I told you before, and I will tell you again. I love the way you speak. Your are a model for me. You're doing a great job for those who want to learn, who want to be better at speaking, for those that sometimes get frustrated in the learning process. I wish you to get what you deserve: wealth, health and happiness
I am American. I mainly listen to you to hear the British accent, love it by the way, as most Americans do. Curious how we sound to you guys, harsh? Very flat? The northern British accent like up in yorkshire is quite different, a lot of long u sounds. Good video.
Im not sure that's true mate, when people hear my accent when i talk in online games in american severs, they mock me and some are very rude to me just because of "my English"
@@jorgerodriguezvisual kinda, i mean i can say i got like a modern rp accent but maybe because i got mixed dialects between British and Colombian accents sometimes it can sound "different" because i was born in the UK but i grew up in Colombia because of my father's job, anyways, some Americans have been rude to me when they hear me
Thanks a lot, Jade! I enjoy YOUR accent very much! Besides, I am among the people who like you and who have been waiting for your such helpful videos and sometimes we want just to see that you are OK. TAKE CARE😍!
I was about to give a speech at EF about teaching yourself an accent of English and the ideas you expressed are so very similar to mine. I came up with the same method of modelling your future speech on someone else's, and you also mentioned IPA as a great way to pinpoint sound differences. Wonderful video as always, Jade! You have been my model as far back as 2013.
I'm in a locality in the UK, which I'm not going to mention😝 , and some people here do not usually articulate when they speak. I'm not complaining because it's normal here. However, I took advice from you and I always remind myself to speak slowly and clearly because I'm using English as my second language. Big big thanks to you for your hard work that has help so many already.
Hi there Jade. Firstly, it is superbly charitable and philanthropic of you to reveal your biggest accent secrets and it deserves the an ultra-thank you from Teddy 001 and I. I myself use a technique very close to yours. As I am trying to regain my natural from a little boy King's English accent (for which I am succeeding with your magnificent course, Clear Up Your Accent, which I urge everyone to purchase for it is superbly informative and easy to follow), I will watch a video of eg Lord Alec Douglas-Home and recite his speech along with him. As I am lucky to have a semi-photographic memory, I then recite this speech back again on my own. However, one INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT point that you mentioned, which I have never heard mentioned by any Speaking Coach I know which is why I consider you to be THE VERY BEST is that: if you want to really sound like the person you are copying you need to enter into that person's mindset as they are speaking. For example, Lord Douglas-Home always appeared very relaxed yet utterly statesmanlike when he spoke. When I enter into this calmness of mind (using meditation beforehand if I need) and focus on speaking with that sort of elegance, it just makes me sound that much more polished, the icing on the cake if you will. Five stars to you Jade for alluding to this ULTRA-IMPORTANT point in this video ✰✰✰✰✰
IPA is really the key to success; that's what I try to teach my University students in German. Warm greetings from Warsaw. Stay as you are. You are fantastic and very beautiful :-)
Thanks Jade for making comeback and see you alive n kicking. I don't know how to help you facing that bad times except praying you to get well soon. Anyway, I am glad to see you back in this way.
Hi jade, once again, you are sensational, you are courageous and you are unique. Since these 2 months, I have found you are resilient, you are increditable and you are stonger than ever! This time, your auido pausing technique is remarkable! You are always my all time favourite teacher. I have been learning from your videos since 2014. Now, sometimes when I talked to the native English speakers, some of them asked me if I have ever lived in England before ....... (unfortunately, i have never been to the UK yet) Actually, it is just because of you! Believe it or not! (i am from HK) By the way, I am still hoping to find a tutorial about "there you go", "here we are!", "off you go", "here you are", "here it is" ....... These are the kind of conversations I hear ALL THE TIME. But no one seems would explain to youtube Engish learners what they are? (it is a riddle......) Anyway, what a come back to you! I think you successfully combine your creativity into your teaching tutorials. (like you said "adding drama") I cannot stress enough how wonderful you are as an British language expert! You really have contributed a lot to the British English learning community! Thanks!
so good to see you back. I've learned alot from all of your previous videos. so just wanna thank you for helping me. pls keep making such videos. I hope you're fine. Love from India.
