The blue one looks a much nicer example. I totally agree with your decision Phil, the white one is a totally unknown quantity, only the people who carried out the ‘repairs’, actually know the true condition of this car. It could potentially be very dangerous, so it’s best to keep it off the road❤.
These engines aren’t known for their reliability, and they clatter like a diesel , I had a 2012 328i , it was a stunning high spec car that I didn’t have for very long and wasn’t very old or have many miles I think 3yrs old and 30k , it started to smoke and chain clatter , I took it back to bmw , and eventually they decided to buy it back , they told me the engine was knackered combination of the timing chain and oil pump chain tensioner failure and subsequent turbo failure , when the engine was running right it was powerful and that zf 8 speed was brilliant
It must have broken the Blue car’s owners heart when water wrecked engine ☹️, such beautiful condition inside and out , sad really but new engine means it will live again as long as all works out ok 👌🏻 and Phil is up for the challenge 😉.
Great watch, working detail, easy honest listening, looking forward to next faze. Re working damage; you might want to consider wing / slam panel/bumper protective covers.
That blue BMW 220i was supplied and registered in Edinburgh. Shame that the engine is toast. The white one comes from London. Good idea to salvage the engine and swap them out.
I have changed engines and rebuilt different projects through my life changed an 1800 focus standard into an ST 170 engine gearbox wiring loom as lot of people. Don’t realise how long it takes to change an engine. It looks very quick when you put it on camera, but it is a lot of work, you do very well
my mate has a garage and services a 420d m but it doesnt have the said m brakes or caliper and its going through discs ans pads like nobodys business. when he first ordered pads and discs by reg number they sent him m sport ones which were wrong
I think you have made the best of the situation and when you are not happy putting your name to something then trust your gut instinct!! The parts that are left in the car should cover and hopefully make a profit to get out of the situation which is always a learning experience every car you do!! Stay safe and see you on the next one soon
I’ve just rebuilt one of these engines a mine had dropped a piston. Will you be selling the bottom crank pulley from the old engine at all please? I seem to have mislaid mine during the strip/rebuild process.
You could of done the job properly & took the front bumper cover off, & rad pack. Then you could of pulled it straight forward with no extra damage. Very few people in this game do the job right!
The wind noise around the garage building would drive me nuts. Great video though, thank you Phil!
Best thing you could have done. That blue car is mint. Crazy destruction of that engine! It looks like it's detonated 😂
Bet that white one is a Bradford/brum specialist repair with resistors instead of seat air bags
Like the block of wood holding the bonnet
The blue one looks a much nicer example.

Brilliant video, fingers 🤞 you get this engine swapped with no more issues

Great video Phil. Totaly the right thing to do, the Estoril blue car looks a nice car and I am sure very saleable once you get it sorted.

really great content ,I love and respect your honesty.Profit is a factor obviously but your ethics are the best good luck with both cars mate
It makes sense you doing what your doing, and you get money back on the white one
It's always nice to see something different 👍👍👍

I bet you're smarting over that white one , but as it says we are never too old to learn . But you are so possessive .... well done
Coming along nicely Phil well done

The blue BMW belonged to my mum! She bought it back in 2016 and kept it until 2019 then she bought an M2

You’ll need the engine cu exchanged
Don't you love it when a plan comes togethert!!
I'm back lol at 19:40 continue 😀
It might just be me, but I thought on beamers you took the engine out with the subframe, dropping it out of the bottom?
Do a car vertical on it
Take the bumper off Phil, there aren't to many fixings on it, if I take isn't in the way you can't damage it.

Safe good lad
If engine was flooded did you also change the transmission fluid as it may be contaminated with water too?
There's a breather on top on the auto box, other wise there a sealed unit, fortunately water didn't get high enough to get in 👍
Hi, Can you invest in some proper lighting. So simple and will make your life easy and enhance it for the viewers as well
