Very grateful for your podcast and the range of topics you cover. You have great talents, especially as you come up with questions based on the person’s answers, not just sticking to a script. Based on the importance of narrative, how would you feel about shifting from calling it a “war” to calling it a genocide? IMO, “israel’s” action funded by the imperialist west is an act of genocide in response to Palestinian’s resistance.

Parent of 2 kids with autism here been doing aba for 11 and half years - aba is helpful also focus and the strength and weakness of the individual- only when the parent and BCBA invested in the treatment plan of the child ALSO not treat aba as a daycare if at center or baby sitting thing if it was home based - you need to understand that no one come with manual on special needs however the connection the BCBA along with BT is crucial and creating the environment for aba methods are carried out through the daily cycle not just during the program - patience - prayer-crying and oh you see the true color of your family member who deserve to be in your life and whom not !!! - it is tough and has it ups and downs however we as community and society we are still million light year away from ACCEPTING the individuals with intellectual disability and unfortunately still many arrogance individuals whom are like pot holes they will keep showing but keep your gear up - educate yourself as a caregiver and don’t neglect because it is not ok nor forgiven 🫷- in regards to the breaking bad habit of aggression and violence a person might have trauma that affected such behavior even if binge eating !!! So before you treat anything as a behavior make sure to check the medial diagnostic- 👍-

Other than school, you shouldn't work harder for your career than your deen. I want you to start new rules in life and dont want you to ever be hesitent on doing them; 1. Pray on time 2. Literally stay on wuduu even when you dont have to pray. 3. Read kor2an daily, if you dont know arabi read in english or duaa, but highly recomment to know arabi. 4. (People might not like this or even discus it, but it's something that my religious friends and I found helpful.) - its the specific desire, youre at an age which you have been experiencing for quit a while now, i want you to make sure youre lowering your gaze and literally dont look at women unless you guys are talking even that at certain time limit it, make sure to not lower your gaze when watching on your phone. Trust me, 5aye, you might fond this "mmmm ill see" but wallah it will change your life. I love you for the sake of allah, hbb.

I feel so bad how competitive college admission is getting for these kids. My college counselor got into my school with a 2.7 gpa. I squeaked in with a 3.2. it takes a 3.5 to get in now. Good grades are important but man... It's sad that kids don't have time to be kids if they want to get good grades in highschool to get into college

Great podcast, may Allah bless you and the Sayed. Sayed MBQ is one of the shining stars of Shia scholarship, may Allah spread his name and extend his life. While the podcast addresses a lot of misconceptions and taboos, there was still no mention of muta and its role in getting to know someone for marriage. Unfortunately, this side of muta is rarely ever explored - leaving non-Shias to focus on the abuses of muta (married men cheating on their wives without their knowledge, trafficking of young girls in Iraq and Iran etc). With people getting married in their late 20s now, we need to pull our head out of the sand and acknowledge that Islam has a solution for this in between period before marriage in the form of muta. Yes, it wasn’t necessarily used in the way during the time of the Prophet (it was used for men who would travel for many months/years and for widows who were rejected by society), but that’s because there was no need for it when people were getting married very soon after puberty. The Sayed mentions at the end that no matter how long you get to know someone, you will still only really know them after you get married and they get completely comfortable. Muta solves this. If you have been doing muta with someone, especially if you have lived with them (crucifixion from the community aside), you will know them. Yes, the Sayed brings up a valid point about the emotional hurt from getting to know someone for years and then not getting permanently married. However, contrast that with the hurt of getting married without fully understanding how this person acts at home and then getting divorced (this arguably carries more social stigma too). I disagree with the amount of weight given to society as well. The Sayed hints that his stance is more out of practicality, rather than him or Islam agreeing with society, but we must remember that Islam came to upheave Arab society (otherwise there would’ve been no need to send a prophet). The culture in our societies towards marriage is primarily motivated by pre-Islamic Arab chauvinism. Yes, there are hadiths that indicate some respect should be given to societal norms, but these are in instances where the societal norms are Islamically good (like the 4 months of no war) or mubah - not when they conflict with Islam. Even the ones that seem to give a pass to things that conflict with Islam, these (if authentic) are not necessarily endorsements, but rather just practicalities as Islam couldn’t change society overnight and Islam doesn’t want to cause excessive hardship to people. We should make more of an effort to combat unIslamic societal stigmas, rather than finding ways to live with them

This podcast is fantastic, and we’re truly blessed to have someone as esteemed as Sayed in our community. However, as the host, it’s important to let Sayed take the spotlight. Your role is to guide the conversation with thoughtful questions, not to overshadow it with your own perspectives. Constant interruptions disrupt the flow and take away from what we’re here for Sayed’s insights. Please allow the conversation to breathe, letting us fully absorb his wisdom and experience. A great host facilitates the dialogue without getting in the way.

    • @podnotfromhere

Hello. I appreciate the feedback! This is perhaps a different format than what we are used to when it comes to scholars talking. The things that we typically know is them talking uninterrupted in a lecture and those have their times and places to consume. This is a different approach where I, just like all of us, have questions and am curious to ask about things related to our lives and just have a conversation with someone that is knowledgable about a specific topic. The intent was never for Sayed to answer interview questions and just let him go on speaking on marriage. It was to engage with him, ask questions out of my personal experience, and build a relationship with him. I hope this clears it up.
