tenia el mismo error después de tanto buscar lo que me funciono fue desistalar todo reiniciar mi pc luego instalar la misma versión que tenia pero estas vez instalarla fuera de la carpeta archivo de programas por defecto queda así C:\Program Files\kodi yo lo deje así C:\kodi cuando lo instalas cambias la carpeta donde alojar el programa y arranca bárbaro suerte !!
This didn't work for me, It continues saying 'error: unable to create application, exiting'. iv tried numerous things to try and get I up and running but none seem to work. any more suggestions?

Or just try to switch from high-performance to integrated graphic card. Worked for me though.

rightclick on the desktop, nvidia system control, then 3d settings, and then switch from "automatic choice"/"high-performance" to "integrated card"
