      In the comic you are never 100% sure is Marc a super hero, or a guy dressing up acting and pretending to be one, or sitting in a clinic, imagining it all. I do think Marc has been in a Hospital receiving treatment, but not in these 6 episodes. All the clinic scenes, with Harrow as the Dr, sharp objects on tables, people he knows as patients, nurses, valuable Egyptian ornaments, these are in Marc’s head, him like us trying to make sense of it all. The last Clinic scene though, where Harrow is a patient, I think that is real. At least that all makes sense in the MCU, to me lol, I hope that helps. It wouldn’t surprise me if Marc has many identities/alters, always keeping the whole truth just out of reach for Marc & us

      So the mental hospital in the end credits is real but the other times the mental hospital in the show represents The place in his mind that many (but not all) people with D.I.D. have that allow thier different personalities to share information with each that can be very different from case to case sometimes people with D.ID. personalities will meet and talk with each other

      It’s great that u are going to watch MCU in release order. I was worried when u said before that u were going to watch it in timeline order because the mid/post credit scenes spoils future storylines & can be really confusing .

    "Jake takes over when he's really needed." Kind of makes you wonder who stayed in the room during the beatings. Steven knew nothing of them, and was created so the system could have a loving relationship with a mother. Marc knew the reality of the relationship, but who really took the beatings?

    Jake has been with us from the beginning every rough cuts it was Jake Lockley all along that was taking over it was neither Marc nor Steven, Steven and Marc always asks permission to take over the body unlike Jake comes out when the body felt threatened.
    Episode 1- Jake asked that chick out, that wouldn't be Marc asking someone out if he's married and obviously inlove with Layla, then Jake was the one who killed those people in that village
    Episode 2- the one in the end drinking where we see Steven in the Mirror with a bloody hand, you can spot Jake's gloves on the table beside the bed where Jake was drinking
    In episode 3 the one took over on that rooftop and killed those thugs in the end on the top of that cliff
    In episode 4 that red sarcophagus
    In episode 5 many says that was Jake with a bandage in the beginning talking to Dr. Harrow bc Jake has a different accent
    And Finally in the finale episode Jake took over and defeated Harrow's ass like a piece of cake and made a total destruction all over the place, then finally ended Harrow in that end credit scene ❤️
    Thank you for reacting to this❤️ glad you enjoyed the show too😍 this was also my favorite MCU series along with Hawkeye and Loki

      Also that one moment in episode 3 when he wanted to go to the airport in a taxi. That had to be Jake too because of the newsboy cap which he uses to wear in the comics and the taxi being a reference to Jake being a taxi driver

    A detail a lot of people overlook in episode 5 is that Taweret agreed to try to get them to the gates of Osiris before it was too late so that they could bargain to come back. They were literally almost to the gates when it was too late and the unbalanced Souls started trying to drag them into the sands. When Marc came back for Steven, that seemed to make an impression on Osiris so he open the gates for them to come back.

    As Tawaret told Mark and Steven in Episode 5, the psychiatric hospital was their mental construct to understand the Egyptian afterlife they found themselves in. It was the place containing all of their memories s they traveled to the field of reeds on the boat in that afterlife, but the form it took was essentially determined by their imagination.
    (The hospital where Jake found Arthur later was a real one in the real world, and it looked different if you didn’t notice that already.)
    Since the afterlife psychiatric hospital was really just a mental construct, Mark and Steven were able to visit it again to say goodbye to it after they came back to life, because it’s essentially just all in their head.
    Great reaction, looking forward to catching up on the rest of yours!

    I really liked your reaction. Looking forward to Iron Man. (Seeing this show first doesn't spoil anything about the rest of the MCU.)
    My two cents (for what it's worth):
    1) The afterlife (the ship and the Duat and so on) were real. The psych ward was in Marc's head. "Dr. Harrow" had nothing to do with the real Harrow. "Dr. Harrow" reflected Marc's realization that, as he lost control of his relationship with Steven (after their mother died), he needed professional help. His seeing his mental image of a psychiatrist as his worst enemy reflected his reluctance to seek the help he knew he needed. (Harrow, on the other hand, was in a real hospital.)
    2) If you go back and watch the season again, there's evidence of a third alter all the way through.

  • @cartmanscomplex

    The ending got me. From the boat to the psych hospital to the memories. My mind was spinning. Had to have some :Sweet Leaf" just to even out!!! Solid reaction, love your channel. Peace to You!!

  • @AllieKitaguchi
    @AllieKitaguchi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    There's a bunch of hints to Jake throughout the season, dating all the way back to the first episode. Twice in the pilot, Steven looks in the mirror and there's three reflections instead of two, which is symbolic of the three alters--Marc, Jake, and Steven. You nailed it with the scene in the third episode (see how things run in threes?) where Steven and Marc both lose control of the body and can't remember what happened. Then of course with the fight against Harrow in this one. (Plus, since we know Marc is married to Layla, why would he ask out Steven's coworker? It's possible that was Jake, too!)
    As for the psych ward, in Dissociative Identity Disorder, there's something called the Inner World, which is a place within the brain where the alters can interact or retreat when they're asleep or not in conscious control of the body. The psych ward with Harrow as the therapist is the representation of the Inner World. That version of Harrow is a figment of the imagination, one used to bring the alters together.
    In the fifth episode, Steven and Marc still can't come to complete terms with each other because there's so much left unsaid between them (mainly about Marc's backstory and Steven's conception), so this imaginary Harrow forces them to come to terms with it. At the end of this episode, with them waking up in bed with the two goldfish in the tank, it's them fully coming together and becoming "co-conscious", which means they're both inhabiting the body at the same time. (Also, the two goldfish are representations of them--when the show began, there was only Gus in the tank, which symbolized the way Steven was trapped in the body when Marc fronted, but now since we know that Jake is involved, both Marc and Steven are trapped under Khonshu, hence the two fish.)

