Wow, Comac is delivering 33 ARJ21 by the end of 2024 to various airlines. Comac is growing rapidly as it is conquering the civil aviation market with a complete portfolio from the short range aircraft ARJ21 to medium range and long range wide body aircraft of the C919, C929 and C939. Indonesia has been using the ARJ21 for Jakarta-den pasar routes for sometime.
It will be some time off in the future before COMAC offerings are even competitive with Western product, much less "conquering the civil aviation market". The C919 for example is overweight and relatively fuel hungry. The ARJ21 is basically a knock-off of a very old McDonnell Douglas/Boeing design, lately retired from passenger service. The ARJ21 airframe is based on the old DC9, which was produced under licence in China. And the wings are designed by Antonov, so I would not call the plane very innovative.
