thanks for the tip. I ended up having to download the actual video drivers from the manufacture website, vs. VGA standard base windows 7 video drivers. after the PC rebooted, I was able to get into Kodi.

Thank you Sharon, updating the driver did the trick, that annoying error unable to create GUI exiting kodi is gone. Thought I would ask what caused it to not work, when I looked at the driver it had an error 37 in it?
this was the only thing that helped and I tried a lot in 3 days. for me it would be enough one sentence : "Update your graphic drivers (you idiot)" Thank you so much :)

I am running Windows Vista, Dell Studio 1735 and a Intel (R) 965 graphics card, it's the latest driver available. I did everything you suggested and Kodi still wont load. Can you help?

same here windows vista on a hp laptop with intel graphics, keeping getting unable to create gui..uninstalled kodi and reinstalled twice..nothing. updating the graphics card didnt help
I tried everythg, but the fix for me was to install older version of Kodi, which was 15.2. The issue is that the latest Kodi uses DirectX 11 and some intel video adapters on Vista don't handle it well. Kodi 15.2 uses DirectX 9 and it runs fine. Pulse works well with it as well. Still having some issues with Acestream though. Hope this helps.
I clicked on userdata and then I searched for profiles. But I don't have profiles and Kodi doesn't work. Can you help me?
what link are you talking about for the GUI fix? You say a link will appear after clicking on browse my computer but that doesn't happen.

+HiVe ViisionZ Sorry,its my accent.You locate your driver by going to start>search in search bar 'device manager'>display adaptors>click on whichever driver you have.
Worked for me : delete "profiles.xml" file (C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata). Hope that helps.

ikr this is so annoying she cant even say error properly. + where are you supposed to locate the driver if we haven't got it installed. if this is a tutorial then show us how and don't skip bits!!!
