The show felt like it was a part of the universe for the first two or three seasons but then afterwards, it started feeling less and less canon because it felt like stuff that was happening in the show should have been acknowledged in the greater MCU but it wasn't. Then the snap happened and obviously they didn't even address it and I lost all hope of it actually being canon. It seems like they diverged into an Alternate Universe, maybe in Season 5, and never came back which sucks. They referenced Thanos casually in Season 5 and I got my hopes up that they actually were still being informed about the plot in the MCU and could build around it and was pretty excited to see the snap happen in the show... then nothing. That was when I really lost hope it was canon. Then when they said they were delaying season 6 until after Infinity Wars, I was so excited and thought they were definitely going to address it and just weren't told about the snap because they wanted to keep it from spreading but could tackle it now in the new season even if it would be kind of off timing wise. Then Season 6 completely ignored it (and it was probably my least favorite season to be honest) and moved on to their own stuff and, welp, I guess that was that. At least Season 7 was pretty great and ended on a good note, but yeah... I think it diverged from MCU canon a long time ago and never came back because the MCU writers just didn't feel like bringing the TV writers into the know like they did back in the first season.
