    I've seen many so called PRican videos trying to discuss our unique vocabulary/slang but miss the mark....this one is more accurate....I just want to make some points clear..... PRicans DO NOT say.... "ahorita", it's "horita". "Revolú" is distinctly PRican. Other distinctly PRican slang words are "mano" which has the same spelling as the word hand in Spanish but "mano" in PRican slang is short for hermano.... meaning a friend. Another PRican slang term for friend, ect is.... "pana". "Acicalao" is when a guy just got out of the barber, he got a fresh haircut or beard trimmed. "Corillo" means a group or gathering of friends hanging out or going somewhere to hang out.

    • @IAMBENNYBLANCO.
      @IAMBENNYBLANCO. 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "Mostro" o "caballo" is said to a male who is real good at something he's doing.

    • @IAMBENNYBLANCO.
      @IAMBENNYBLANCO. 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      "Paquetero" o "embustero" means a liar

    • @IAMBENNYBLANCO.
      @IAMBENNYBLANCO. 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "Loco" O "loquillo".... is what guys call each other, this is also distinctly PRican slang too.

    Hola Natalia, tengo varios amigos boricuas y disfrute mucho tu vídeo. En Chile usamos Brutal también, “que brutalidad mas grande”, pero no es muy común... La palabra Chevere es mayormente Venezolana, puedes ver su origen aqui: es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chévere
    En Chile, y en la mayor parte de Sud America, no se usa “Ahorita”, si no “Ahora”, que es ahora mismo... Es interesante aprender las costumbres de otros paises, especialmente hablando el mismo idioma pero a veces con diferentes significados...

    I just stumbled across this video. First, this slang is old school lol. It tends to permeate our generation because the older generation uses it so much. My cousins on the island don't use many of these words. Their slang is on a completely different level. Second... bregar isn't a word outside of PR?! I say it constantly lol I had no idea that isn't a real word outside PR.

    Abombao is also used in Dominican Republic, same meaning.
    Chévere is used in Venezuela more than any other country; used in RD, too.

    Hoy precisamente pasamos el 4 de julio en casa de unos amigos Puertorriqueños y si tuvimos un rato chistoso tratando de traducir algunas palabras especialmente mis niñas o nenas que no hablan tanto español. Abombao en mi Español “mexicano “ es inflado /puffed.
    Chavo/ chico o niño

    Thanks so much for this! My father is Puerto Rican but I have more European blood so no one really believes me lol although Puerto Ricans are usually very mixed anyways. He didn't raise me speaking Spanish cause I guess he just wasn't interested in teaching us. I'm glad to learn more and more about my heritage from these videos.

I’m currently studying Spanish and Puerto Rican culture since my family moved away from their Puerto Rican roots and traditions. I wish I grew up in Puerto Rico but it is what it is. As I’m growing up, I’m trying to teach myself more Spanish and about my culture. 🥰🇵🇷

    I saw a comment on here by someone that said something about Puerto Rican- There is no such thing as a "Full" Puerto Rican, or "100% Boricua". We are all mixed. Being latino is not a race but an ethnicity. We are a mixture of people- mestizos.
