Was your regular washer on "hot" setting? If so that's why the stains were so bad on the regular washer shirts rather than the mini washer shirts.

Used one of these for over 2 years now to wash small loads in between the laundry mat, recently got a larger portable washer (is probably 3 times as tall as that and easily twice as wide) and a portable dryer that runs off 120v and drys just as fast as the laundry mats dryers, for my small apartment its perfect and easily has saved me several hundred a year. That one is definitely defective on the spin dry. And yes, you did add WAAAY to much detergent..lol

Yes, the soap concentration to the amount of water was Way higher in the Portable versus the Regular. That would have an effect on the wine cleaning and possibly the yellow-ness.

I have had mine about 6 months and I'm loving it! As you noticed the machine does some serious shaking, especially when its in spin dry mode. What I do is leave the water in the washer side, remove the clothes and hand rinse them in the sink before dropping them in the in the spin side. The water in the wash tub helps act as ballast to steady the machine. You can also wash a second load while the machine is spin-drying your first load of clothes. I am very happy with my machine! Thank you for sharing your experience here!

Soap and pretreatment will give anyone better results... even when you “hand wash” things. I’ve owned portable machine for years! As long as I pretreat, soak, and then run, I always get great results. Water quality matters too. If you have hard water or high iron/manganese levels you are gonna get a yellowish hue. This is why some soaps are tinted blue to counteract the yellow. There are other reasons it’s blue, but it’s one of the reasons. Thanks for doing this video! Save $$$, and portable is awesome for no site laundry or even a garage unit for “super dirties”/rags.

A couple years back I purchased a "portable washing machine" off eBay. The cheapest I could find at about $50. I still have it, amazingly. It can wash socks, a couple of shirts, OR a single pair of pants. It has a "spin cycle" but to use it you have to take the clothes out and put them into a very small basket first. It barely does anything so I don't bother using it. I still occasionally break out the "portable washing machine" for a load of rags or other small items that I want washed but don't want to wait until laundry day.

Plus for the price of this one on Amazon you can save up a little more change and just get the big 26lbs machine instead of this small 13lbs machine.
The difference between them is this
      26lbs: 18lbs washer, 8lbs dryer
      13lbs: 8lbs washer, 5lbs spinner
The 26lbs unit also comes with a drain pump so you won't have to rely on gravity as much.

My clothes have come out much cleaner. You may need to find hacks for the set up and tweak them for your living arrangement/laundry routine. For example, the plumbing attachment did not work for me. I went to the $1 store, purchased a turkey baster and use that as an attachment. Or I use the removable shower head to fill. Mine has a pump & drains into my tub. I use a rubber strainer to collect the lint. Works like a charm. Good luck!

Hey man, thank you for this one. I live in an apartment without a washer and for the last ten years have been going to a local laundromat. When Covid reared it's ugly head, I bought a crappy hand crank camping washer so I wouldn't have to go to the laundromat. (laundry alternative wonderwash on Amazon). It worked, but it sucked cranking it for five minutes, then hand-wringing my clothes. Very tedious.
Then I saw this video and ordered a similar washer and oh my god, apartment life is so much better now. The laundry angels have descended from heaven and blessed me with
easy underwear and t-shirt cleaning. May Bob bless us all.

I've had one of these for almost 2 years, theyre awesome space savers, my only complaint is air dry time and excessive lint (heat dryers catch lint so much better)...The spin dryer is tricky it has to be balenced right or it will thrash around, remove an item and readjust it and it should spin correctly.

The portable washers tend to have a very strong agitator which is why there are more bubbles, so usually you would use less detergent than a normal washer. Some of those washer do have a water pump as well and can be drained into the sink or bathtub.

