Best tutorial on TH-cam for this pattern. If I had never made a bag before I would be able to do this from your direction.😊
Wow, thank you!
I second this!!
My sister-in-law and I have this shirt - we LOVE it! Almost as much as we love MSQC, Jenny, Natalie, and Misty. … and now you; Becca! :) How fun! ❤
Your hair is cute! Thanks for sharing your God given talents with us. Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you so much!
Oh yes, I plan on making this bag.
Yay!!!
Great tutorial Becca. Your instructions are fabulous. The bag with the batting looks a bit puffier. I've always used foam when making bags but it boils down to preference.
Thank you!!!
Great tutorial. I guessed right. The bag with does look different than the one with batting.
It does!
🎉great tutorial! Gotta give this a try!
You should!
Your instructions are awesome, very detailed and explanatory. You could easily become an instructor. ❤❤❤ Thank you for sharing your tutorial 😊
Wow, thank you!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you for your very detailed and thorough directions!
Can you please do a tutorial on Center Street Quilts Fleetwood Tote Bag? I would love to have guidance on that pattern. Thank you for the Holland Pouch tutorial.
Hello Becca, Yes I can see the difference in the batting one and the Foam one. The lines are more straight on clean cut on the foam. There you have my opinion and yes I plan on making one with foam. Thanks so much for your videos! You keep me motivated! From Alabama :)
I prefer the foam, too! 🙃🙃
Thank you for a great tutorial ! You make it very easy 😊
Loved your tutorial! It’s such a great pouch, and you gave such helpful tips that are going to be really useful. I love my large Holland, and yours are both beautiful!❤
Thank you so much!
Great tutorial! I am currently making a few bags using the "foam" interfacing. They look so much better than with batting.
Wonderful!
Becca !!!! You are just spot on , with your tutorial, I think I could take these directions and make any size bag , Thank You so so much .Just like your binding video perfect.
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, Becca! Thanks for the tutorial! As soon as I finish up the two Crosley pouches that I started this weekend, I'll get to work on a couple of Holland pouches tomorrow afternoon. How about doing a tutorial on the Alpen Belt bag???
I’m always open to suggestions! That’s what I’ve been thinking about making for my daughter, so I’ll put it on the list! If there any other patterns, you would like to see me do a tutorial for just let me know
Well, since you're asking, the Fleetwood Tote and the Holland Duffle would be nice! It looks like someone else would like you to do the duffle too! It's nice to make something useful that doesn't take up all the time that a quilt does! Go Center Street Quilts!
Such clear and precise instructions. I am so new to sewing, that after watching you, I have confidence I can do this. I have a question: Did you use your regular sewing machine to do the quilting lines? Thank you so much, Robin Lee Wilson
I sure did! Just marked them and quilted with my regular foot!
How big is the batting? How big of a bag does it make?
I can definitely tell which one has the foam. I like the added definition. Great video!! Thanks.
Me, too!
I keep watching this. So I bought the pattern
It's not difficult to make - can't wait to see what yours looks like when it's done!
Awesome Tutorial Becca! You made it look easy ,So ibought the pattern knowing I can come back and watch this if I get stuck! Thank you!
Wonderful!
Another great bag and I will for sure be making this..Thank you Becca..you Rock!!
You are so welcome!
I have this in my etsy cart lol I can tell the difference between batting and foam. Would flex foam work?
Absolutely! I think flex foam is pretty much the same thing as the soft and stable
Looking at your T-shirt I'm wondering are you going to be doing a tutorial with the MSQ girls??
My goodness,, I would LOVE that!!!
I love this bag and your tutorial makes it look like it’s so easy to do. Can’t wait to make these. Thank you. Oh and I love your nails.
You are so welcome! And ty!!!
Great tutorial. Thank you. I like the foam best for pouches.
I just found your You Tube Video's. Thank you so much. My sewing was limited while working. Now retired I am starting to spend my leisure time sewing. I can not thank you enough for your wonderful and informative videos. I watched your sewing room video first. You have a great place to work and help others. You are a fantastic teacher. I love how you link everything needed for a project. Again Thank YOU.
Aww, thank you!!!
When i did it with foam i foumd the sewing became difficult due to the multiple layers eventhough i was using a walking foot. My machine was struggling so much i also lengthen my stitcb as well. Made so many adjustments to this pouch it was unbelievable. I ended up hand sewing the middle section because my sewing machine just cannot hack it. So, i might make some other adjustments the next time i make it and will see how it turns outs.☺️🤷
Love this Becca, am gonna make a smaller one for my clips! Thank you for sharing your expertise!🫶🏽
Thank you for this tutorial.
