      @@Antonio-uc7vn it’s different. This Buddhist doctrine is more about how nothing has a unique inherent nature, but rather everything is interconnected and can’t be parsed from anything else, and is transitory.
      In some forms of Hinduism, it’s more that everything has a nature that’s identical to a universal nature

I was fortunate to have had a great relationship with my father, but what about those who suffered abuse from their father? How could they reconcile this teaching?
    Is this a matter of understanding at the relative versus absolute?

    When I do psychedelics (mushrooms, lsd) I feel empty of a separate self. It makes me feel nihilistic like nothing matters. It’s an uncomfortable feeling. The emptiness is all consuming and it’s hard to find a silver lining in that state. I tend to isolate and be still. Is it worth it though? To get to this state? Should I just continue to be gleefully lost in the separate self?

    It's true that emptyness is not nothingness. Nothingness not existing is a direct result of there being something. As such, nothingness is as it should be. Non existent.

    I've experienced some kind of voidness without any substance... it lasted 3 whole days... it was not pleasant... I've experienced the illusion of everything around me... I had no wants, no desires, not even an opinion or judgement because there was nothing around me, no friends, no parents, no self, no identity, no nothing. only emptyness. I lived my whole life based on intensity and strong emotions... it's all a lie.. who am I without all these emotions? it's all ego driven.. even our purpose in life

      I think you misunderstood, they didnt say you dont have an ego or dont need an ego or self. You do have a self, you do exist and have emotions. They just said dont get too attached to it as life is ever changing and impermanent. You are not a separate being from this world. The world, your body, your mind made who you are and is you. What they mean is thinking you are empty of anything special that separates you from everything.
      What you experienced was apathy, demotivation. Not the peace and tranquility nor the joy and pleasantness of life. This can only be achieved if you see everything, including yourself as what it truly is. And match reality toe to toe, be as dynamic and adaptive as nature itself. This is when you truly understand the world and yourself, and your place within this world. I hope this clears up some misunderstandings.

    • @Lteyseytey
      @Lteyseytey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean no offense to you at all and I hope my message is conveyed to you in a positive manner. What you experienced for 3 whole days was definitely not void since you mentioned that it wasn't pleasant. From my limited knowledge and understanding of zen one thing I have realized is that the mindful practices are meant to allign ourselves with our true selves. It is also important to recognize that the practices are meant to ground us to our reality in the present and the concept of whether reality is an illusion, is not for us to contemplate on. Let's keep practicing mindful walking and breathing so we can be immune to whatever life throws at us!