Just purchased a 20lb Auertech a few weeks ago with a drain pump. Auertech is European made. One of the reasons I purchased is because of comments in the reviews stating excellent customer service. And when researching for a long time all kinds of machines for my apartment, Auertech was an occasional name that came up in reviews with excellent comments. But I couldn't find the brand at the time here in the United States. Purchased one with a drain pump so it released the dirty wash water in less than five minutes. And it goes straight in the tub. I do not have to put it on a chair or stool which is just extra equipment I do not care for in my small bathroom. Am loving my choice, it goes straight into the tub and not too heavy to lift in and out. Some caveats which are: need an extra outlet cord even though my electrical outlet sits practically in the tub. The machine cord pulled taut. When I finally got my cord a few days ago, I now pull the washer towards the middle of the tub so It can monitor the water overflow. Ended up purchasing lint catchers for the drain hose which are white knee highs, a pair for about eighty cents at the big box drugstore. Am considering purchasing used ones from the thrift store but these will be dark and put off that oil material stink. The lint machine sometimes does a great job picking up lint. I use a flat screwdriver to open. The washer instructions say to also clean the 'bellows' but the instructions and pictures are not good, so I will be calling the company. The instructions state not to use petroleum based laundry soap. That could be referring to Zote-Fels Naptha. As for powdered or HE soap, most people will repurpose a dishwash liquid soap container and water down their laundry soap. I had laundry pods and I have done this at my last apartment and for the larger apt machines here for my blankets comforters. Most clothes especially towels, sweatshirts seem to have these detergents embedded deep in them. My old place I used buckets, plungers and also a seven inch high produce container and also an average sized fitting on top of the two wash buckets to both help drain rinse water especially with larger lap blankets me and my senior kitty use. Then I placed my items in a 3200RPM Ninja which was on the floor and if it was unbalanced it rocked and walked violently so I always had a mop on hand to clean up&reuse the water to mop the floor. I was able to reuse the clean water for yet another load of laundry, sometimes soaking. It does no to come with a centrifugal like the Panda and twin washers, so most loads took me one or two times to rebalance. After many efforts, I learned much better to dry in smaller loads and that age old saying of 'wash like with like; dry like with like' helps quite a bit at getting laundry successfully clean. Drawback was when I needed to take a shower, had to pile out everything on the bathroom floor. My clothes did dry well in a short time, but I lived upstairs with the window above the tub, a mandated apt bathroom vent with moisture sensors. In warmer months, a portable fan and in the winter a portable heater helped dry. Recently moved and my bathroom has no windows and in an area where I was warned condensation mold-mildew issues and no portable heaters allowed. Donated my Ninja thinking my new bathroom to small for it. Moving funds again tight so I handwashed in a storage tote and the drying on the shower rod took a very long time causing my windows condensation even with constant use of two apt ceiling fans and a portable fan in the bathroom and the bathroom vent going to run up my energy bills....once I bought the Auertech with the drain pump a few weeks ago, I knew I made the right choice! As for things like leggings, I set the timer not for 15minutea maximum but for 3-5minutes. I save the water in the tub and will wash my clothes until the water gets too dirty. I also rinse my leggings and sweatshirts separately. As for laundry detergent, it is very wise with Al types of wash machines or handwashing to mix with water before adding. As a granny now having lived in many places and set ups, this is extremely important with the HE detergents. Even after many years of handwashing in the tub and using the more powerful rpm spinner, I am still finding and learning as I go through towels, cleaning towels and sweatshirts and other clothes for their first wash in the twin tub, not to add in detergent until after a few minutes of the machine washing. The powerful Auertech is not a typical twin tub 300W motor but 350W makes a huge difference of pulling out that chemical suds HE that somehow embeds into clothes. Especially towels and sweatshirts which I was well aware that these items hold in laundry detergent like crazy especially the cuffs of sweatshirts. Especially since handwashing I went to great lengths to rinse out the towels and sweatshirts paying attention to the cuffs. Especially since the Ninja was giving out mostly clear water for the rinses. I used name brand detergent of two brands that after many cheaper brands and types, the name brands when I handwashed made a much better and easier clean....as for the Spinner, like the washer, and any other washer or dryer appliances, never overstufff. ..I use white vinegar with the high hopes and success from other wash machines, that this helps prevent a scummy build down break up. White vinegar is cheaper than ovepriced chemical heavily perfumed softener. Softener main function is to help clothes dry faster.....the spin dryer is a typical 1300 or 1350W and it seems easier on my clothes. I do not need to hold it down as a possible vibrations like I did with the 3200rpm. It could also be easier ony clothes because my new neighborhood has much better quality of water which should also help extend the life of my machine....as for not lease allowed to own a washer-dryers those standard written into leases long ago were based before portables that hooked up to a sink with an adapter were invented. Some tenants were without landlords knowledge, cutting into the apts pipes and things like some landlords having to pay extra water bills or lint in the pipes back up and no insurance on the structures should flood or fire situation happen. As for lint backup in the tub, there is a Green Gobbler package of sticks plus liquid-,powder products that are eco safe and work excellent that I have used in the past at other apartments. As for this apt, the bathtub stopper is one of those screw while lifting up and again I cannot do or call maintenance to remove so I can put in a separate lint catcher. As for all of these tidbits, I do enjoy the machine and getting my laundry done as one of my early morning routines.y laundry hang drying at a much faster rate than my first month. Although I am planning to purchase a boat-,rv-marine air dryer to heat and circulate the air to help dry and to prevent any mold-mildew issues. Not sure if it will work but it's next on my list to try and if effective, should cut down the energy methods I am stuck using and be more effective yet cheaper. But I love my twin tub over the packing up, trekking to the laundry room just to see if a machine that actually cleans might be available.

At the least, pretreating for a set time with the detergent he uses for the wash. This showed what needs to be done next time, now that he knows how he went wrong.

Not gonna lie, I think this would've been great for me if I was still working at a sand mine, everyday I would come home covered in mud and sand so I had to wash everyday but with something like this I think it would've been much easier and cheaper than using the big machines
Edit: speaking of which I think it would be great if Tyler tested this machine out with dirty and muddy clothes, like grease stains, mud, grass stains, etc.
Edit 2: I got one and the dryer on mine stopped automatically when the timer stopped so the one Tyler has is probably defective
Edit 3: I had it for less than a week and for some reason it stopped working because I would set the timer for 15 minutes and it would stop around the 6 minute mark so I'm not sure what went wrong, maybe it's because I used the pods? I'm not sure because I tried washing 1 pair of blue jeans and when I saw it struggle I stopped immediately and never done it again and only did light clothes like my shirts, socks, underwear, etc. But in the end it just stopped so I guess get one of the other brands with a little bit bigger price tag and possibly a bigger unit. I'll be fair and say that it did do a great job for the little amount of time I got to use it but make sure you have a drying rack for your clothes because it'll stay lightly damp but it won't be dripping wet once you put it in the "dryer"
