This dude could have just pulled all his keys, got them graded, and sold them for much more then 8500, I'm sure. Then set up a firepit and burned the junk. Grats on the great deal!
Man looks all cluttered in that garage.. I might be willing to take all those off your hands lol... Awesome video really glad you picked it up. Whatnot here we come...
I took me 4 months to list 400 raw comics. Bagging and boarding, taking photos, and buying the correct shipping boxes with blue painters tape to prevent the comics from sliding around while shipping. The lot you picked up would take you 2 years of solid 50 a day listing to get through. Amazing massive collection.
While I was at a sale yesterday I Sent You a Picture of (a Measly) 4 comic books and i asked if they were worth grabbing. You replied "Id Pick 'em Up" ... ......Well DAMN I Guess You Weren't kidding! hahah Congrats on the haul.
Nicely done, Dominick. Hey I know abiut the last thing you need is suggestions about more things to do, but if you ever feel so inclinc]ded you might want to do a video or two about your method of inventorying and how you handle insurance on your inventory. A lot of resellers I now say simplistic things like "Oh my agent said my homeowner's insurance will cover any losses" _. But that just isn't so in several ways. First, you would only recover for what you could show that you had possession of ... you can't say "I had $10,000 worth of collectible comics stolen". Secon, the amount of inventory you own would far exceed the amount any homeowner's policy I am aware of is going to pay. A lot of resellers seem to walk on very thin ice in this regard. Anyway, best of luck with the reselling, I think you are going to do very, very well.
Great Vid Dom! Obviously jealous. I'm going to be sourcing more comic books and ephemera this season and not touch them till winter. I fell short last April and ran out of inventory. You won't have that problem I see, lol.
@@jarrettanderson8503 thanks but who defines fmv in a bulk deal of this size? Sometimes, ppl just want to get rid the bulk to make space. If they are happy with the price they stated, which was a pretty high raw dollar value, I don’t consider that robbed but we all have our different perspectives
Congratulations on your purchase, you look so happy. Good luck and hoping you make some money 💰. Please forgive me with this comment, why is ones wife involved in ones personal collection. Just the thought of saying let me check with my wife, I’m sorry I cant comprehend that. Believe you me, I respect my wife and we each have our place.
If you stack long boxes more than 3 boxes high you could be damaging the books at the bottom fyi. Also the first printing of the new mutants has only the us price on the cover, all later printings also had the Canadian price. Great video.
Sweet baby jeebus. Nice find. Is it weird I was cringing like crazy as you yanked the Groo's out and saw all the unboarded ones sitting in there all bent and curved...I thought I was going to throw up...lol. Hope you are able to flip 'em fast.
Low-ball buyers are the perfect reason for collectors to have a viable exit strategy. Don't leave your wife and / or kids to deal with sharks who want to rip them off in order to enrich themselves. Your family deserves that money, not dudes like this.
WOW! Just WOW! Should be fine with the water situation, however wood absorbs water. I used to have a basement issue and I purchased several plastic dunnage racks. well worth the money and I got them cheap off of Craigslist. Dude had parents who owned several McDonald's
I am overloaded with inventory from bulk purchases of collections over the years and ebay too slow. I would love to get rid of it in chunks like on whatnot auctions. (ie carded figures, 20 long boxes comics, character shirts, diecast). Do you have tutorials on getting started such as equipment needed, etc? Thanks
$8,500. AWESOME! That man collected comics (around 50 thousand comics, a conservative estimate, you said?) for 30 years and his collection would probably retail or auction for so much more than $8,500. I imagine you will make a ton of money on those comics. He received .17 cents a comic. If you had just given him $15,000, what he originally asked, you would have only paid him .30 cents a comic. I see why you wanted the Uhaul with the Shark on it. You are now a true businessman.
Lol thanks James. This deal was larger but essentially no different from what I’ve been telling ppl what I do for years. Aim to pay between 10 to 20 cents a comic.
The fact a whole year a year went by and no takers worked in your favor. I am sure other potential buyers were put off that the owner of the collection was unable to negotiate without consulting his wife first. I have to therefore question why someone else hasn’t purchased this collection unless they were low ballong the owner to the point it wasn’t worth selling. Good for you to follow up on him and working out a sweet deal where both parties are content. I am hearing good things concerning What Not so good luck! I am looking forward to seeing future videos updating on profits from selling those comics.
Thanks. Here is the update: averaging $1100-$1200 per 100 comics sold in the whatnot auctions. That does not count the keys which I mention elsewhere in the comments. I don’t think he shopped it anywhere in that one year.

