ms chami was my teacher. if I didn't have her as a teacher, i would not be as aware as I am now, nor would I be as community conscious as I am now. im so glad she was my teacher

Ms. Chami was my teacher she’s one of the teachers that have inspired me to become a teacher myself because of how she treated her students and everyone around her. I loved having her and anyone would be lucky having her as a teacher. ❤

Homeschooling has been a bless in that regard and I agree we need more creative writers or more exposure to books from our community.. literally I cannot tell you enough how many stories and books are pushed down the pipeline in schools and even as a homeschooler researching what to read that talk about Jewish culture, Jewish tragedy and all that which are all valid but at this point it seems like the only thing and we are forgetting to teach our children other tragedies. How many stories of people in Gaza can be a book now! I mean so many hero’s and Martyrs that we can read about, Bisan (the story teller) is one of them personally that I think she should have a book written about her, Hind.. I mean the list goes on.. stories about the Nakba! I mean even the books that were written about that is by Jewish authors who support the Palestinian cause.. we need more creative writers for sure!

This was an excellent discussion, I disagree with stepping out of a majlis, but I do agree we need to reform the way some speakers will relay the masaib, very brave of your guest to say so out loud.

What a gem Zainab is mashaAllah! JazakAllah khair for this thought-provoking conversation, and for Zainab to share her wisdom and experiences. I related to much of what she said in regards to being first-generation muslims, having double identities, being a former educator who wanted my muslim identity to be the only identity that stood out. I can keep on with the list.
    MashaAllah, what a profound woman!
Among many questions this episode has me reflecting on is this: What does a parent do that an adult child speaks of them with the utmost admiration during their life and after their passing?

I really enjoy this podcast and look forward to the growth of this channel. I will say in addition, I find sometimes that the interviewer cuts the interviewees often mid sentence and it would be great as an audience member to hear less interruptions. JazakAllah Khair

Let alone عام الحزن of رسول الله out of grief for his wife and uncle 🌾🙏. So public grieving isn't an exaggeration but rather من أعظم الشعائر
    Much respect for you both.

I agree with you Zainab; Quran itself is an example of how human our Prophet (PBUH) is. He was being consoled by Allah throughout the Quran. If we read Quran in context, we realize that almost every Surah is consoling our Prophet (PBUH) for the bullying he faced at the hands of Quraish, Christians and Jews of the time

Montessori is a great alternative! I left my career to become a Montessori teacher. It's a pedagogy that educates the whole child.
Just watch out for critical theory and critical pedagogy though!

    المجالس مدارس
And honestly, the ones who see these majlis as exaggeration, haven't understood the tragedy of the ahlubayt yet.
Lady Fatima al-Zahra A.S. herself used to cry so much near her father's grave to the extent that people of Madina used to complain about her. So is that an exaggeration too?!!
The tears shed in majalis are the core thing that gave the martyrs we have and is what shaped us and installed the spirit of resistance within us.
Prophet يعقوب cried for prophet يوسف so much so that he lost his eyesight although he knew his son was still alive so is that an exaggeration too?!!
Prophet Muhammad pbuh had cried for the tragedy of Imam Hussein A.s. when the imam was still unborn.
مصيبة ما أعظمها و أعظم رزيتها في الاسلام و في جميع السماوات والأرض!!!

Since most people cannot afford private schools, parents should teach at home subjects like religion, ethics, morality and civics. Hard to depend public shcool teachers for all that a student needs.

So much for a free country, when the both of you are self censoring because of the rainbow mafia. Jafar doesn't want to have a strike on his channel and Zaynab doesn't want to be reprimanded at the public school.
Other communities and religious groups look at the Muslims who are capable of putting a stop to the degeneracy that's taking place in the society, because Islam is about family values and focus on raising children on the correct path.
As far as the the exaggeration of the majalis, I would advise Zaynab to look into Sheikh Mohammad Taqi Bahjat and understand what it means to cry and shed tears for Imam Hussain.
I hope Jafar can reach out and have a podcast with Hajj Khalil Jafar to give more understanding about majalis/azadari and raising children in the west.

If you’ve watched previous episodes, you’ll know that these subjects have been opened and discussed before. That subject was just not on the list of things that I had planned to talked to Zeinab about so we brushed past it. What Zeinab said, I don’t totally disagree with as well and the whole point of having these conversations is sharing ideas and points of views. You don’t have to agree with them and you can come up with your own judgement on any subject discussed. I hope this clear things up.

It was gutsy from Zeinab to even say something like that publicly. My job is not to censor ideas that I don’t agree with. You can say whatever you want and have your own opinion. As long as you’re ready to discuss it then that’s all that’ll be asked from you.
