Yooo Alvin, its dennis from dbhs. crazy i randomly stumbled on this vid. props to a solid run bro. i'll be doing LA this year if you're running that. keep at it man.
thank you for that excellent race recap. I hope as time goes by and your immediate emotions from the race subside that you can appreciate that no PR should ever be disappointing! By the way when the idea of qualifying for boston first came into my radar, I didn't actually qualify until about 11 years later. And that was before the BQ time for your age group is at a 3:00 flat, which I think is a super high bar. But that high bar just makes the BQ feel all that more satisfying. I am confident you will get it!
Found your channel through AHRC and loved these two CIM videos. Definitely taking notes to help me improve my chances at a BQ this year in 2024. Sub 3 is A goal. BQ is B goal. PR under 3:13 is C goal.
I’m from Sac and just came across your channel. Drawn to your chill vibe and casual video style while running at such an incredible pace. Good on you for finishing the race. Running my first marathon in LA in a couple weeks - aiming for a sub 4, appreciated your insight on your 2023 LA recap.
Great job making the best of a not so great situation, Alvin. I had to stop and pee during a marathon last Fall. Felt so defeated! I’ll be running CIM in ‘25, appreciate the recap as it helps with my planning. I’ve heard from many that the rollers in the first half can be brutal!
Nice recap. That’s a huge PR, despite where your goals were at initially. Super strong. Inspiration as I head into the Houston marathon. Nice work on the race and the vid.
Nice recap! Sounds like you still had an amazing weekend and plenty to build on. Also, you got a pro-mist filter on your sit down camera? Sheesh that looks saucy ✌🏻
Same! See you there! By nature of a marathon, I think the second half is always harder haha. But if you're saying just by course profile, I think so imo!
@@alvinma2460Hi Alvin, great to see your insight of CIM. I am doing that in next month too and hope you can provide some more info regarding to the "rolling hills" on the first half of the course. Are they long and steep hills or just a lot of back-to-back up and down to invite runners to run too fast than planned pace? Since you mentioned that you already had the negative splits plan, was that still not enough? Good luck to all your races.
@@stevewang2012 Nah, I don't remember them being steep at all. Just enough to notice, and the frequency of it got a bit jarring. I also went out way to hot in the beginning hence just falling apart in the end so I couldn't negative split
Watching this before CIM 2024
