Addition to the others named, I recognize Willie Maiden playing Bari sax with Maynard at the beginning and then later Lanny Morgan on that brief alto solo. Willie did a lot of great arrangements for both Kenton and Maynard during those early band years.
There never was nor will there ever be another brass player like the Boss. Simply out of this world. 🎺
Damn, what a great leader and phenomenal brass technician. To be able to switch from one to another so quickly is unbelievable...
Chet Ferretti just BURNIN' on lead and Maynard with the doubling...band is swingin' HARD!!
Everyone is cookin. Look at the piano player, just chillin!
MF was damn awesome back in this era! When you can blow a Double-G right after blowing an entire phrase on baritone horn. Damn impressive!
That’s high G not double G. Maynard plays a double G on “All God’s children got rhythm” on an album called Dinensions.
Maynard is always pure joy!
Smokin...THX for posting!!!
you`re welcome!
Swingin’!
Thanks for posting this! Outstanding video, as usual. Keep up the great work!
also see Jaki Byard on the keyboard
i wanted to hear willie too!
Jaki Byard on piano?
Yes.
@@billkirchner6738 Who says you can't play piano and chew gum at the same time?
Who’s the drummer
Yeah that’s Jaki and Slide Hampton on trombone
More likely Charles Greenlea instead of Slide.
Slide was a lefty bone player-no lefty bone player here…
Let's see Cat Anderson do that......
Personnel list?

Willie is playing tenor sax on this track. “Humbug” by Don Sebesky.
