@@grimripperrr man honestly yeah to an extent. They're way less maneuverable. The harder parts are all the preflight checks and being subjected to the g force. There are jet sims out there you can try out
This explains so well how I feel about camera drone/mavic owners who don't even know about some rules etc and the ease of flying them.. compared to people who fly diy FPV quads. Also: When you asked 'are you surprised?" And turned the camera, EVERYONE was surprised. Doing good sir! Also live the way you spread out the Patrions over the whole vid to give them credit. You're a solid dude! Really liking the way you did this video and just the simple, down to earth way of telling what you think on this subject. Very respectable.
As I said on that meeting that I forced you to have: where does it end? Then an army jet pilot (or whatever) can say he IS a real pilot, not like commercial pilots who fly mostly on auto pilot for most of the flight? We are pilots, we are fpv drone pilots to be more specific. We check settings, customization, software, hardware, flying characteristics, efficiency relations between components… we are pilots!
man this video is literally in sync with my fucking brain... the algo is so fucking on point jfc... i bought a potensic atom a week ago... fucking love it... what a machine, what footage and potential ... but holy shit. it's made for a monkey... i want to fly. thanks for the content... getting a rm pocket saturday.
I work with large, commercial UAS. In my industry, people who sit in a box and fly a UAV are called operators. They all have to have a commercial pilots license in order to fly our aircraft but we still call them "operators" when they are filling that roll. Aside from the fact that drones and airplanes both fly in the air, there are very few similarities that exist when it comes to the skills needed to operate them. A person who flys a drone is not a pilot.
I had a Mavic 2 Pro.. In an attempt to restore my manhood, I built an FPV drone recently. Uhhhhh yeah... no comparison. Glad I'm not the only one crashing. If you need a forest burned down for your next Deadcell video, I'm your guy!
There's a dude with a mavic up here that texts me every weekend saying "you flying today?" I always ignore him then feel like I have to wait a few days to post the footy. 😂😂😂
My FAA Part 107 card says UAV “Pilot”. Thats what the FAA (who also issues airline pilot licenses) calls it. So Im a pilot. But I always make sure I put “UAV” in front of that..
I am beginner FPV pilot. First I got the betafpv aquilla 16 for in the house and then a month later I got the DJI avata 2 because I first want a no hassle, out of the box, no worries, fpv experience before I start building my own quads. So I share about my experience on reddit r/fpv and they ban me! And on other rc related stuff everything about the avata 2 gets deleted except for on r/dji, and I don't get it. I have been flying rc for 13 years now, just never done FPV. I don't care about dji and all their restrictions are annoying and I really hate that my quad is sending out data that has the gps coordinates of the goggles embedded. (scary shit) But I just wanted a nice first experience without having to fuck around and solder (I tried learning soldering skills and it's just NOT for me), am I asking to much? But man, the gatekeeping is insane! Yes, of course I am learning acro in the simulator. Even my 2 year old is learning it. Yes of course I am gonna modify all my helis, quads, bush flyers, ducted jets and gliders so I can do FPV with them. Yes, I got a radiomaster. Yes I already converted everything to ELRS. Just waiting for the 04 air unit to come out now, I want to put that on most of my stuff if I can manage to keep it cool enough while flying (think I will have to build my own heatsink or something and make sure it gets enough air. Where I fly the air is always 25 - 30 degrees C. But why can't these mods give me a break? Is it such a sin to start on something easy to fly? I am not allowed to share because I don't want to break shit on the first 100 flights or have to wait 3 months because I am missing that one essential part I don't have, or I break that on part that takes 5 weeks to get on the first flight? Or I brick my firmware during a update cause of a power outage. etc etc. This is all required missery on my first fpv flight? Well fuck that shit. I fly to relax. I link the tinkering, don't get me wrong. But that comes later, much later. First I want to have some fun you know. And you know what, non fpv. I can actually fly a quad in manual nose in and tail in with perfect control (side control not so good). I bet most FPV pilots can't even do that. For I have been relaxing with tiny indoor quads for 13 years now, just never done fpv ... I can hover a collective pitch heli upside down so get out with all your gatekeeping! You know nothing about me. This has been my message to those prolapsed anus mods over at r/fpv who banned me cause I got excited about flying the avata 2, my first outside FPV experience. It was fucking amazing! But that's not allowed without going through a year of misery first.
Yeah... Flying the plane is only like %10 of it. There is the whole bookwork/navigation/risk management/weather/radio coms/emergency procedures/system management/atc. Fpv drones are still way harder to fly, but they don't make me feel like a pilot.
I fly airliners for a living and drones for fun... They're so different but I hate the "you're not a real pilot" line. And yeah DJI is a different level of skill obviously..
I would feel embarrassed if i called myself an fpv pilot at an aviation meeting in a room full of real pilots, I'm sure they would laugh. We certainly have a pilots perspective whilst flying for sure, but calling myself a pilot is a bit rich.
Not at all We just have planes with better thrust to weight ratios and better handling.. we are definitely pilots on the stick skill level. Fighter jet pilots need physical fitness as well cuz every manoeuver every turn will be hard on your body physically
I still have an Air as well and I definitely wouldn't consider myself a "pilot" of anything. Except the USS Shitshow that is my life, of which, I am in full control LOL
When I was living in Canada flying small park flyers like the sportcubs with floats of the water in the parks there (they weight over 1 kg) if the police would show up I'd quickly put my glasses on, and turn up the autism in me to 11 and stutter about how nice my toy plane is flying "A drone officer? No no it's a toy plane!" . They'd always leave me alone. Even thought technically speaking I was only like 7 km away from the helipad at the hospital. Incredibly illegal to fly a park flyer in the park. Sometimes it's an incredible handy skill to know to turn in to rainman.
To a certain extent, we're real pilots. Obviously we're not risking our lives in metal flying tubes or expensive tax payer' jets, but there's definitely a high level of skill involved when it comes to flying a drone
By definition if you fly a drone, you're a pilot. Yes there is a difference between flying drones and airplane, but flying a 737 is different than a cessna too. Not to mention heli vs fixed wing. Its just a different aircraft.

drone operators vs quad pilots
Whenever camera drone operators ask me “you fly drones too?”.. I reply, no.. I fly FPV, and I get “that look”… and see their soul leave their body..
Lol
You should hand your controller to them and mention the tune the look on there face before they tell you they don't no how to fly hahahaha
I took the test and did the paperwork for a part 107. I am a certified UAV pilot. I earned my wings.
Pilot is just a different word for operator. I guess that makes us special forces too lol
I’m an FAA T.R.U.S.T. certified UAS Operator with the Recreational Division

there's a racer down here that used to be a fighter pilot, flew f18's. He says flying drones is way harder
Now im inspired to be an fighter pilot... must be doable 😂
Does that mean I can fly a jet if I can fly a drone?
Probably some truth in it, no foot pedals with a drone for yaw 😂