Hi Jade, thanks a lot for the tips! I do so every day. I take shots of your videos on my dictaphone and listen to them on the way to work or at home. Dictaphone is therefore very good because I can adjust the tempo of the speak. So I can make the texts very slow if I want to hear the sounds to copy them correctly. Thats very effective for me. Thnaks again for your great job!
I've learn a lot of sentence from your video over 3 years, but I couldn't speak perfectly like native speaker, hope I can do it after ten/fifteen years. Thanks for the lesson then.

To be honest, When I speak in english it sounds just the same as yours. I like your accent my brilliant teacher! keep on teaching us! and we'll keep it forever! :*
Thanks for all the tips and secrets! The way you pronounce “something”… I don’t think I’ve heard it before 🤔 I like the sound of it but I wonder where that comes from
Hi Jade! Could you tell me anything about the lip shape that we need to maintain while speaking standard British accent. I saw an accent video a little while back, and the teacher said that we need to maintain kinda a rectangular shape in our mouth, and a stiff upper lip. I just wanted to know if that's really the case. Thanks in advance.
Haha, here I am again. Before I finish this episode, I saw there is another episode for Chinese, I couldn't help thinking is that for me? Ahah, thanks as always, now I'm gonna watch that.
Thanks Jade. I have a question about selecting a person. When we selecting a person to practice accent, it is necessary to select with same gender. Is there any accent difference between a female and male ?
Hello, a lot of people ask me to repeat myself as they generally don't understand me. Out of interest I have tounge tie. Which means my tounge is tied at the very top, hence I can't stick it out etc. I'm english so accent is not an issue. Do u think this is a factor to my lack of clarity?
If you want you can send me a voice audio sample of you speaking naturally in a single take telling me about yourself and your issue and I will give you my feedback. Email an audio of 3min max if you're interested.
I’d like to model my speech and accent on the guy from Police Academy who impersonates phasers from Star Trek he’s awesome. Or maybe speak like BRIAN BLESSED!!!! that would be useful if you had to communicate to someone far away. Tops as usual Jade👈🙂🍸
Oh, Jade are you travelling to Italy because of the Italian flag behind you. I will listen to a song by the Beatles when reading IPA for words.I can-'t accompany Mac Cartney I am so awful.
Hi Jade thanks for the advice. I’ve been for years listening to audio conversations with transcripts to improve my speaking skills. However I’m still having difficulties with the accent and pauses. Didn’t cross my mind about splitting up the audio into chunks and try mimicking it. Anyway, would someone be better at speaking or just be ‘scripted’ if they listen and ‘mimic’ the person in a recording? I ask this because it seems that a person will be “conscious” of himself whenever he is being recorded. That recorded conversation then wouldn’t be as natural as the normal conversation that he would otherwise has in an everyday setting. Thanks again for the advice and have a jolly good weekend!
When people are very used to being recorded, they aren't really conscious of it anymore. However, there is in general a difference between recorded speech and natural speech. Recorded speech is much more careful and clearer. Editing your own repeat-after-me audio is very time consuming. Perhaps consider joining my English Jade course, as it has specially designed exercises of this sort. If you have been reading transcripts for a few years, it's probably time to learn in a more structured way such as by joining a course. www.englishjade.co.uk/

Comments allowed?! :O So cool! Never give up Jade. I don´t know how big was your blowback for speaking your political ideas loud but many people thanks to you understand the social mechanics of British classes! Much more important than the migrant stuff which is much more obvious. It must be frustrating to watch England do what it´s doing while being attached to it´s culture as much as you are. Also never forget you are not alone seeing your nation fail to grasp the reality on so many levels. I wish you well. Never let anyone to push you into purity spiral!
