    I use MainWP (self hosted) instead of WP Remote and I also use FlyingPress for the caching solution. Highly recommend them.

    • @TheAdminBar
      @TheAdminBar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used MainWP for a long time too, and it worked fine. But when someone asked me "what happens if your MainWP dashboard site gets hacked?" I didn't have a good answer... and knowing that if someone hacked it, they'd have access to ALL my client sites, I couldn't continue. I feel good about securing WP, but not _that_ good.

    I like your simple approach to Word Press I take a similar approach even though this is only for my own personal projects. I have tested Cloudways and a few other hosting companies and personally for myself the speed difference does not big of a difference if any. I went with Name Cheap and just their shared plans and at the moment is sufficient for my needs. Name Hero may not be the best choice for those that are running an agency, but for myself, it works for my needs.

      @@TheAdminBar really why? Regarding security and seed. I use a light weight security plugin, I use perfmatters admin url distraction, some php code to force ssl on the backend and disabled theme and plugin edits with wp code box. Also hosting contacts on your own server and not giving it to 3rd parties enhances privacy. On top of that I got the lifetime deal I only pay 19 cent with 1000 emails through Amazon ses

    If you're hosted on a cPanel server with LiteSpeed,
    you could drop a couple more plugins from this mix as well:
    Perfmatters - $124.95 a year savings
    and InstaWP - $120 a year savings
    * Yes, I just saved you $250 a year with this tip. ;)
    And, yes, I have reviewed both and neither give benefit on cPanel LiteSpeed server in my speed / utility tests over a well tuned cPanel LIteSpeed server.
    I can demonstrate this if curious. Ask anytime.

    • @kylevandeusen
      @kylevandeusen ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting! I've not looked back at cpanel. But how would litespeed host fonts locally, delay JS, manage scrips, preload resources, and all the other things I do with Perfmatters?

    • @spidermankas
      @spidermankas ปีที่แล้ว

      I would be interested to know how will you save time & cost with a cPanel + Litespeed based server. The litespeed server will also cost you some money as I can imagine + maybe the cpanel license? Also, with InstaWP our aim is for you to save a bunch of time everytime you can setup a new site for clients, testing, staging etc. With features like pre-set configs, templates, git integration, hosting connection, staging creation, we can save countless hours. I don't think cPanel can do what we can do, but I am very open to listen.

    • @jimwalkerarchery
      @jimwalkerarchery ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, LiteSpeed has all the caching stuff covered.
      Local fonts setup can be done with another plugin if required.
      Though I think the bottom line becomes whether Perfmatters does actually give you much in the way of real world speed benefit relative to the advantages of LIteSpeed.
      If you'd like a faster loading website, with a couple fewer plugins and save $250 a year, it's easy enough to test with a staging site. Just pass me a subdomain to I'll set up and migrate a copy of your favorite site to the server for you to do a side by side comparison with your favorite site testing tools.

    • @spidermankas
      @spidermankas ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jimwalkerarchery Thanks for sharing Jim. I guess it comes down to dedicating the time to setup something Vs using a tool instead and spend time activities which can make you more money. I would love to sit with you and show the 1-click staging plugin we are building which has iterative sync (staging -> prod), it is unheard of in the WP ecosystem :-)

    • @TheAdminBar
      @TheAdminBar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Jim! I'm not certain you realize all of what Perfmatters is handling (though we got some good videos here on our channel about it or you can view their features here: perfmatters.io/features/).
      Certainly interested in Litespeed - but I don't think that would make me get rid of Perfmatters.

    Good video. Thank you. I am using some of the plugins you mentioned, except forms. I got Piotnet Forms and got LTD as well. You are using a" code snippets plugin " I have seen in your channel. Have you ever looked at the "wp code box"? If you did, what do you think? The wp code box is better choice if you go with the pro version.
    👍

    • @TheAdminBar
      @TheAdminBar  ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought WP Code Box, but it felt very confusing to me 😅 Granted, I didn't spend much time with it and I'm NOT a "developer". It just felt like there were so many options and dropdowns, and configurations that I didn't know where to start.
      I do use Code Snippets pretty regularly... but with GeneratePress' built-in "Elements" feature, a lot of those code snippets and be placed in Elements.
      If I can go that route, I think I prefer it. One less plugin, and I'm going to have GP regardless - so I might as well take advantage of it.

    Great content! I recently decided to give GB and GP a chance. I am wondering if you have a preferred way of importing API Jason into CPTs. Is there a best practice plugin? I checked your video library and I can't find one that addresses this. I have a client who wants to import API event info from their ticketing company and I am looking for a great solution while using GB and GP w/ CPT
