Kia from a few years ago was a brand that reminded me of a dollar store-low quality and kind of a joke. I’ve said for years that the Kia badge was absolutely awful and an embarrassment to have on your car. Since the redesign, they’re a completely different company. Incredible value with genuine quality and high-end materials. They’re doing brand evolution right.
they did since the early 2012.. but noticeable changes take a lot of time, especially if it's meant to change it's reputation! I knew 6-8 years ago that KIA will go Nuts and this is just the beginning :)
I just bought a Sorento. It now has 1400 miles and this is my opinion. You have to want to embrace all of the technology, which, at 71 I did. The more you get to know this car, the more you’ll love it. Also, the more this car gets to know you, the more you’ll love it. I drove a bmw x3 before and this car is so much more fun to drive. Every page in the quick start owners manual has a QR code that explains in a short video what is on that page. Amazing. Also, this car is so fast. You could actually drive in ECO mode all the time and still have more power than you’ll need. I researched eleven SUV’s for two months before deciding on the Sorento. So happy with my decision.
Kia has been really knocking it out of the park. This rebrand is actually really working for them. The change in conversation Kia has made for themselves is very impressive.
The best part of watching a Raiti's Rides video is all the laughs I get in the process. The family sized mint lifesavers in the center console in case you "make a family" joke had me in stitches!
My wife and I bought for her 50th birthday a 2022 Kia Sorento SX Prestige in Sparkling Silver and she loves it. The features, luxury, power, and practicality it provides we feel are excellent at a remarkable price. The piano, gloss black accents inside and out look great against the primary color but the downside is the chore of keeping those surfaces looking that way. We’re pleased with our purchase. Thanks Joe and Lori for another great video. Your prior reviews in the past year of mid-size SUV’s was instrumental in our decision. Thanks again!
Yo Joe and Lori….I bought this exact one last week…and I’m really digging it. Feels great behind the business end…plenty of power…good visibility and lots of looks from others. Keep killing it kids!!!
My only issue with this are the two captain chairs on the second row. If you have that fifth person, you’d have to put them in the third row which is very uncomfortable and gives you zero trunk space. I wish it had a bench seat option! It’s a dealbreaker on the Sorrento for me.
You can get a bench seat in the Sorento... It's just not as common. You may need to order it at the dealership or request the dealer find one and trade for it.
I used to work at CarMax and got to experience a ton of vehicles. The newer Kia Sorento was always one of my favorite cars to experience. Hyundai/Kia definitely stepped up their game. The interior in the Sorento is inspiring and easy to navigate. My only dislike is the copious amount of piano black plastic ..that will get scratched because you will definitely see all the dust and fingerprints on those surfaces
The CX-9 is more than 10 inches longer than the Sorento. I know it's not often that someone would complain about an extra 10 inches, but your garage needs to be able to accommodate it. I had to take the CX-9 off the list over that. I did end up with the Santa Fe, though, instead of the Sorento. Another thing to note is that most people find that the DCT becomes smoother with some miles. I've had my Santa Fe Limited for a year now and absolutely love it.
I like the work both companies have done with the style of suv lineups. I see the pros and cons with both of them and Joe like you always say, it’s good to have options.
Joe's unique way and hilarious comments always keep me coming back for more reviews. Lol! In my opinion best in the business. When your good your good and lets face it, some people just have it. And Joe is just one of those dudes. Love ya Joe! Keep em coming!
Bought a 2022 K5 GT-Line AWD and loved it so much, I bought a 2022 Sorento SX-P X-Line AWD as well. This is a knock-out SUV, so much bang for the buck, and fun to drive. I've driven German for 30 years, but I am a true convert to Kia. They are doing it RIGHT.
Every now and then a car company hits a homerun on a vehicle color. Kia did it with this wolf grey. It's always nice to have the third row option. The price point on this vehicle with the options is just amazing. Keeping all the other brands on their toes. Thanks for another great review Joe. Looking forward to an on throttle with the new "Sportage"!
I'm always surprised people like the colour...and the army green one as well. The grey reminds me of seagull poop. And because there are no metallic flakes, there is no depth, which makes the vehicle look plastic. In my opinion. ;)
Wolf grey is the best grey ever for a vehicle. I always hated gray vehicles until this came about. These matte finishes are definitely the way of the future for good reason.
Any issues since your purchase 10 months later? Heard while the warranty is nice, getting KIA to respond and address issues has been abysmal. 6-8 week wait times.