      English Sub: Emptiness, Śūnyatā,
      The teaching on emptiness is there [Śūnyatā]; but in the Theravada Buddhism, it has not been explored largely than in the Mayana School of Buddhism.
      Emptiness does not mean nothingness. When you look at this flower, you will see the flower is full of everything: the sunshine, the cloud, the soil, time and space, the gardener… everything including your own consciousness.
      So, we practically see the flower is full of the cosmos like the piece of bread that you are holding in your hand ready for you to eat.
      Why should we describe it as empty? The Bodhisattva Avalokite while looking deeply into the Five Scandhas finds them equally empty.
      Empty of what? Mr. Bodhisattva tells us. We see everything is full of the cosmos and you say that they are empty. And he’ll tell you: you’re right. The flower is full of the cosmos; the flower is only empty of one thing - that is separate existence, separate being, self-nature, empty of a self-nature. /***/
      Because the flower cannot be by herself alone, the flower has to be inter-be with the whole cosmos. If you remove the non-flower elements from her, she’ll vanish. She cannot be, she cannot inter-be. Therefore, she’s full of everything but she’s empty of a separate existence. The same thing is true with person. If you remove father, mother, and other elements, like: minerals, vegetables, animals. There is no man left. Man is made only of non-man elements. So, man is there, not as separate existence, separate self but as the manifestation made it possible, made possible, because the whole cosmos has come together and helps him or her to manifest as a wonder of life. So
      the first thing we’ve learnt that is emptiness is not nothingness; it’s not non-being.
      This glass is empty, but empty of what? Empty of tea but she’s full of air. So empty is always empty of something. Another for the glass to be empty or to be full, the glass has to be there. So emptiness is not something negative; it is the wisdom.
      When we look into the son, or the daughter, we see the father; we see the mother; we see the ancestors. If we remove father from son and daughter, son and daughter cannot continue; if we remove mother and ancestors, they cannot continue.
      So son and father have no separate existence. Son is empty of son and father is empty of father. Father and son they are inter-are. If there is no father there is no son; if there is no son, there is no father.
      So father and son manifest at the same time like the left and the right - inter-being. Those who were so angry with their fathers and said: “I don’t want to have anything to do with that person.” [It’s] nonsense because you cannot take your father out of you. You are the continuation of your father; you are your father. You are empty of a separate self. You are made of a non-you elements only. And in the non-you elements, there is the element father in it.
      So if you mediate on emptiness, you’ll see the interconnection, the inter-being between you and father and you can liberate yourself from anger because you are your father. You carry your father everywhere you go; you carry all the ancestors everywhere with you. You are not each person, itself; you are in lineage and when you see like that you’ll see you are full of the cosmos, but you are empty of the separate self. And this is the advanced deep teaching; it’s a kind of power to embrace you. It removes all kinds of discrimination and make you free.

