My coworker sent me this video. I was your bus driver that morning and just wanted to say great job on your finish! No easy feat for sure. It's neat to see a runner's POV after they've left the buses and are out on the course. Hope to see you next year and on your way to Boston!
Hi Alvin, maxmax here. I enjoyed watching every second of your video. Different pace, but quite relatable to my race as well, also how my mind was changing over those miles went by. Uphill mile 8,9, started feeling it after half, physical and mental struggle, seeing my goal pace going away, seeing my B goal passing by, Ironically those sceneries through painful 20+miles were such a beautiful snapshots in my memories, the bridge and endless cheering spectators, the finish.. again, I fully enjoyed your video and it made me......want to come back again, dang it. Thank you for your hard effort carrying camera and made this beautiful clips. See you soon, the great park gate keeper!
DMAX!! Thank you so much! That is so true, 20+ miles was indeed very scenic as well. You did well and I look forward to doing more marathons with you 🙂
Great video Alvin! Great race and great job holding on until the end! Maybe it didn’t go the way you had hoped but this will make the race where you sub 3 even sweeter. Look forward to your next race!
I enjoyed seeing your BQ attempt because I felt everything you did when I was trying to achieve that goal.... but that was in 1989 at Las Vegas. BQ times were easier to get then but the science for nutrition during the race was not there so it was just grab a cup of what ever at the aid stations. I crashed at mile 25 and lost my sub 3 but ended up getting my BQ because I put it all out there like you did. You WILL GET your BQ.... just keep trying and learn along the way. Keep fit and choose a better course.
Ya did your best and prepped in due diligence and was rewarded with rare and valuable experience that not many can claim to have. No BQ this time around but I'm sure you'll get the BQ next year. Keep pusheen :D
I understand you are disappointed you did not reach your BQ goal - but with the average marathon finishing time of more than 4 hours, you should be VERY PROUD of yourself for being at least an hour faster than the average marathoner. Well done!
New sub: great job I def seen you.. was attempting sub 3 as well . I actually got it 2:59.51 - I believe you went out a bit fast my belive in the beginning tho you did great my man cheers to more miles
Way to battle man, are those the adios pro 3s? That would be a sub 3 in chicago vs those rollers the whole way. Man what happened to that guy in front of u near the finish, calf cramp?