Hey Dude, first time watching your stuff...u must be over the moon closing a longtime deal like that. You seem to know your stuff about storing as well as closing, but I would be remiss as a fellow vintage comic book collector if I didn't ask if you know about short and long term storage situations in a garage type setting. Just letting you and anyone else in a similar deal that comic books (even in bags, boarded and in acid free comic book boxes) can turn from white pages to yellow or even brittle brown in just a matter of years due to paint fumes, carbon dioxide from your car and just about anything you would find in a typical garage. A tarp may help but I don't know for sure but it's what I would do. Also you may want to lighten the load on some of the boxes by a handful so they're not so tight together if you're going for longer storage times. Just some observations I got from your video. Good on you for sticking to the chase and the score. I have 22000 of my own personal collection from childhood (just over fifty years of non stop collecting and absolutely loving them). Good luck on whatever future paths these books take. (Oh, this my wife's account in case you're wondering how she could be fifty years into comic collecting..Ha Ha)! She IS a TROOPER though!!!!!

This dude could have just pulled all his keys, got them graded, and sold them for much more then 8500, I'm sure. Then set up a firepit and burned the junk.
Grats on the great deal!
Thanks lol
Just found your channel today. Really like and enjoy how you talk about how you acquired the collection and the story of the person you bought from.

Awesome content! Not gonna lie your intro is awesome
Lol thank you!
Man looks all cluttered in that garage.. I might be willing to take all those off your hands lol... Awesome video really glad you picked it up. Whatnot here we come...
Thanks for the consult!!!
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter when in doubt buy it all... At least that's what the voices in my head say
@@mr.buysalot Lol. Now I know how you got your nickname
Absolutely awesome Dom!! I'm so pumped up watching that! Makes me wanna quit my job and do that full time! Lol maybe in another life!
Thanks! Me too!!! lol
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter 🤟😎
I took me 4 months to list 400 raw comics. Bagging and boarding, taking photos, and buying the correct shipping boxes with blue painters tape to prevent the comics from sliding around while shipping. The lot you picked up would take you 2 years of solid 50 a day listing to get through. Amazing massive collection.
Not it WhatNot it doesn’t. Just sold 100 comics on there last night for $1200. Check it out some time. 😀 thanks!
Greater video about an awesome collection. Congratulations!!!
While I was at a sale yesterday I Sent You a Picture of (a Measly) 4 comic books and i asked if they were worth grabbing. You replied "Id Pick 'em Up" ...
......Well DAMN I Guess You Weren't kidding! hahah Congrats on the haul.
LOL. I keep it real
Oh my days! Literally the dream one day, amazing enjoy 💯💯💯
I’m so happy!
Pete over at Craigslist Hunter just recently had one of those Shogun Warriors come through. Real recently too.
Yep! Just about ready to list mine!
Oh to have a man look at me like that and smile at me like that..........dreamin' I hope Mrs. and Nannette were helping.
Lol I’m looking at you right through that screen 😀
Great Vid Dom! Obviously jealous. I'm going to be sourcing more comic books and ephemera this season and not touch them till winter. I fell short last April and ran out of inventory. You won't have that problem I see, lol.
Thanks! Yeah, I’m set for awhile Randy lol
Greatness video Brother! Thanks for saying how much you paid for the collection, tips and tricks to obtain it and your overall commentary!!!
Thanks so much!!!
Sad to see a collector who spent that many years collecting get robbed but hey it’s the name of the game
LOL, he wasn't "robbed". That was the price he and his wife counter offered. they were very happy with the payment
Lol if they didn’t get fmv then they got robbed but it’s the name of the game good luck with your profit