The things I like most: You referring to the main character as we and being first person with it; Your excellent vocabulary; Your nice sense of style and not overdone make-up; Hearing all your thoughts as you are having them; and, of course, you are cute as can be without trying to be so while also being ruthless in you calls to violence. Good job all around.

    Why do you think, Marc did not open the third sarcophagus in the "psychiatric ward", after he was killed? Because his subconsciousness knew very well what - or better who - was hidden in there. Marc's consciousness on the other hand never was aware there was another one in him besides Steven. Jake... a ruthless killer.

  • @LazySod
    @LazySod ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know I'm very late to this, but just want to point out it's been hinted from the very start that Jake was there. When steven first was in Switzerland Khonshu said "you're not meant to be here, surrender the body to Marc" Then he realised it was steven, and was saying "Oh the idiot is in control" Since he thought Jake had temporarily taken over. The third sarcophagus and any time they had a seizure it was Jake forcefully taking control as the shifts between Steven and Marc were pretty smooth and they didn't have the ability to take control, they had to be given control by one another.

    Some more comments:
    1) The psychiatric hospital is a "liminal zone," a space between the world of the living and the world of the dead. It's not real, rather it's a reflection of Marc's internal state. The hospital at the end, that Jake takes Harrow out of, is real.
    2) In the comic book, Marc has two alternate personalities: Steven Grant and Jack Locksley. There the characters are quite different. Marc is the hardboiled mercenary; cold, ruthless, violent. Steven is his "rich playboy" cover identity, the suave, sophisticated and incredibly rich guy who goes to fancy parties and always wears suits. Then Jake is his "blue collar" identity, a street-smart cabbie. Marc created these identities in order to aid him in fighting crime -- Steven and Jake are fake identities he intentionally created to give him access to places Marc can't go. But the strain of maintaining three separate identities, fighting crime, and dealing with Egyptian mysticism broke his mind and he "forgot" that he created these alternate identities and they aren't real, and he kind of forgot who he really is. So obviously the show took that idea and went somewhere else with it, adding all the stuff with his mom and brother.

    • @Wright805
      @Wright805 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct. In the comics Marc's mother passed away while he was very young and his brother became the serial killer Hatchet Man.

  • @ellisndream2682
    @ellisndream2682 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The psychiatrist hospital is like a representation of going through past memories before you are completely dead. I think if even you aren’t technically alive, there are brain activities going on, as that brain activity ends, that means that you are completely dead and gone. That’s my interpretation of the psych ward anyways. (I’ll come back to edit a few things)

  • @JonPaulMaki

    Originally in the comics, they weren't actually different personalities, just different identities that Marc used. Even when he was being Steven - who in the comics was a billionaire, thanks to Marc investing the money he'd earned as a mercenary - mentally, he was still Marc. The Jake identity worked as a cab driver and was a way for Marc to go undercover to get the word on the street about criminal activities. Steven was the main identity that Marc lived under, and he let the world believe that Marc Spector was dead. Later, they changed things to introduce the DID element.

    A great show, loved it, one of my favourites. It walks a thin line between showing DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) & I guess possession by Khonshu. There is a massive amount of detail hidden within all the Marvel shows, not exactly the same as the comics, but in the spirit of the comics. Two details I love from this show, who asked the lady for the date, married Marc, doesn’t seem write, surprised Steve, definitely not him? Also in episode 5, when with the Dr, the identity that was sedated didn’t appear to be Marc, Steve, or Jake, so how many identities?

    So I really enjoyed the show, but the climax was really...meh. It really feels like the writers of the show really wanted to get to Episode 5, which is brilliant, and then were like "Oh, right, we have to end this story. Um....they turn into giants and fight? Sure. That works." After so much interesting psychological stuff, to just have it all resolve in a CGI punch-out is underwhelming. But that's a frequent issue with stuff adapted from comics.
    In your intro you said you love movies and television that make you think, which is why I'm going to once again recommend David Lynch's "Blue Velvet" (1986). It's all about asking what's going on and how dangerous the need to understand what's happening can be.

    Your Marvel journey. I don’t want to ‘spoil’ anything, but you can consider everything up to the end of phase 3 (Spider-Man Far from Home) as one, but after that MCU movie they were going to have a break before they launched phase 4 which includes the shows. It wouldn’t hurt to have a break there, but stay relevant. You could check out the Fox Marvel content (X-men & Fantastic Four) &/or the Netflix Marvel content (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Punisher, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Defenders), they all add to the greater Marvel story.

      Outside of Marvel, there are some great DC (their main comic rival) shows/movies, but they are less interconnected. Also a number of independent (smaller comic companies) shows, The Boys & Invincible (animation) are very strong, but more adult in content, love your reactions :-)
