  • Things never go quite the way they are planned when it comes to bikepacking, but it doesn't mean it isn't a really enjoyable experience in a beautiful part of the world.
    I travelled to the most northerly point of the Opal Network in NSW; Dungog. From their, I rode via Black Camp Creek across to Stroud and then via Branch Lane down to Kurauh. Finally, I cut across country, through the Meadowie State forest to Newcastle where I caught the train back to Sydney.
    Riding my Giant Trance 2, 2019 fitted with Maxxis Ardent 2.25 tyres. New SLX brakes and XT rotors, and pulling a Pack 'n Pedal rack and bag from Thule.
    This was a fun, deeply satisfying trip. It had moments of pain, and hours of pleasure.
    Thanks for watching

    Just "found" this vid, great watch. I bikepack Dungog to Gloucester regional areas constantly when I'm not in the outback.
    Keep on keeping on mate 🦘☮️

    I just saw this thumbnail and thought. "Oh - THAT looks interesting" and then I noticed it was from my old buddy! Cheers, 'Colesey'!

    This is the GPX file that I followed. Please note, it has been edited to avoid the farm detour! drive.google.com/file/d/1N1GzTmghy3RoYSEhWfWGCvpHVUO-76zD/view?usp=sharing

    Hey Mike have u thought about a cygnet solar charger. Only slightly bigger, n heavier than you boost charger!!

      @mike-coles  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No I hadn’t thought about that, mostly because I generally take shortish trips and what I have works fine for me. If I needed to recharge (longer trips) I’d definitely consider one.

      I had one, they're great, but I left it behind a window to charge, n forgot about it... not so great after that!😂

    Hi again Mike, just trying to work out on map your route, not clear how you get across from Black Camp Creek Rd, do you have a map you can share please?

    • @mike-coles
      @mike-coles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can share a GPX and image map. But I’ll revise the map to show my altered route, due to the dead end..

      @@mike-coles thanks Mike that great. I just had a quick look and it makes sense. Any reason you decided to go down Buckets Way rather than Booral-Washpool Rd? The latter seems a much quieter route?

      No, there was nothing clever in that choice. I was pretty tired by that point and didn’t give it much thought. If I was doing that part again, I’d take the Booral Washpool Road.
