The Best Batting Tee - How to make it

This homemade batting tee is very durable, lasts forever, is easy and cheap to make. It is fully adjustable to grow with a child or allow users of different heights to use the same tee. You can get all the pieces you'll need at your local Home Depot or other box store.

I wouldn't put the clamp on the rubber hose...if the fit is tight like the other joint, it won't fall off....that clamp is going to scratch up some bats because ...well, some bad swings are going to happen....great job all around...thanks

I'm not sure about the net. I got it from a sale awhile back. It definitely is heavier duty than a soccer net, but it really works great strung up between two trees. My boys hit baseballs into one way and then on the other side it's behind the lacrosse goal/bounce-back board. Thanks for watching.

What are you using as your net/backstop?

One thing I've done to help the rubber piece last longer is grind or file the top edge of the half inch pipe so it's not so sharp. The backstop is a piece of surplus netting that I hang between two trees. I'm not really sure where you could get something like that. I just happened upon it at a sale. A CHEAP tee might be that much, like Country Family said, this is a tee that's gonna last YEARS! Gonna steal a few of your ideas--I had previously built a DIY tee with PVC and wrapped top with inner tube (emulating a Tanner tee) BUT, in practice not so durable. Your solution looks to have good flex AND more durable.

$15-25 tees are a PIA, they bend and constantly have to be readjusted. I was looking for a Tanner Tee and came across a link to this on a forum. The cost in parts is definitely worth this build, $100 tee for less than 1/2 the price.

Hi there. Where I live, I can't find the 1" steel pipe. Do you think this would work with 3/4" for the outside pipe, and 1/2" for the inside pipe?

1/2" rigid pipe is 7/8" OD so it won't fit inside a 3/4" pipe

Arthur Lamarche the black rubber piece is a garbage disposal connector. Should be able to find that at any hardware store or home center. Hope this helps, thanks for watching.

Hi Shobe, thanks for the comment. The bottom pipe is 1" rigid conduit. (schedule 40). The upper pipe is 1/2" rigid conduit. Black gas pipe could also be used as it is the same size as conduit. Hope this helps.

depending on the age and skill of your kids - this tee will result in broken bats and or injury when they hit below the rubber... and if they are 12 and under, they will certainly miss below the ball