      Vienamese Sub:
      Trống rỗng - Tánh Không
      Giáo lý về tính Không được dạy ở đó (Bát Nhã Ba la mật đa Tâm Kinh), nhưng trong Phật giáo Tiểu thừa, người ta không phổ biến về giáo lý này nhiều như Phật giáo Đại thừa.
      Tính Không không có nghĩa là không có gì. Khi bạn nhìn vào đóa hoa này, bạn sẽ thấy đóa hoa ấy có đầy đủ các yếu tố: ánh mặt trời, cụm mây, đất, thời gian và không gian, người làm vườn … mọi thứ gói ghém vào trong nhận thức của bạn.
      Vì thế chúng ta thực tập nhìn đóa hoa là toàn bộ vũ trụ cũng giống như nhìn một mẩu bánh mì trên tay [cũng là cả vũ trụ] vậy.
      Nhưng tại sao ta lại nói nó là Trống rỗng [tính Không]? Bồ tát Quán Tự Tại trong khi thực hành thiền quá vào Năm uẩn (Sắc, Thọ, Tưởng, Hành, Thức) thì thấy chúng đều Trống rỗng (Không).
      Trống rỗng cái gì mà sao Ông Bồ tát lại bảo chúng ta như thế? Chúng ta thấy mọi thứ là cả vũ trụ này và Ổng lại nói tất cả là Trống rỗng. Và Ngài sẽ nói với bạn là: “Bạn đúng đó. Đóa hoa thì có cả vũ trụ trong đó, nhưng nó chỉ Trống rỗng một thứ - đó là sự tự mình phát sinh, một cái ngã riêng biệt.
      Bởi vì đóa hoa không thể nào tự mình nó mà biểu hiện được nên nó phải tương tức với lại toàn thể vũ trụ này. Nếu như bạn lấy đi yếu tố không phải hoa từ đóa hoa thì đóa hoa ấy sẽ biến mất. Nó không thể có dó, nó không thể tương tức. Chính vì thế nó là tất cả mọi thứ nhưng lại không có một sự phát sinh riêng biệt nào cả (tự ngã). Điều này cũng đúng với con người mình thôi. Nếu bạn lấy đi yếu tố người cha, người mẹ, và những yếu tố khác như khoáng chất, rau cải, động vậy ra, thì không còn ai trên đời nữa đâu. Con người được hình thành từ những yếu tố không phải con người. Vì thế con người có mặt không phải là do tự phát sinh, tự ngã nhưng bởi vì sự biểu hiện làm xuất hiện, bởi vì toàn vũ trụ đã cộng hưởng và làm cho anh, cho chị có mặt như một kì quan. Vậy, chúng ta đã học bài học đầu tiên: Trống rỗng (Không) không phải là mất tất cả; không phải là không có gì.
      Cái ly này thì trống rỗng, nhưng trống rỗng cái gì? Nó trống rỗng trà ở trong nhưng nó có đầy không khí. Vậy thì trống rỗng là trống cái gì mà thôi. Những cái ly khác có thể trống hoặc không trống nhưng sự thật là phải có cái ly (mới có những khái niệm như thế). Vậy thì, trống rỗng (Không) không phải là cái gì ghê gớm cả; đấy là trí tuệ!
      Khi chúng ta nhìn vào đứa con trai, con gái, chúng ta thấy được cha mẹ chúng, thấy được tổ tiên. Nếu ta lấy người cha ra khỏi người con trai và con gái thì con trai, con gái chẳng có thể tiếp tục (biểu hiện) được. Nếu ta lấy người mẹ hay tổ tiên thì con trai, con gái cũng vậy mà thôi.
      Vậy con trai và cha không thể tách rời nhau. Con trai thì trống cái yếu tố ‘tự-con trai’, và cha thì trống cái yếu tố ‘tự-cha’. Cha và con là tương tức. Nếu không có cha thì không có con; không có con thì không có cha.
      Vậy cha và con tương tức cùng lúc giống như bên trái bên phải vậy - tương tức. Những ai đã giận và nói: ‘Tôi chẳng có cái gì để mà nói với ổng cả.’ Điều đó vô nghĩa bởi vì bạn không thể lấy người cha ra khỏi bạn được. bạn là sự tiếp nối của cha mình, bạn là cha của bạn. Bạn trống cái tự-bạn. Bạn được làm từ những yếu tố không-phải-tự-bạn. Và trong những yếu tố không-phải-tự-bạn đó, có yếu tố của người cha vậy!
      Nếu bạn thiền định về tính trống rỗng (tính Không), bạn sẽ thấy sự nối kết tương tức, sự tương nhập giữa mình và cha mình và bạn có thể giải thoát mình khỏi giận hờn vì bởi bạn là cha mình mà. Bạn đem theo cha mình đi mọi nẻo, bạn đem theo tổ tiên mình khắp mọi phương. Bạn không là một người hoàn toàn tách biệt, bạn đang trong dòng huyết thống và khi bạn nhìn với con mắt như thế, thì bạn sẽ thấy mình là toàn bộ vũ trụ nhưng lại trống cái yếu tố tự-bạn. Đây là một bài học rất sâu sắc và tuyệt diệu; đây là một năng lượng bảo hộ cho bạn. Nó sẽ lấy đi tất cả những kì thị, phân biệt, định kiến và bạn sẽ được thảnh thơi…

    A good explanation of the Buddhist concept of sunyata but a short video cannot explain more deeply. Buddhism talks of cause and effect. All effects are due to causes. And all effects themselves in turn become causes. If so, then everything is pre-determined or pre-destined. It also means we do not have free will - our decisions or actions are therefore the results of earlier causes. Just as we have no choice in our birth, then we too have no choice in what we choose to act. There is a danger of misunderstanding Buddhism.

    • @unseen3277
      @unseen3277 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How we don't have choice in what we choose to act? Cause and effect are a universal law. We create suffering because of ignorance craving and aversion. We don't have a choice in our birth because we live in a state of sleep. That's why in Buddhism is he sciences of awakening your consciousness. A Tibetan master once said: if you want to know what happens when you die, pay attention to what happens when you sleep." U see, we have the choice to liberate ourselves but that is not easy, it can take a lifetime or many depending on ones karma.. if deep within your being u are so tired of suffering you have the will to do end it. Some people give up sleeping around, smoking, drinking watching TV and dedicate themselves completely EVERYDAY all day in the work of awakening of their consciousness because they understood in the core of their being, that longing for liberation.

