Building & Expanding NPC's in Dragon of Icespire Peak (DM Guide)

Dragon of Icespire Peak is an adventure for beginner players, but more likely intermediate players for d&d 5e. This content is my personal experience running the adventure as a dungeon master. Awesome video Fred! This "How to" NPC advice is just what I needed to light my NPC building fire. I'm running a combination of LMoP and DoIP for a sizeable group (usually 6 or 7 PCs), and finally getting around to writing out an "NPC cheat sheet" of sorts will be a nice change up from just prepping the NPCs I need on a session to session basis. Color me inspired!

I just started Drogon of Icespire Peak and I made Adabra Gwynn (Umbrage Hill quest) the neice of Tobin Stonehill (tavern owner). It made sense and fit the story well.

I find just writing even a few words about a charecters motivations really draws out what that character will say and do in the world. Fleshing out NPCs is so important to making the world feel real and lived in!

I'm legit scared I'm going to burn out on DM'ing quickly. I'm a bit overwhelmed with how much I'm suppose to do before my first session for this adventure. It's okay for now because I'm still excited...but yeah, that excitement will eventually die down and I think trying to prepare for each session is going to start feeling like a real chore.
