Vancouver's SkyTrain uses similar trains to the kelena jaya line. The MK2s are slightly different, they are all two-car formations but are mostly seen coupled to make four cars. And as for the MK3s, they use an entirely different propulsion system.
Probably because of the narrower cars and shorter train length. The trainsets shown here seem pretty short to be considered as heavy rail. They look like Strassenbahns but on an elevated track. The difference between light and heavy rail is too nuanced to begin with so I don't think it matters that much.
Technically a light metro, somewhere in between the 2. Lighter than heavy rail, but with more capacity than light rail, due in part to the complete grade separation.
Do not bet on better hope for KJ LINE future with stingy finance minister, incapable public transport minister and ignorant PH govt on the need of more 4 car trains. The ministers in their high end cars don't know the struggles of average KJ line passengers.
Anyone know whether this line uses 4th-rail electrification (pair of side-running power rails) like the Vancouver SkyTrain or a third rail? Wikipedia says third rail but it looks like a fourth rail system in pictures
I’d venture to guess it uses 4th-rail if it uses the LIM and reaction rail. The whole point with not using the 3rd rail is that bc LIM uses magnetic attraction/repulsion, the wheels can’t maintain a stable enough connection with the running rails for them to be used as ground, hence the dual side-running power rails.

We're truly sorry for the delays of the headways cuz we're having problem with bombardier on the spare part for 10 damaged trains
I like the sound of the newer propulsion systems
Great trip! Thank you for sharing!
maintenance issues aside, the end to end time Gombak-Putra Heights should take no longer than 75-80 minutes.
I don't quite get it though, KL and Jakarta LRT are very much heavy-rail transit system like MRT. but why are they named LRT?

In asia LRT is actually medium capacity metro. But asian typically demoted them as LRT. 😅
I really hate they put 2 coaches train during peak hour
They are doing upgrading on the old 4 coach trains. I think about 28 sets not available during upgrading until late 2023
Same I really hate 2 coach I like 4 coach