I've never made a bag but your explanation was so good that I am going to do it. Thanks much. Now to look at your other bag tutorial...
Love the bags! Your tutorial is great, and I can definitely see the difference in the shape. Thank you!
Great tutorial. I would definitely like to make a couple of these bags. I like the foam bag best. Yes you can tell the difference in the two bags.
Im a visual learner & this helped so much! Thankyou!
I totally enjoyed this video. I am making several more bags.
Ive broken 2 needles already trying to sew the sides w/ handles. 😞 i tried hand stitching but it doesnt look good from the outside. What foot are you using on your machine?
I use a vintage 66 machine & am using a “size 14 style 2020”. Is that the wrong needle?
I'm using the standard default foot that comes with my Juki. As for needles, I've done all of these bags with an 80/12 - but a 90/14 or even 100/16 might be better. Maybe try ditching the interfacing in the handles?
Your instructions are very clear and easy to understand. Thanks!
Hi Becca! New subbie here… you make me feel like I could actually do this! I am a novice sewist and future-quilter (🤞🏼). Thank you for the step-by-step, tips, and caveats. Best wishes 😊 ~Kelly
Welcome to the group - and thanks for subscribing! Glad you enjoyed the tutorial!!!
Beautiful tutorial & helpful tips! I did buy the pattern, but truthfully, the zipper installation is holding me back! I have installed many zippers, but never where I had to take it apart first! I have sweaty palms just typing that!!!😂😂😂 But, watch this again, & follow along with you!! TY for explaining everything so well!
Watch how I did it - that little trick has never failed me!!!
Wonderful! I need to watch your Hemingway tutorial next. I’ve had the pattern for a few weeks but have been intimidated to start since I am a visual learner. Bought the Holland last night because although I’ve made simple versions of a boxed pouch, I do love the more professional/polished version if I want to gift it. You did an excellent job showcasing the making of this bag! Thanks 😊
Thank you!!
Thank you Becca for this tutorial. I have made two so far! I just bought The Fleetwood Tote pattern from Center Street Quilts, will you be doing a tutorial on this bag? Please?
I’m sure I can! I’ll add it to the list of video ideas! 💡
Your Valentine nails look very nice. I'm happy that you made this tutorial because I'm going to be making this bag. I saw it somewhere else on TH-cam and I absolutely loved making the Hemingway. They are so much fun, easy, and make awesome gifts. Actually I think this boxy one will be even more practical.
I agree! This one is quite practical!!!
I definitely will get this pattern. Because I have a lot of experience using Soft and Stable, I can spot a bag made with only quilt batting easily.
Excellent tutorial! Thanks, Becca :)
I don’t know if I could spot it on screen, but it’s definitely noticeable in person. I think I prefer soft & stable! Better shape!!
Thanks for a great tutorial on the bag. I bought the pattern then found you. Yes, I could tell just by looking at the bags which one had foam/batting. Also, thanks for the helpful tip with both the type of zipper to use on bags AND how to start the slide. “Zipping a jacket” analogy was very helpful.
Wonderful! I think I’ll be using foam for my future bags!!
You were right about the bulk in those last seams--I switched to the 90/14 needle and stitched slowly and cranked the machine by hand. I also increased the stitch length to 4.0. The two bags came out beautifully. I do prefer the foam batting!
Wonderful!
Good morning Becca, thank you for your video on Holland and Hemmingway pouch. Great tutorials❤. Can you provide zipper links??
Link is in the description box below the video!!
Love sewing with you Beca..I just joined..thank you for having me. HI from Miami Florida
You are so welcome! Thanks for joining!
Thanks for the lesson, Becca! Well done! I've made several of these bags. It's a great size and makes a terrific gift, with or without extra goodies packed inside.
Thank you
Hi - I enjoyed your video on how to do this bag - can I ask where you purchased your fabric? Thanks so much. Will aim to give it a try. Also, do you have a suggestion on the foam batting to purchase too? Thanks again. M
Hi! I believe there were two versions of this bag I showed - one that was made with just quilt batting (which my mom now has) and the other has By Annie's Soft & Stable (which is the foam batting you referenced). As for the fabric, this was a batik print I purchased from the 'Beachy Batiks' line from Moda Fabrics - I believe the print was called 'Coastal'
Love how you explain everything, thank you so much, I’m in Newfoundland Canada
You are so welcome!
