      I really wish carrier lock wasnt a thing in this day and age. The worst part is for devices that could allow modded firmware like Pixel. I have an older pixel that would be perfect for LineageOS, but b/c the device is carrier locked, I cannot install the firmware.

    Most of the world its illegal to sim lock a phone. We are so behind.

      I would imagine most carriers in the states would lock a device until it is paid off.

    I have a SIM card that removes carrier locked phones. bought in china like 8 years ago

      For that all I have to do is wait a few months. I can pretty much use the phone anywhere after that. The big trade off for me is the non-removable verizon apps and the delayed firmware updates. phone is great.

      lol. When it comes to Android for the most part I would say steer clear. Unless you keep phones forever and care nothing about custom firmware.
