    I literally just ordered all the stuff from Barlow's to make my own jigs and chatterbaits, and the only reason I did was because of your video man , you did a great job of explaining it from start to finish, and you didn't try and rush all the info into a 3 minute video, I appreciate you bro.

    Have two questions.one is when I open up hook eye I had to rework where eye fits in mold,leaving spue to be trimmed-any suggestions.Also how much of a bend do you put on th blades.

    • @ThatGuySkimpy
      @ThatGuySkimpy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Different hooks have different thickness In The eyes. Yes when ever you do any mods theres always the chance of having the flashing and have to cut and clean the jig up. As far as the bend, I actually bought them bent like that. Either know ebay or barlows tackle

  • @mrgungho
    @mrgungho 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know this is an older method compared to the way I've seen you do it lately....but do you like this way with punching the hook eye better or not at all? Seems like it allows you to make almost any mold a chatter mold.

    • @ThatGuySkimpy
      @ThatGuySkimpy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the reason I started using the wire form is because doing this way you waste alot of hooks. They all don't just open. Some will just break off the hook eye. Heated the hook does help with it though

  • @roykinnaiii8690
    @roykinnaiii8690 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's easier if you scrap the extra powder paint off the hook eye before you bake it in the oven. I use a utility knife blade to clean off excess before curing.

      @ThatGuySkimpy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I've learned that lol. Thanks

    • @roykinnaiii8690
      @roykinnaiii8690 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Something else you might consider doing is holding the eye of the hook with the hemostats when you are powder coating and don't hold the hemostats directly in the heat from your heat gun. The lead portion of the head will conduct heat and the hemostats will help prevent the powder from getting in the hook eye.

      Williamesch your using the same kind of hook ? I've tried using other hooks that were a little thicker and busted the eyes, but the eyes on those 30* EWG hooks work about every time

      That Guy Skimpy I believe I'm using the 28 degree hooks that do it molds recommends. Maybe my punch is to small, but it seems when I get right to the size I need is when it breaks. Thanks for the reply!

      Williamesch they might be the 28. I will have to look. Pretty sure both ones work. I believe I got the hooks from fishingskirts

    I have watched and commented on many of your videos that is why I keep my subscription to your channel, you have always had outstanding videos and good breakdowns on how to information. With that being said I would like to invite you over to my channel to be one of the first to see the "Simon clinch knot" for braid. This is definitely going to be a knot that will be put in the journals and give you 100% confidence to use on braided line. The video is a little long but well explained and detailed for you to gain confidence. Thank you so much for watching and if you like it please share and tell other people about it. Sincerely Aaron J Perelli.