Great tutorial Becca!❤
Thank you!! 😊
This really was a wonderful video. Didn’t really care for all the ironing but I zipped through that. Thank you, I am a new watcher.
Glad it was helpful!
Pretty nails. Great tutorial. When i put my zipper pull on. I pull it all the way across and off the other end, then pull the zipper open approximately 2/3 of the wat. Then i put the zipper pull on again closing it about a 3rd of the way. That leaves the zipper open in the middle with both ends closed.
Great tip!
I use washaway tape to attach the zipper it just means it doesn't move and you can get straight to the sewing no clips to take off. Lovely bag, I enjoy your videos thank you Becca
Great tip, thank you!!
Fantastic tutorial. I followed this to make my first ever bag after buying a kit at quilt con. Thank you thank you!!!!
You are so welcome!
D
Good morning, I'd like to make this bag, it will make nice gifts, xthe foam bag kept it's shape better.
I think these are lovely gifts, too! And I agree - foam is better!!
This was a fantastic tutorial!!! I had NO trouble following along. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Well done. You make it look so easy. I’m going to try to make one. Looking at it on the website I can’t tell the difference. Thanks.
You can do it!
Nice tips on the bag making, thank you. You have a nice way of explaining what you’re doing and why. 😀
Thanks so much! 😊
Really enjoyed your tutorial. I have this pattern and have been reluctant to give it a try! I feel confident after your instruction! Thank you!
I promise - it's not as difficult as you'd think! Give it a try!!
I knew which one had the soft and stable as soon as you sat them down. They are awesome bags!!! You are such a great instructor!!! Thank you❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
Thanks very good information
Thank you so much. What a great tutorial! I just bought and downloaded the pattern. I can’t wait to try this.
Have fun!
Thank you! Great bag.❤
I really like your tip Becca to use the same fabric for the lining and the accent. It looks so much more polished.
Yes! Thank you!
I loved the tutorial and even though I’m not really a bag maker, I think you made it look easy enough that I just might have to give this one a try! Thank you!❤
You can do it!
Thanks for the video. I am getting ready to make this bag and it made the instructions clearer.
You’re welcome 😊
Love the tutorial. I have gotten the pattern and fabric. Can you tell me the size of bag you made?
The large!
Enjoying the replay ❤
You did a great job and no I wouldn't have been able to tell them apart just by looking❤
Thank you!!☺️
Excellent video Becca! Love the bag! Thank you.
You are so welcome!
I like the foam batting. It looks more refined. Love the tutorial.
It does!
I'm not sure if I missed the measurements for the handles. Did you state it or list it somewhere?
I didn’t list the measurements since they’re all included in the pattern. :)
Can I add iron on vinyl to the inside to make it more water and spill proof?
i don't see why not - though, a nice laminated cotton for the inside (like what Splash Fabric provides) would probably hold up better.
My last comment on this😂. Do you think in your opinion we could use waterproof canvas for the lining or would that be too much bulk for a domestic machine?
You could use Splash fabric, it's laminated cotton
That’s what I was going to say!!
Thank you for the tutorial. I'm obsessed with yhe bags!!! I think I'm going to have to get this pattern too!!! ❤❤
You should!
And I did!! Bought it today. Now I've got both Hemingway and now Holland!!
Thanks for your extra tips to make this bag.
You are so welcome!
Your tutorials are the best!!! Thank you
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!! 🙏🏻
Thanks for the tutorial but it says the zippers aren't available do you have an alternative?
This is the link to *all* of the zippers from the seller I use: www.etsy.com/shop/modernfabricshoppe?ref=shop_sugg_market§ion_id=34958035
@@sewbecca thank you! I must have hit a wrong button! Have a great day!
Great tutorial! You are an excellent teacher!
Thanks so much!
I love the Soft and Stable! Great video.
Thank you!
Fantastic tutorial - thank you! 💕
You are so welcome!
The bag with the batting "bows" out a bit.
Yeah, I see that too. I think I prefer the one with the foam, but either bag is totally usable.
Hi Becca! What a great project!
Thanks so much! 😊
Excellent tutorial 👏🏻
Glad you think so!
Love your tutorial 😍
Thank you! 😊
Fantastic tutorial!
Thank you! Cheers!
Becca will you be doing the large Holland bag?
Oh, no! I think I forgot to mention which size I’m doing! Yes, it’s the large.
