It very simple, "Why do we keep Buddy? Because we love him!" 🥰
Tyler you are not only a great rancher but a compassionate one also. Good for you. I remember when you found Buddy and his/your journey. I love watching you and the whole gang. Best creator on TH-cam hands down!!
I recently discovered FTR. I am hooked already and watch for new videos. He reminds me of my favorite TH-camr Cody on @WhittAcresHomestesd
Don't forget Buddy's role as a companion to other animals in situations where they would otherwise be alone.
Yes, very true.
I've always had a soft spot for Buddy. He's just so friendly and looks like he was born that way lol. Thanks for putting his whole story together for us!
Every team needs a mascot and that’s the way I see Buddy. He was the lucky twin. 😊
LOVE this episode! Therapy steer, cow companion, FTR mascot. Whatever his job is, we love him!
You said that Buddy didn't have a purpose. I have been watching your channel as long as you have been here, and I have to disagree with you about this.
Remember the time Buddy helped you with keeping the Bismarck Bull company when he was very young? Remember when Buddy helped with other young calves. Seems like Buddy has been your solution to more than one cow society issue over the years. He is your pet, he helps the farm, he is just wonderful in my eyes. And I am proud of you for remembering now, just how helpful he has been and will continue to be........😊
Buddy is a sweet gentle giant.
Therapy Steer... I LOVE that!!!! Thanx for the Buddy story
What a lovely story. So nice to see compassion in farming. Not only with Buddy but with your entire hard.
I totally agree, you might need strong hands to be a farmer/rancher but also you have to be caring and compassionate, in Tyler's case, he's just a softy with a big heart! That's why I watch his channel.
I LOVED this story on Buddy!!
Buddy is such a nice boy it's very easy to love him. Thanks for the walk down memory lane 🥰
Sandi Brock is a Canadian TH-camr who has a flock of sheep she calls her golden girls. They are too old to reproduce and she’s attached to them also. Glad Buddy is enjoying a wonderful life with you and your family.
I’m subscribed to Sandi Brock …Sheepishly Me, too. She’s a wonderful, caring farmer as well.
I watch Sandi too - the Golden Girls rule ! Farming is tough and I’m sure it’s nice to see a friendly face who is happy to see you - pets make the good days better, and the bad days easier to bear
Glad to hear you are going to keep Buddy to his end. Thanks Tyler.
He is the ambassador of the ranch!!!! I remember him becoming the bottle calf!!!!
Buddy is our BUD
It doesn't seem like Buddy should be five already. Handsome boy.❤
Nice to have an emotional support Hereford!
You’re an excellent story teller.
It's hard to believe that I have been watching you for more than 5 years. Buddy is famous! He is loved by you guys and by all your subscribers.
Buddy reminds me of a dog by wagging his tail...He's so mellow!
Yall leave Buddy (the therapy steer) alone! He is doing a fine job exactly where he is.❤❤❤
I remember when you found Buddy and I thought then that it was divine intervention that you found him in time figuring out what had happened. You are a very good rancher, but an even better person!! We all love Buddy!!!!
Yay, Buddy. Thank you, you are a great rancher. ❤
Accept it Tyler you just love him as much as we all do 😅
Buddy is sweet. And gentle!! ❤
Every now and then :) Thank you for saving Buddy
LOVE "upgraded from livestock to pet"!
Love Buddy..I have watched him from birth..
Your wife and kids love him. That is the key.
Thanks for the update.
Buddy is good for all of us.
I love your back story on Buddy. Thanks for filling us in.
I remember when buddy got his first bottle! He has became a beautiful boy!
Buddy is a part of the family and he is good for the soul
Whenever you show the herd, I try to spot buddy. He’s a treasure.🎉
Buddy is doing a great job just being Buddy!!
Gowing up we had a discarded twin steer named "Norman". Named him after the calf in "City Slickers". His mother had stepped on him and we nursed him back to health.
Well done, Tyler. You perfectly designed this message to your subscribers. Thank you.