@Satray01 I got the 22 Sorrento in December 21 so it's actually getting close to 2 years and no issues! Had to take the truck in for a few recalls but that was it.
Absolutely beautiful. This wolf Gray is AMAZING. I’m very partial to Mazda, particularly the CX-5 and 3 hatchback. I don’t care too much for the CX-9 so I would choose this over the CX-9. This Kia makes a 3 row look super kool!
Like the color and the gloss black rims it's a nice color combo. In general the gloss black accents fit in well with this suv. Outside looks good with it but inside in general gloss black isnt a good material to use especially if there is too much
My wife and me bought one. Absolutely love it. Do yourself a favor and read all the owners manual pages on the transmission, including idle time for a few minutes to cool off the turbo’s. The only thing that is annoying is they move the tack to the right and the speedometer to the left it just doesn’t make sense.
I currently own a 2022 Sorento SX Prestige X-line and when I bought it I jad it side by side with the Telluride sx prestige and the size difference is minimal but I went with the Sorento because the front looks more aggressive, full panoramic roof and the rear brake light on the Telluride is also the turn signal and that's something I don't like in a safety sense
I have this exact one and I love it!!! I turned on cruise control for a 2 hour trip and it drove itself! Very smooth, cool and has the space I need for my kids without looking like a soccer mom.
I live in Western Australia and I waited 8 months for my Sorento GT Line diesel 7 seat, clear white, when initially I was to wait a minimum of 12 months, someone ordered the same car with expensive white color, didn't want clear white, his problem gave up the clear white to wait through another 10 months now with added supply problems., my gain and have never been so happy with my choice of new vehicle. I have done 2432 kilometers combined country and metro travel, consumption has gone from 7.2 L/100 K...... to 6.2L/100K. 1500 k service booked next week. I am doing a 4000 k round trip later in this month June 2022 and hopeful of may be even better consumption. I use cruise control when ever and where ever I can which helps with the wallet against speeding tickets and also consistent speed using fuel over very long distances. Both my wife and I could not be happier with the KIA Sorento GT Line diesel. Keep up the great work KIA.
I just leased a 23 Kia Sorento X-Line SX Prestige in ebony black with black interior. With the X-Line black fascia and so on - looks so nice! Drive so nicely. I love the digital instrument panel, esp the version that matches to the time of day and weather...its so cool. I actually narrowed it down between the CX9, Sorento and 24 Atlas Cross Sport...CX9 was the first I removed. I chose the KIA due to pricing, my son loved the captain chairs, and was the better size for our needs.
Did you know Kia is rated most reliable car company? Blows my mind. Im a die hard early 2000's Nissan fan and 2010s and current Toyota fan but man this Company has come a long way
We don’t get that engine choice in Europe. Instead, we get a 2.2 litre diesel with 200 horsepower and 324lb.ft of torque, mated to an 8DCT. We also get hybrid versions.
Oooooooooh myyyyyyyy gaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwd yeeeeeeeeeeeees maaaaaaaan!!!! Kia drives a hard haaaaaaaaarrrrf bargain with their ENTIRE LINEUP!!! Automaker of the year right here!!! The powertrain is an absolute knockout!!! And their value proposition is mind-boggling!!! Great review Joe and Lori!!! You both are amazing!!!
I love my 2021 but one zonk for me was the 3rd row doesn't have A/C vents or controls. That's an option. Make sure if you are going to use the 3rd row for those extra kids that the controls/vents are there!
I have a 2011 CX9 that still looks and drives like it did when I bought it new. What else can I say? Thank you, Joe, for all your consistently great reviews.
Kia does such a great job in general . . . but a continued clear-miss is the icons in the infotainment screen; they're all the same color, which when driving, is distracting and makes it hard (or even dangerous) to use. The should just find a more variable color-coding system for icons, organize them better (or use fewer of them?), make them larger with clear visual markers, and this would greatly improve their system.
I am have been shopping for some time in the mid to compact suv segment. My wife and I are mid 70s but very far and quality conscious. For price, quality, and innovation I am concentrating on KIAs: 23 Sportage or Sorento hands down. I had owned American for many years in spite of grandson working for Toyota. Love those Raiti’s Rides! Thanks! Dan in east Kansas. Daughter/Son-in law have new Telluride and 23 Sportage and LOVE them!
I don't think I'll see a lot of complaints about the badging anymore, specially at this price. I think this is a great choice and it looks really good. The interior looks like a much more expensive vehicle. The mid row seats look uncomfortable, I think I rather have a full mid row instead of bucket seats. That third row is definitely the most uncomfortable looking I've seen. I rather to pay more for something more comfortable. It's still a good option for less than 45k. Thank you Joe and Lori for another outstanding review!!
