Not sure if these began in the time of Covid19, but I do hope that the Frick and Xavier Salomon continue this series. There are so many items in the collection and Salomon and his team bring tremendous insight to all of us. Thank you.
I did not know the history of the wonderful peacock room, and this elegant room came alive in this talk as did the portrait of Mrs. Leyland. But that is what Salomon does so well; he brings life and history to art and brilliantly connects all sorts of various dots.
Another gem in this wonderful series. I'm enthralled not only by Xavier's erudite yet droll commentary but also by the production values that are apparent in each of these presentations. Kudos to everyone at The Frick Collection for the quality of these pieces!
I have been enjoying the weekly episodes of Cocktails with the Curator and look forward to going back to the Frick to view these magnificent works of art.
These episodes have brought me so much joy. Thank you Xavier and The Frick. I loved this painting when I visited the museum. Now I know so much more about the painter and the history surrounding this work.
Thank you so much for this series, a glimmer of light in the pandemic. I been fortunate to visit some of the great museums in Europe ( mostly Italy), but Cocktails with the Curator has made me realize that we have some outstanding museums in our country. I should consider a tour of great Museums here instead of my annual trip to Italy ( or maybe both ). Grazie ancora.
Thank you for yet another wonderful conversation. The joy of the Frick collection is it's variety of pieces. It's a treasure that I look forward to visiting when the world opens for travel again. Keep safe and well.
Absolutely brilliant, thank you so much. I live in London and saw 'Filthy Lucre' at the Victoria and Albert Museum, which I am happy to say is now open again. I agree with the comment below - please keep up these lovely and inspirational pieces when Covid has retreated.
Thank you to Xavier Salomon for making Fridays so wonderful. I look forward to his review of the painting but more so the context and history around the painting. The Frick is my favorite museum.
This series has brought me so much pleasure. So well done Xavier and Aimee alike. We get to see Xavier in his home and I cant help but try to see what he has displayed in his space. I would love a tour of his art collection!!
I can't say enough thank you to this wonderful and inspiring series. It has surely broaden my views on arts. And it's uplifting to see many people here share the same feelings.
One of my favorite pieces of art at The Frick! Thank you Xavier and The Frick for entertaining us and educating us during this time. Can't wait until you reopen - The Frick is such a gem.
Again, we loved the episode. It is truly a highlight of our week. I can only imagine how much work went into the wonderful presentation. Too short! I would love more formal analysis of the paintings you are discussing. What makes this painting so beautiful? Nonetheless, a BIG thank you to Xavier and the Frick for doing this weekly presentation. Truly making the best out of the our plague times.
I enjoyed the video and intend to watch more. One minor correction though, Speke Hall is pronounced ”Speak” as in ”he started speaking in Welsh”. It's a stunning building and grounds to see around if anyone is visiting Liverpool.
Thanks so much for these videos. I’ve learned so much about art from them. Would love to have cocktails with Thomas More and Thomas Cromwell and have Xavier give a talk about how those portraits ended up at the Frick.
A very well done presentation that is expected of anything representing the wonderful Frick Museum. The drink? Why the drink like Julian of the Canadian reality show called Trailer Park Boys.
I believe that Whistler painted over antique leather wall covering in making the Peacock Room that was associated with a British king. He had not been given permission to do this. Another reason the relationship frayed.
I believe the other thing that Whistler did which annoyed Leyland during the renovation of the Peacock room was that he invited members of the press to come in and see it. The Leylands were away and had trusted him to make those relatively minor changes and in the meantime. He turned it into a publicity stunt for himself. I am sorry Whistler came between Mr. and Mrs. Leyland the way he did. Great artist but not a nice man.
Mrs. Layland is in here white dress seems to turn away and showing here profile and butterflyes is beautiful but jusually as the japanies are rather small and Mrs leyland seems to bee toll is may bee the selfportrai as artist selfporrait in japane as a pianist really grotesck.Anyway is alltogether art. Arrideveci grazia
Nice picture and nice accent but it’s disgraceful to drink Nihonshu with soda or anything else unless it’s the Gekkeikan I use for cooking. Excuse me for a sec while I refill my Sancerre-grapefruit cooler.
So much better than watching the news!

yes, I'm a staffer and am happy to share that this series will continue!
Absolutely wonderful series! The speaker’s voice delights as well!
These cocktails with a curator are art in themselves and a great contribution to recovery from the epidemic.
This series is brilliant, educational, and uplifting. Thank you, thank you. Mr. Salomon, you are a gift to the world.
I don't know if you have given me more of an education in Art History or in Mixology but I've learned a lot from the series. Thank you so much.
Such a wonderful series! Thank you for taking the time to bring these paintings into my home!

Cannot wait to see this! Xavier Salomon is brilliant. Brings the painting and its history to life
Marvelously delivered as always. A joy to Ed!
Another gem in this wonderful series. I'm enthralled not only by Xavier's erudite yet droll commentary but also by the production values that are apparent in each of these presentations. Kudos to everyone at The Frick Collection for the quality of these pieces!
I saw the original Peacock Room , and later the Waterston version. Both are highlights of my life and travels, as in "You had to be there!"

One of my favorite pieces of art at The Frick! Thank you Xavier and The Frick for entertaining us and educating us during this time. Can't wait until you reopen - The Frick is such a gem.
This was very interesting. I want to read more about Whistler's fascination with Japanese art. The delicate details in the flowers are beautiful.
I absolutely love your videos. They make the lockdown bearable.
What interesting anecdotes. The painting is striking. Enjoyed the video. Cheers
So good thank you, we are a week behind but look forward to our Friday nights with a curator! Cheers! 🥰🍸

I have another reason to be thankful it’s friday ... love these ... I’ve never been to the Frick, but it’s now on my list 🙃
My second favorite portrait at The Frick. Absolutely brilliant.

Hola from Key Biscayne, Fl. We love the Queens cocktail, that’s what we are having, Salud
wonderful! Thankyou
Some of these women's dresses are SO HEAVY!
Whistler was wise to design the frames. He knew the importance of context.
catching this show Live - Whistler underrated
I appreciate him implying I actually have a favourite saki! Gives me an enhanced sense of worth....
A wonderfully elegant comment.
As if you didn't already have one, Paul Klee indeed!
A very well done presentation that is expected of anything representing the wonderful Frick Museum. The drink? Why the drink like Julian of the Canadian reality show called Trailer Park Boys.
Very good love it

The World Health Organization recommends abstinence from alcohol during a health crisis!
Lin Barton - which is precisely why they were defunded!
Which is why no one pays any attention to WHO any more.