Thanks for the Buddy story, now I know! Thanks for the watch
This was fantastic. Thank you for taking time out to make this and giving us an in-depth look at one of the reasons we're FTR fans and specifically Buddy fans. I've been here since before you found Buddy and am delighted to have been taken down memory lane, not that I needed to be shown. Buddy is one thing I look for in all of your videos. This was an awesome way for me to start my day online. I'm not sure if you're aware of this but your personality and spirit is perfect for being a content creator. I look forward to every post you make and truly cannot imagine not having you as a part of my regular online experience. A special shout out and thank you to Bree and Macy for being part of the reason Buddy is a permanent part of FTR.
❤😊 yes it is a good idea
I always ended up with 2 bottle calves a year❤😊
I always ended up with 2 bottle caĺfs each year
We all need a Buddy! I would have a hard time saying good bye to him as he is a good looking boy.
So glad he is still there. Love Buddy❤️
Emotional Support animal 🎉 way to go Buddy!
I always noticed how well you treat the animals. If you didn’t treat them humanely I wouldn’t watch. I’ve been watching since you took Buddy into your home. I just can’t believe that’s been 5 years ago.
Your Buddy "story" is why we love you, Tyler!
I couldn’t love this more!❤
😢, have to admit I shed a tear, Buddy is just "special " glad he's there! God bless you all!
Makes for good talking at the PUB - "I've got a 1600 pound pet - beat that"
Buddy is one lucky steer! Thanks for showing us that farmers have big hearts❣
I love it!!!! Buddy the THERAPY steer. Such a great name for today days “age”.
How about Buddy on a T=shirt? It certainly would sell :)
Already the proud owner of a Farmer Tyler t-shirt (Christmas gift from my son), I would definitely love to add an official Buddy t-shirt!
Never had a therapy steer but one of the farms I worked at had a therapy cow and it was great. This was a dairy farm and having one old pet cow made my job so much easier. She was too old to be the leader of the herd but cows will follow when one starts moving. She always knew where to go, came when I called and followed where I led. Moving pastures or getting them back to be milked was easy when all I had to do was call her and didn't have to push the herd.
From Pretoria, South Africa. I thoroughly enjoyed your telling of Buddy's history. I hope he gives you many more years of joy. 😅
Buddy does have a job. You have put him with young bulls for a companion 😂
I have a Buddy at our farm, his name is Willie. His mom died at his birth so I raised him….like yours he will live his days here……love your channel.
Nice job Tyler … sometimes you “play the cards you’re dealt”. God bless you and yours young man … know you still fondly remember Max.
You've made my day. Buddy is definitely a special boy. He is so cute. ❤ I totally agree. He is definitely an emotional support animal.
People spend thousands of dollars on there pets but Buddy just gets his share of feed and that’s not much plus yall love him well worth the feed have a good weekend.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I think a therapy steer is perfect. You never know how he may bring calm to some of the other cattle too.
I was waiting patiently for you to say: "We just love Buddy"! That's what makes your channel so enjoyable it's so family oriented. God Bless!
Buddy was the lucky twin. We love him!.
In this world we experience so much violence and sadness, it is nice to see a heart warming story. Give Buddy a head rub for all of us.
Favorite video of all time! I can’t believe it’s been five years. I became a subscriber because of buddy and I still love him to this day.❤
Buddy's purpose is to bring a smile to many faces & peace & happiness to the FTR!!! 😊❤❤😊
It was great to see Buddy grow up from the little guy laying in the middle of the pasture to your Therapy Steer. Everyone does need a Buddy just as much as Buddy needed your family. Hereford cattle will always have a place in my heart as does Buddy.
Buddy is a real star in your story, he adds another flavour to the farm
Buddy!!! I am so glad you kept him!!!
I like all of your vids but Buddy's story is right up there at the top.
I can’t believe I’m crying. It’s so refreshing to see how you treat not only Buddy but your entire herd along with all your other animals . . . I’m so touched by your compassion. Thank you 🙏🏼 ❤
We do love him and remember his beginning very well, he’s part of the farm for sure! So happy he’s yours for the rest of his life! I’m so happy you did, he’s a good boy!!!! Don’t listen to the naysayers, you have to have a heart to understand! He’s a keeper!!! ❤❤❤❤
I remember Buddy's story very well. He was so cute and still is. I've been watching this channel from the beginning, and I've never been disappointed in the content, nor have I ever once thought of you, FT, as any kind of farmer/rancher other than excellent at everything you do. That includes taking good care of all of your animals. I really don't see how anyone has the nerve to criticize you. You're the best!