I love the looks of this! But ultimately we just got a carbon edition CX9 because of Mazdas reliability and safety, and we LOVE it! If I could, we would get this car too lol. They both look great~
@rebeccajanelovelace It looks like some folks on this post have not been reading reliability reports lately. You’re right Mazda is rated #1, and like you I also bought the CX-9 CE, and my oh my, I’m in love with it!!! Everything from the ride, to the styling, interior, and stereo sound are premium - and it makes me feel premium. No doubt the Sorento is a beauty of an SUV but hands down my choice is the CX-9.
Thanks for this review! I honestly wish this had the interior of the 2023 Kia Sportage and I would pick this over the Sportage. That one is just so elegant and clean and modern. The Sorento otherwise I love everything about it, but after seeing the KIA interior in person, man it's hard not to want that in the Sorento and the Telluride as well. The interiors for Sorento and Telluride look a little dated and gaudy in design compared to the EV6 and Sportage. The reason the interior is so important to me is because that is where you spend 100% of the time of your car. And having a nice interior makes a difference. Reports are the 2023 Telluride is getting an interior update and an external update. I am willing to bet it is getting the Sportage/EV6 interior.
I recently test drove this exact model in the very same color. To compare, I currently drive a 2019 Honda CRV. They both feel about the same in terms of size even though the Sorento is a bit longer and wider. In terms of height, they’re basically both the same. The interior of the Sorento is extremely nice compared to the CRV. Now comes the bad news as far as my experience. The dealer wanted $47,000 for the vehicle, non negotiable. That’s $5,000 over msrp. The pricing for the Telluride was even worse at $10,000 over msrp. It’s a very bad time to buy or lease a vehicle. It just doesn’t make sense to pay that much for a vehicle that loses value over time. Hopefully sooner than later, the pricing on all vehicles start to trend down back to normal and reasonable prices.
3 weeks ago I got my wife a CX-9 Grand Touring thanks to my local Mazda Dealer “Ocean Mazda” at MSRP and I gotta say the car runs great, looks good and feels pretty luxurious.
This is our car exactly except ours is a '21 and in white so its Oreo'd out. we love it and the only 2 things I wish were different were the downshift from 2nd to first was smoother besides jerkish but and if we had a memory seat button for my wife and I but overall we wouldn't have gone with any other SUV for our family of 4. Keep it up Raiti!
this new Kia is very nice the exterior wolf gray color and the interior is nice, the chrome finishing the infotainment system and the seats hot, man has Kia came a long way..
Is it just me or did this skip from going to review the trunk space to just driving? Major misses for the price point are no wireless & incandescent reverse light. 😢
Another great review! It’s hard to pass on the KIA warranty vs most other brands including Mazda. The interior you showed on this model KIA is close to the Signature version CX-9.
Kia is amazing their vehicles are great. I believe CX-9 is still better in my opinion the Sorento is nice just Kia warranty is better than Mazda. The SUV is nice Kia and Hyundai are doing great job really Kia remember once up a time these two brands were underrated as think they were anti- VW and now Mitsubishi never existed now styling is above (Toyota and Honda), CX-9 might feel little bit sportier overall highly recommend the Sorento.
This was a great overview after having just put my order in for my 2022 Sorento SX (Canada) in Wolf Grey. I was surprised to see that up North we get some added features on the top tier SX over the US Prestige trim, including a HUD, 110V socket in second row in addition to the 12V and USB-A, integrated rear sunshades and climate controls in the third row. There may be more but those are a few things I noticed. That said, I am very excited to be getting into my first Kia, especially this new Serento, after two other cars and six years of trying to convince my wife.. hah

I love this color! It makes any vehicle look good.
You have good taste!
That color is dope!
One of my favorites
I love my Sorento EX- X line. Traded in my telluride and I’m very happy I downsized.
I love this salesman cuz he seems honest. I would buy a car off him
Thanks for this review!
Thanks!
This vehicle is what got me hooked with ur channel
The Commentary is what got me sold 😂🔥.
Am just happy that there are a lot of options to choose . KIA have been killing it
"So you can focus, and let your hands do the work."
Sold!
Sounds like dealers are jacking up sale prices to earn more profits, tough on buyers.