Indeed. My wife would happily take Pennies on the dollar to free up our entire storage room in basement.
@@dansokulski4039 Thanks for validating my point.
Thanks for sharing Dom! That's a LOT of comic books!
Thanks Chris!
First time visitor and now subscriber, from India. :)
Even for 20k this was a steal nice
Thanks!
Nice haul, a little bit disappointed you didnt show on the video the keys u got.
I thought the same thing! Thanks!
I had that spider man coloring book growing up
Oh cool!
If you stack long boxes more than 3 boxes high you could be damaging the books at the bottom fyi. Also the first printing of the new mutants has only the us price on the cover, all later printings also had the Canadian price. Great video.
Thanks. Depends on the strength of the boxes. Yes, I've sold many 1st printing New Mutant 98s and 87s.
Sweet baby jeebus. Nice find. Is it weird I was cringing like crazy as you yanked the Groo's out and saw all the unboarded ones sitting in there all bent and curved...I thought I was going to throw up...lol. Hope you are able to flip 'em fast.
Lol thanks. No probs. Those will straighten up real fast
Low-ball buyers are the perfect reason for collectors to have a viable exit strategy. Don't leave your wife and / or kids to deal with sharks who want to rip them off in order to enrich themselves. Your family deserves that money, not dudes like this.
You're going to give Chuck at Mile High a run for his money.
Lol I wish
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter I fell like it will happen.
Wow that is an amazing haul!!! I’m a bit jealous but to be honest all I see is a huge CGC bill haha…
LOL. I don't usually send stuff into CGC. Thank goodness!
Wow congrats. Can’t believe no one else bought it with in that year
Me too! But he just never shopped it to anyone else.
Great Video!
Thanks!
Looks like you could have even went smaller for the truck.
True but I didn’t want to take any chances
WOW! Just WOW! Should be fine with the water situation, however wood absorbs water. I used to have a basement issue and I purchased several plastic dunnage racks. well worth the money and I got them cheap off of Craigslist. Dude had parents who owned several McDonald's
Great video man. As a comic collector these are always intriguing to see. Hey just letting you know collection is spelled incorrectly in the title,
Thanks! Fixed
Thank you for sharing it with us
I am overloaded with inventory from bulk purchases of collections over the years and ebay too slow. I would love to get rid of it in chunks like on whatnot auctions. (ie carded figures, 20 long boxes comics, character shirts, diecast). Do you have tutorials on getting started such as equipment needed, etc? Thanks
I recently did a live show video all about WhatNot. Check it out
Dragonflies are the world’s deadliest hunters 🤔
Perfect! LOL
New SUB - Thanks for the great content - LIKED
Thank you so much and welcome to the primetime family!
Roughly 17 cents a comic for a collection with new mutants 87, 98, and ASM 300, 361? Nice.
Yes. This is why I buy in bulk. Have done this many many times.
I just picked up a collection from a guy I knows wife he had passed away a year ago she knew I collected and sold me the entire collection about 15k books TONS of keys alot of gold/silver age for 2k
Nice!
i'd say 10k would be the price i originally would have quoted for sure. great deal at 8.5k
As a kid this would've been like a wet-dream getting my hands on a collection like this, all at once!
I’m still going through it! Lol
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter Aaaw Man!! .. Too sweet!! Enjoy! I'm curious to see some of your nicest finds in this haul..

New to your channel. Looking for Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, other Star Wars books. Awesome collection you bought. Whatnot the only place to buy books from you. I am a Xmen and Spiderman too

So one man's obsession and compulsion becomes that of another man.
Not really, LOL. I am selling them like crazy on WhatNot. Come on by one night see!
100% yes! All very good points but we’ve got it well managed. Sounds like you have an amazing collection. Thanks and be sure to subscribe
