wish too thank you for this incredible video!! I have spent the last 9 days under my car , on top of my car, beside my car, checking every vacuum line from front too back, too checking plugs , coil pack replacement, too plug wires, too fuel lines, and more more more, all too no avail!! The van was running great one day , smooth as a babies bottom, then POW! studder , stall , backfire, etc and almost dying on numerous occasions. I was about too give up to be honest and grab my shotgun and put it out of its misery, and mine. , and completely by accident i saw your video at about 02:00 and decided too watch it. Well when you got too the part about the frayed wires i was like....,,,,, omg could that be it?!! So i went outside poped the hood and OMG! , my wires are worse than in your video!!! I have Bare wires in that harness!! I have at least 2 bare wires touching each other in that same harness!!, i couldnt see it because my wires are hidden and couldnt be seen! , anyway just want too thank you. Even if it isnt alll the problem it sure is a bunch of it!! My van has been sputtering and sputtering for 9 days now , and it was driving me crazy. Thanks again for the great video..
I'm going through this right now on my 05 TAC!! I've changed plugs and wires and cleaned fuel injectors. Was about to check pcv and vacuume lines. Gina ho check that harness first! Hope this is the issue. Thanks
A wiring harness is $350.00... I make my own using Automotive wire. Box of pin outs..As you need them connector ends for the Injectors and the Connectors on each side of intake....And I use Tesa Automotive wire-loom tape... They will not fail again.... I would add. The reason it failed. They don't put the connector back in the hold down bracket.. then it shacks all over the place. With oil all over it...
Hi , I have 01 DGC sports and was all these codes and replacing all diff parts still not fixed.. I read somewhere melting fuel injector harness.. I just got to it yea mine it pretty bad the copper wires are all visible , I can’t even un wrap it bcz it so infused and brittle and wet with oil.. I took pic see and it was laying on exhaust manifold.. idk how long it takes before u know it melted? I didn’t started having issues until my plugs were replaced which was 2020 … where is that clip at to hold the connector? All I see is the clip for my plug wires in back… What was wrong with ur before ur figured it out?? Mine started stalling and now it doesn’t want to stay started..
Thank you so much for sharing this video. last year i took my 2010 chrysler town and country to the shop because it had an injector 2 staying open code. had the injector replaced and same problem occurred. The mechanic suggested i find an electrical mechanic which i did. the 2nd mechanic said it had corrosion in the harness. the problem was fixed as to it running far better but still a slight hesitation. the mechanic only addressed the problem with the harness but didn't address the injector again. my question is, should i replace the injector again since when i left the 1st shop it left in same condition??? I get a code here and then and it is the same code a year later after work was done even though went through a year with no code
Because the harness is not fixed.. They get brittle over time and break. As for some reason they thought putting that harness under the intake was smart. As it gets cooked. Add in the oil leaks people don't fix. It's like a toaster under there. Just have the whole harness rebuilt..That or pay $350.00 for a new one..
@@WizzRacing.. I found mine and I can see the copper wires and it brittle and oil like u described my broken but it to wet and melted too un wrap it.. Why didn’t they recall this? After replacement how can I keep this from happening again? Does the car to start to stall while driving or want stay started unless u keep the foot on pedal lol.. I all bunches of codes and replaced parts and still not fixed .. I found article on melting harness.
Hi, how much did you charge for this type of labor? I was charged $200.00 dollars and couple of hours later the check engine light came on while I was driving. Help me out so I can know what they are doing to my car.
im having the same error codes replaced the plugs and the wiring harness even the coil pack but still have a miss but no smoke out the exhust any ideas what it could be befor i go and buy a ECM!! ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE A HUGE HELP!! LOVE YOUR CHANNEL
Boy does it ever feel good to find the problem even if it is by happenstance. My 07 is misfiring and I'm at my wits end. I paused the video and grabbed my mechanics stethoscope that was given to me by a fellow tuber and did like you said but they were all firing. That's a good thing but I can't find the problem for the life of me. I have new plugs and wires. The coil pack is 4 yrs old. Any suggestions. Right now the only codes I'm getting is P0302 and P0073. I'm getting those from the car itself, I haven't had a tech scan it yet.
WallysPlace66 the stethoscope on the injector is not 100% definitive. You will need to verify its operation using amperage clamp with oscilloscope. Have you pulled the plug wire to verify spark?
I got 2003 dodge caravan. With p168.4 battery. P030.0 random misfire. P030.4 miss fire on cylinder 4. Yaaa I did have a code for front up stream 02 sensor .what I found online. Haven't drove the van much lately bc of o2 and now battery is sorta being funny. What you think?
Great job with video ... How come when doing the compression test why didn't you perform a wet test to check for valve seating. Hey man great job I liked your ability in introducing each step and why ...
Thank You for the video. I suggest that if you have a rough running caravan or town and country, check the injecor wire harness. The wire harness is prone to get fried. It runs along the exhaust and gets very hot. You will have to move the coil pack to get to the harness. Then peel the protective sleeve. When I replaced my harness I grab a extra sleeve from the junk yard and doubled it for better protection. I've been a certified caravan owner for 20 years. Don't ask me how I know.
+Auto Fix Pal Yeah I would certainly agree. Sadly most minivan owners abuse them and they're highly dependable for what they are. Most of them are owned by busy mom and dads, the kids trash them, they don't change the oil let alone give them a bath. I've seen some pretty nasty vans, the funny thing is I own two with over 160k on each and you could eat off the engines. We drive them, but we don't live in them! But doing my own maintenance I've gotten to know these vans right down to the exact desired trim level. lol.
How in THE hell does that motor stay that clean?! LOL. Every one I have seen...including mine with 258k miles, is greasy and oily. Wish the gaskets weren't such a nightmare in these!
Johnny Blade it was an electric ratchet. It doesn't impact, and only has about 35 ft lbs of torque. Not enough to get you in trouble.... However I'm not against using impact tools to remove spark plugs. I have been fixing cars for 18 years. I have only broken a spark plug in the head ounce and I was removing it by hand.... Noobs should not use impacts to remove plugs though.
Yes I agree I have been turning g bolts for 25 years and removing is probably fine but the way I was taught you never use air or electric tools for certain things. Spark plug threads are very touchy. I have seen noobs use it to remove and install. I'm just old school when it comes to that shit i guess
Hmmm.. good thing to check! Trying to troubleshoot my own van with misfire on #5. I'll check that out tonight! Thanks for sharing !

Scott Bissitt very happy this video helped. I guess the frayed wires in that section of the harness is not too uncommon.😎

I will check the wiring harness. Thanks, Amigo

That happened to my van waires where all fried together I replaced them and the pcm runs greate
why are you not checking the back plugs? I have cylinder 3 misfiring.
Robert Kattner because the back plugs are impossible to get to.
The back plugs are not that hard. Come on from drivers side.

I got the results I needed on the initial compression test. So no further testing was needed.

Good eye man!!!!
This is what i was deing with for 5 hours searching
Black smoke indicates a rich condition. White smoke indicates coolant in the cylinder.
catfisher420 thank u so much i didnt know that neither did the last guy who checked it and he works at a garage honestly!!! Smh...
White smoke could also be valve seals.
yes very good video ,,, Thanks
