. it's the middle of summer in December here. I just watched you tiny house tour and loved it. I love the wood on the ceiling and the blues used. very comfy house*

FYI particle board weighs MORE than plywood. 😀
Love your channel! I am seven years away from retirement in Ontario and considering going tiny. Right now all 3 of my kids are living at home. 🤣 Perhaps I will be in my home for a while. I just love your honesty and explanations. I am a single mother and do a lot of DIY thanks to TH-cam.
Keep up your search for a perfect spot for your tiny house!!
    Blessings

Thanks for this thought provoking video Adelina.😃👍Coming from the perspective of an RV owner: If you want to travel and stay in National, Provincial and State Parks, buy a small RV. If you want to escape Canadian winters and travel to Florida or Arizona every winter, with your beloved pets, buy a bigger RV and stay in an RV park for 4-6 months. But, If you plan to settle somewhere for a longer time, build a tiny home. As you said, RVs are built for travel and every time you drive down a highway it's like being exposed to an earthquake. We have to regularly check our seals and seams to prevent leaks. I wouldn't want to put a tiny home through that very often. Most RV's, unless they're fiberglass trailers, are prone to leaks and depreciate exponentially over the years. I would think that a professionally built, well maintained tiny home would retain or even gain value over time. Our dream: Downsize to a ground-set tiny home, on our own land, and keep our RV for travel and a fair weather guest bunkie. 😉

Well said (about valuing our health). At the time being, I am traveling and I have so many places to go and things to see. BUT, it wasn’t until the rona hit that I realized I better have a home base and/or plan B. I Think that’s when I started looking at Tiny houses because of all the reasons you mentioned in this video. Great video 👍🏼 lots of things to consider and some I hadn’t thought about.

Another aspect of an RV, for Canadians at least, is that RV parks and campgrounds don’t accommodate those who want to live in their rigs full time or even for 6 months. They don’t open until May 15th or 31st and close by October 31st.
We lived in our RV for a year but coming home in April (to do taxes and meet the requirement of 6 months in the province for health care) meant imposing on our family until the park opened. Then in the fall, we didn’t want to leave to go south until after Christmas but the park closed up in October. It’s so inconvenient for Canadians. Living in a tiny house means that you can deal with the shoulder seasons in comfort and go south when you please.
In the States it’s much easier to live full time in an RV because they can move to where the weather is amenable.

Loved this comparison. I currently live in a pretty tiny house myself, although it wasn't built intentionally as one back in 1870, about 1200 sf. So I do have an RV as well, a little 13' Scamp, with a Subaru to tow it. I wanted to comment on you having the flu because I have been feeling pretty funky for the past year, blamed it on aging, the pandemic, having a sedentary job before I retired in December of 2020, etc. I asked my doctor (he didn't offer it routinely) to check my thyroid because 2 of my 4 siblings had hypothyroidism. Lo and behold, all these issues I have been struggling with and blaming on aging at 68 are probably due to a very low level. (High of normal was 6 something, over 10 is considered problematic, mine is 44). I'm looking forward to getting treatment for that but I have become "evangelical" if you will, for women, especially over 60, to get your thyroid checked! Just google the symptoms, huge range of things but put them all together and holy moly. This has been a public service announcement, lol, you are welcome.

Hi Sarah. I have an under active thyroid as well. Have for years and take medication. Just had my blood work and it’s well managed. It’s important to get that checked out as a woman.

Hi! I have been watching your videos and love your tiny home. I was surprised to hear how expensive your lot rent was. I have a mini home in a park in N.S(just outside of Halifax) and my lot rent is $292.05... I was in Red Deer a few years ago and I loved the scenery going through the Rocky Mountains and all the wildlife, I found it expensive. Maybe, you should move to N.S. LOL!

    • @myBIGtinyhouselife

Thanks for sharing. I am examining my partial retirement options. I also live in Calgary and my family is here. I am just wondering where you park your tiny house, whether it is possible to purchase a small land patch, o do you have to rent one? It must be expensive in the city, if it is a possibility. Any existing community around here, or just in B.C.?

  • @Elizabeth-in2fw

Thank you for this very informative video! Do you have a perspective on tiny homes that come equipped with “bump outs” that expand the home size when it’s parked?

My daughter lived in her motorhome then RV for 6 years full time. She works seasonally so in summer she had one job in SD and in winter she went south where it was warmer. Never had any problems with either one. I think it depends how much you're moving it etc.
