Alex Van Halen did this as a multitrack. He was asked in an interview what his hardest song to play was, and he said this song because he can't recreate what he did in the studio

The ppl who dont like him are jealous. El Estepario is the best. He leaves the flow of the song alone, just adds things at appropriate times. Hes a master.

What gets me the most I think, is that he's just so on point. He could make a living just on his money shots alone, they're so precise. Even his rim taps are consistent to the point that if I didn't know better I'd swear were from a drum machine -- guess they are, since he IS a machine. The limb independence as well...!

Man, I'm so glad I'm not a percussionist.
Many don't like the word "GENIUS", well I'm sorry for many, but this guy is a "GENIUS".
I have been studying music since I was 7 years old, and never in my student or work life have I seen anyone play like that, I have seen exceptional percussionists, I have seen incredible ones but this man is a "DEMON" playing the drums, literally.
The great violinist Nathan Milstein once said, "Either you can play it, or you can't play it," as simple as that.
El Estepario is an ABSOLUTE GENIUS, and in his immense modesty he encourages us that it is possible, but it is a lie.
Understand that for that genius it is normal, and what we see seems impossible to us, for him it is normal.
We are facing a phenomenon of nature, a Failure in the Matrix.
For me he is the best in the world.
But that is my modest opinion.

I go to a reaction video to hear YOUR reaction and comments. If someone wants to listen to the song straight through then the video is out there. So I enjoy your commentary and enthusiastic enjoyment. This is a great version of Hot for Teacher and as good or better than the original to me. Last point. Lots of folks want him to join a band and he has in the past, but why? He has an immense, worldwide audience and the freedom to pursue his creative urges as his own boss in his own home. In a full time band, he'd have to do exhausting tours and be constrained to holding down the beat and regurgitating the same content night after night. I think it's cool that he has the courage to pursue his own vision and inspire others along the way. Kudos!!!

I remember reading somewhere that the intro is from Eddie’s lambo. Just did a quick search and found this:
According to producer Ted Templeman, the first five seconds of Alex’s drums are not drums but the exhaust of Ed’s Lamborghini. He said engineer Donn Landee found a way, after much tinkering, to match the drums to the sound of the idling engine. With space being an issue at 5150, Alex used an electronic Simmons drum kit to cut out any bleed-over.

The very, very intro is in fact a Harley shovelhead motor - hence the irregular pattern. It's not until everything is combined that it flows into the smooth rumble of the Miura's Jota V12 (an inherently balanced, and therefore VERY smooth engine).

@@timcummings6581 it’s a multitrack of FOUR different bass drums mixed together to sound just like the exhaust of the Harley exhaust. It could very well be that Alex used a bass drum sample for the four bass drums because he was a Simmons guy back when Simmons were the hexagonal pad kings

The intro to "Hot for Teacher" is one of the most recognizable drum intros in rock music. It features a rapid, double bass drumming pattern played by Alex Van Halen. The sound is reminiscent of a revving motorcycle engine, and it's a showcase of Alex's technical prowess on the drums.

Another great reaction Jeff and yeah, had the same thoughts about Eddie. I don't think there's a rock guitarist playing today that doesn't owe something to him and Hendrix.