And 🏠 market same want 20 to 40 000 more 💰 for 🏠 crazy re sale market trip all so low inventory
That’s if those prices don’t become normal first
I absolutely love this car!! I just bought it!! Adore the wolf gray and my kids can get in and out easily 😍
The problem is trying to find a dealership that ain’t tacking on 5-10k on top of the msrp.trying to find is impossible!!!
Speaking of Kia, the recent Sportage is on Kia dealerships currently right now. Can you give me your honest opinion on the 2023 Kia Sportage
I just saw it in person. Really great interior 👌
@@kiwan5425 same. It was a nice car to look at
Just got my Sorento SX a few days ago in everlasting silver and i LOVE it!
They should have put a dual exhaust atleast.. but still looks aggressive though 👍👏✌️
Tell me about it!
Excellent review. You hit the nail on the head with your comments on market sizes of SUVs.
3 weeks ago I got my wife a CX-9 Grand Touring thanks to my local Mazda Dealer “Ocean Mazda” at MSRP and I gotta say the car runs great, looks good and feels pretty luxurious.
That is so wonderful Rodney! Congrats!
That’s a sharp whip. Love the black w the grey.
I agree with you man!
He is by far the best car detailer host
Thank you Billy for having my back!
Awesome review 👍
I have no complaints. I would buy that 💯
I am so glad that you like this one.
I've been looking for a mid-size and I think I may settle for the Sorento. It's design on the outside and inside won be over
Nice howl... gave me chills 😎
LOL You are hilarious1
@@RaitisRides 😂
I would buy this Kia as my first Kia.
Joe thank you for another great review I hope you get a billion subscribers.
Thanks for having our backs!
If I had to get a Sorento this is the one I would get. Sharp, stylish, great tech. Great one Joe!
Great review, happy anniversary
Thank you so much Luca!
😂 Hold the cheese and horsey sauce! Ya killin me!🤣 Love it!👍👍
This is our car exactly except ours is a '21 and in white so its Oreo'd out. we love it and the only 2 things I wish were different were the downshift from 2nd to first was smoother besides jerkish but and if we had a memory seat button for my wife and I but overall we wouldn't have gone with any other SUV for our family of 4. Keep it up Raiti!
That is so wonderful Brent! You got it man!
this new Kia is very nice the exterior wolf gray color and the interior is nice, the chrome finishing the infotainment system and the seats hot, man has Kia came a long way..
Why do I always get hungry during and aft a Raiti review???🍔🌮🍟🍌
Great review Joe! I love the quips you add in about the Arby's, makeout ridge, twinkies, etc. Very funny
Finally a Review that will actually help me.
First time seeing one of those on the road yesterday.. it is very nice
I got the 2023 sx prestige after i got my 2019 demon challenger. Its a good family car tbh
Is it just me or did this skip from going to review the trunk space to just driving? Major misses for the price point are no wireless & incandescent reverse light. 😢
Wow..I have never thought of owning a Kia until now. Very nice and 10k less than comparable competitor.
I have a 23 in glacial white blacked out.that car is nice
We have the precious gen Sorrento and honestly prefer it because you get 7 seats not 6 and just more practical than a couple of captain chairs.
I have been waiting for your 2nd 2023 Kia Sportage review (with driving for sure). I hope it comes soon too. I love your reviews. Thanks !
I love it my boy Joe and Lori and keep up the work and I love the video lot real true 👍 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Thanks Dominic for always watching!
That said, I am very excited to be getting into my first Kia, especially this new Serento, after two other cars and six years of trying to convince my wife.. hah
I am so glad that I could share it with you!
@@RaitisRides Thank you. As a first time viewer your thorough presentation and review helped solidify my confidence in my purchase decision. I'll definitely be back to your videos and channel. Cheers.
We got the PHEV SX Prestige and it is INCREDIBLE! It's perfect for our family and with gas over $5/gallon here it saves us a ton as well
That is so wonderful congrats!
18:46 Him= The only bad thing is that you can only fit like 2 sheets of loose notebook paper in this pocket.
Moms= Hold my beer! You'll be amazed what we can fit in that pocket. 😅🤣🤣🤣
I finally got a wolf grey sorento today 💙
I custom ordered this exact model an color 8 weeks ago, They just got it in today, going to pick up Saturday. Pretty excited. I was expecting it to take 3-6 months. Im impressed with how quickly it was made.
What custom did you add on it.
@@YoooPatrick well I purchased the Top package but wasn't offered in wolf grey so I had to do a custom order as they called it because none were available in that option. I've seen a bunch on the road in wolf grey so I don't understand why this color was extra $
