Sucks that these in-movie journalists have more balls to drive across a war zone than most real life journalists could. It’s why I never bought this version. It’s why I created an alternate history story where even today’s journalists are more risky to get stories than our soy milk chugging types would ever be.

After easily accessible cameras, there's no reason to have a press honestly. The people are the press and you see this when the 'press' just reposts content from social media accounts. They are glorified content curators now that put a spin on a story. Now I do think they can be helpful for interacting and watching governments, but the only thing that is different is a journalist college degree, a press badge, and a job at a mainstream company.

Especially states who were divided before invasion by some outside forces. Ala. Russian Ukrainian war of our real world. It created a more divided nation.

And this new lady journalist, a gal who witnessed the corporate war between militech anf arasaka and later witnesses the new war. The South American federation. Invading their country. Cruel, though? An atheist has no concept of grace, mercy, or repentance. On the other hand, is the toddler, who knows only unbound wrath when denied a desire of the moment, especially when raised unchecked. These are the Left.
The Right is of Tradition. And while there will be reprisal, and retribution, the only cruelty in the minds of Good Men would be that which occurs upon the Innocent, when the Guilty go unpunished. Forgiveness and altruism are byproducts, come from fear of The Lord.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The MSM has lost all credibility and they did it themselves when they stopped reporting on the news and instead went to 1 hour (or more) News OPINION shows with pundits pretending to be News Presenters (Anchors). They tried to tell Americans these shows and the people hosting them were "Truth" and as such, there is no debate to be had.
Is it any wonder people are turning them off and instead, looking at numerous Independent Sources for actual news??? But even some of the bigger Independent News Sources are becoming overly biased to certain issues/subjects. After a while, you won't be able to trust anyone for unbiased news unless the Govt. (FCC), steps in (scary) and regulates these news sources and demands they "label" their shows either "News Reporting" or "News Opinion".

Ironically, this movie perfectly illustrates the political situation in the United States. It is so afraid of picking a side and being attacked for it that it ends up saying nothing at all. Just like so many of us. It's easy to speak candidly behind a screen of anonymity, like we do here, but once we go to work and have to leave that screen behind, we shut up or run the risk of losing our jobs. The true tragedy of this civil war isn't quantified by the hateful things we say, but in the things we are afraid to say out of fear of being hated.

Ideally that's how it should be BUT today's media is the opposite. In fact, the media is at fault for the division and hate ( by pushing false narratives) in this country. The movie is literally not about politics. It's about journalists reacting to horrible events happening around them. They react to both, Western forces and perceived "right wing dudes" horrifyingly. At no point in the film do they take sides. Its about society looking inwards and becoming soulless, hence the character of young girl being stupid and essentially become villain of the entire thing. Journalists are not depicted as heroes here. If you think they were, then you missed whole plot of the film.

9:51 This part reminded me of Nightcrawler when Lou deliberately gets his partner killed just so he could get the perfect shot. The biggest difference is that Lou is openly portrayed as an opportunistic sociopath and Nightcrawler is a scathing condemnation of sensationalism in the media, while Civil War portrays its characters as objective, world-weary journalists with integrity.

This film is a perfect representation of postmodernism. It's impossible for anyone in Hollywood today to write a movie about a civil war or any war. Modern Hollywood writers and producers are historically and reality illiterate. None of them has studied wars, especially civil wars, and how they get started or why they are fought. NONE OF THEM has ever been in war, served in the military (and i'll go one step farther, I doubt they even know anyone who has). A film about war from people who have only seen other films about war and talked about war on social media. It's a surface level understanding of war, journalism, and civil strife from people who have no experience or interest in really exploring ANY of those concepts.

My biggest takeaway from this movie is that journalists are heartless and soulless.

So the newbie gets her hero killed by doing something stupid, takes photos of the death scene and uses them to bolster her own career.... that sounds like every journalist I know about. Btw.. Gina Davis in the movie Hero was the best portrayal of a journalist I've ever seen.

Even before learning about the absurdity of Texas and Commiefornia ever allying I was put off when the trailer showed journalists are the protagonists we are supposed to empathize with when those cretins are one of the MAJOR contributing factors to U.S. tensions ever having gotten this bad since the ACTUAL (Historical U.S. civil war).