Been watching this channel since before Buddy. He became a favorite, with his friendly, gentle demeanor. and it's amazing to realize he's been around for five years! IIRC he hit that growth spurt around the time the cattle mineral was switched to the good Redmond stuff. Prior to that, he was small and his coat was a dry orange color, but then he grew massive and his coat changed to the classic Hereford red. I'm so glad to hear he'll have a home for life, and the best possible home at that. He's a cool guy and it's always fun to see him in the videos.
We love you Tyler and always look forward to another video ❤please don’t listen to the negative comments they are probably sitting on their couch not doing anything productive in their life lol just do what you do best being farmer Tyler ranch following you around doing your everyday chores we love it please keep those videos coming ❤❤❤❤
"Therapy Steer" that gave me a good belly laugh!
Buddy is a living memory and testament to your beloved friend Max. Until this video, I didn't realize that is how you rushed Buddy home. He might have perished otherwise.
Buddy is FTR mascot! 5 years …has it been that long! I recall Buddy was born during Covid! He is a survivor!
Love the video on Buddy. We have black angus and about 7 years ago , we had a calf born, his mother wouldn’t own him. After many bottle feedings, and a banding, he is now my gentle giant , steer, known as JR. He is about a foot taller than all the others, so he is easy to pick out at the trough. I wish I could include a picture. Keep up the good work.
We ran cattle but for a short while in the middle, ran some sheep and I get real attached to a bum lamb, which in the end got tore up by a pack of dogs. Broke my heart. Glad Buddys story has a better ending. And for sure; it does show the humanity.
Buddy is one beautiful animal. His eyes say it all. Thanks for keeping him.
Heartwarming story.... 👍
Good looking back thanks😊
I’m pretty sure every farmer has a “Buddy” especially if they have kids 😊 I Love the compassion you have for all your cattle. They bring your family financial stability entertainment and joy and with that I feel you have to have compassion and you are definitely proof of that!
Yep Buddy is your ESA 😂😂😂
We had one Jenny. Lived out her days on the farm👍
these animals sacrifice everything for us, their entire lives they serve us. with that being said they deserve the best treatment man can offer, this is how we honor them and their sacrifice.
I took fell in love with Buddy. Thank you for keeping him..❤😊
Buddy is a companion steer, and family farm pet. As a kid we had a “buddy”. He has grown so much, this video was his off to college. ❤ it, Blessed week and see you next time.
We have a cow that is now the pet. When we took over the ranch, we decided to sell half the herd. We only had about 25 head at the time. We couldn't find one of the cows while we were loading the trailer. We got the trailer loaded and gone, then we found out she was out dropping a calf. This is when our first experience of a new heifer calf happened. My granddaughter named her Milky, because she would try to suck milk from every cow and not just her mother. She was the first calf that we could get close enough to pet. She is old enough now where she has already had a couple of calves herself, but we still treat her different, because she lets us pet her. Although she is getting a little meaner now and bucks her head at us when we try to pet her, but she still gives in at times.
Love this. A lot of cattle operations have a Buddy and he does provide something important too. With his calm demeanor and size he helps calm the herd down just by how he reacts to you.
He always comes up right away and the other cows/calves see him not moving away and as herd animals they also don't react negatively.
Great video Tyler! We also have a Buddy, but her name is Annie. She was born in September of 2019. She was not a twin, but her mother didn’t want her. In fact, she tried to hurt Annie. So we took her and she was our first bottle calf experience. She is also very calm and comes to us, likes petting, etc. Annie thought for the longest time that she wasn’t a cow and wouldn’t assimilate with them. Fast forward….Annie does have a job on our farm. She has proven to be a good mother. She will be here to live out her life. Thanks again. We love your channel! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video - a therapy steer 🙂
Farmer Tyler -- you continue to exemplify the very best in ranching life. Have loved Buddy since you first found him and have been so gratified that you and your family have made him a beloved pasture ornament. Thank you for putting together his story!
Thanks for keeping buddy. ❤️🇨🇦
That was a lovely story. We had pet livestock at home, I had a pet hen for many years. All the best to you and your family, Annie