    • @unseen3277
      @unseen3277 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The ego has many levels, we may have a karma that we don't even know about but that is our own creation. But we can create the Buddha soul through the same law.

      The danger here is that this gives people the path to say “well fuck it.” “The world is destined to crash and burn, so let it.” You can’t actively choose another path, or be aware of another path if predestination is a thing. You go with your first conditioned response and in doing so, are free. We see this often in psychopaths who are happy as ever to work off of raw impulse, and they do not suffer. If they come back, they get to continue doing whatever they’d like, anyway, and so on and so forth. There is nothing controlling them, there is nothing asking them to change. What is there to free if no self? Just a bunch of causes and effects destined to do their thing, no balancing forces.
      Big problem with these teachings, as you’ve stated them.

    The Heart Sutra reduces everything to the 'Reality of Emptiness.' Nothing wrong with that and the idea of 'All Pervading Beauty.' The problem for us as human beings, is that we know and experience the empirical world as subjects in relation to objects. However erroneous this may be, as long as we experience in this way, it is the 'only reality we will ever know' and as such will determine how we live for good or ill in this world. We may come to know 'The Truth' of The Heart Sutra but I wouldn't bet on it.

      No parent is perfect-they do good things but also make mistakes-just like us ourselves. If one can remember some of the good things one’s parents did, that can be enough to feel gratitude. And their mistakes can be an example that teaches one how to be better and kinder. In that way one can recognize the presence of one’s parents in oneself in a positive way. Rejecting one’s parents entirely would be to reject an important part of oneself.

    But What is nothingness in buddhism? Is it the no self?

    • @ilikestarsun
      @ilikestarsun 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      A "thing" does not exist, because nothing can exist alone, everything exists in relation to everything else. Therefore it is not possible for anything to exist independently from everything else which means there are no independent "things" in this universe. It is just the universe manefesting in different forms but the forms are not separate and have no existence on it's own.
      The Void or emptiness, isn't that there's nothing there, it's that there's EVERYTHING there because there's no such thing as a "thing". There is no separate thing, hence every "thing" is actually everything because it is connected to everything and cannot be seperated

    Still the mind & know I am allah !
    I am formless , body is my form !
    Form has formless , formless has form.
    Sun is Buddha.
    Buddha is not Sun.
    Buddha is beyond the sun.
    In the stillness of mind we experience emptiness. Without experience of emptiness the philosophy become dictation.
    Truth is one , wise experience & knows it by many names , calls by many names !

    This is no explanation of emptiness. "The flower is empty of an independent entity!!! What a nonsense.

      Yes, and does not exist apart from the parts, components and processes, which make it up, as well as from the environment, in which it exists.

    things are not empty of self but empty of seperate existence . to have no essence or self means nihilism. the fire is not air and its not a spark. ut has its own nature. it does exist by it self but its fire all a long

Emptiness is for relinquishing of all views..... And you are having a view that self exist.... It is not teachings Of Nagarjuna.... The propounder of Shunyavad ( Emptiness )...... @@Paramasaugata I dont think you are a nihilist because you dont exist so what's the problem friend?! If nothing have essence then there are no things at all. And yet there are things . I think that the claim there is no self is misunderstood by every one. Just like when they say 'emptiness of emptiness' . There no such thing cause nothing exist outside of emptiness and that is why emptiness of emptiness that not exist. It implies that emptiness need something to know it self or to have a meaning but nothing exist outside of emptiness so how come there is the emptiness of emptiness? Because everything is emptiness it means that emptiness know it self through itself. Emptiness of emptiness means endless regration . Cause now we need also 'the emptiness of emptiness of emptiness... and so on.
