Oh hell yes I'll sub and bookmarked the website! Seriously, well played! To you and your team on behalf of every frustrated 3D printer enthusiast - Thank you for stepping up to the plate, we needed this!
I believe the easiest area for features to improve is the search, finding interesting or specific models it's not very easy now. Also: 9 points for creating collections = 0 if all rewards require multiple of 10 points! Welcoming the whole 3D printing community is fantastic.
Thanks for the feedback. Search is definitely something we are playing with on our test servers, trying to improve it step by step. But even know it should be pretty good for most cases. Haha and the annoying 3x3 points, slightly triggering OCD, we already have a fix for that on the way. :)
Excellent strategy! Kudos to Josef and his team for pushing the hobby forward. Love all the heart and effort the team at Prusa has put into this site. It's fantastic. I've been a very satisfied Prusa MK3S user since February 2019, and I look forward to many more years of fun and useful 3D printing projects!
Ikr! And the fact that Printables "dowload all" button actually does something other than scrolling the page for you to I dividually download every file. I had to individually download over 300 files for a project once cuz their stupid button dosent do squat... I hate thingiverse so much because of those two things. Both of these things are honnestly not that hard to do from a developer standpoint either. Im so glad Prusa finally made this mainstream. Im hoping I never have to use thingiverse again.
Love the site. Awesome features and you can tell that an experienced team of web devs are making it. Leaps and bounds better than other model hosting sites! Thank you for putting to much effort into making the whole ecosystem better not only for Prusa printers, but also the community as a whole!
Every time I wanted to go to the site, I had to think about the name because the name implies it's a site for the printers themselves. This is a good change.
Hey, I had a great idea earlier for your new badge system. idk if this was already thought of, but you guys should make 3d models of the badges, and then unlock the file when you unlock the badges so you can print the badges you earn!
Been a user for a bit and love it. Even tho I have an Ender 3 Pro and Aquila, I still am a dedicated PrusaSlicer user. You guys are the best by a long shot. Thingi needed some good competition as well.
You had me sold at the badge system. Achievement hunting is addictive. I really hope this takes off. Has some great looking features and incentives to design and upload your own models as well as features that other sites had and then removed which infuriate the end user.
one of the funniest experiences ive had with prusaprinters models was downloading stuff that had tolerances for prusa printers and printing them in non prusa and got everything welded together 😂
I think it would be very useful to have a section under 3D Printers for component models to have a reliable place to find models of common fans, stepper motors, basic screw types and other parts needed to help design new printer upgrades.
I'd really love to be able to see a tree of remixes at once, without having to dig and dig and open tabs to keep track of which iterations I think are good. Something where, at a glance I can see date, makes, and a thumbnail would be awesome!
hey Josef, one of the things that "annoy" me is when i want to put one model from one collection to another. I have to click and "untick" the first. Then click again and "tick" the other one. I would very much love an improvement with less clicks if possible, all in all you got an awesome platform there!
'Import from thingaverse' model might be something work thinking about. Allowing someone to move over their current collections of models they made with a few clicks.
The website looks good, but the usage terms seem unfavorable to makers: "...User grants to the Operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, gratuitous license for the unlimited use of all of the User Content published through the Services by any and all known means for the entire duration of the respective economic rights (hereinafter the “License”), as well as the right to sublicense. The Operator is not obliged to use the License. By uploading the User Content, the User consents to its publication by the Operator, as well as to any modification, alteration or use of the User Content by the Operator for commercial purposes and without attribution."
Any chance of doing a similar rebrand for PrusaSlicer? I've had trouble trying to convince people to switch from Cura because they don't have prusa printers
i'm very skeptical about openscad because it can't make a STEP for further cad work. Other than that, built-in parametric customizeability is a very cool feature.
You have to manually select the category the model goes into when uploading a model. For models imported from Thingiverse, there is a mapping between their categories and our categories. But you can always edit it later. ;)
Being able to view amf files in 3d like you can 3mf and stl would be nice. As would being able to add more images /files after publishing. Or being able to publish an upgraded version of one of your exisisting prints because design is an iterative process.
You can add more images and files anytime, just click the little 3 dots in the the preview of the model and select "Edit". ;) Regarding AMF - AMF is ambiguous and the specification is only available for a fee, we're not a huge fans of the format and will likely give priority to other features. -Mikolas
And now the BIG question - Are you now going to allow ADULT models?? Seeing as how that is the ONLY TRUE way to become "The ultimate database of 3D models for everyone". OR are you just going to be "The almost fully realized database of 3D models for most people"? 🤔
Given that Thingiverse started banning random content like any reference to Christianity (including the Rio statue, that I wanted to print) out of nowhere, literally any halfway-decent alternative is miles better now.
Please no monetizarion! Every person who uploads a model would rather have his model generating revenue. If you do start monetization please use some sort of wall you have to pass before you start earning money.
[SOLVED] Sorry to kill the party, but breaking existing links out of projects for a new brand? Why not providing smooth forwarding? I am sorry, but bad execution.
all my links redirect properly? maybe you have a dns issue - those usually take 2 hours to a max of 24 hours to resolve on a domain change. nobody can do something about this, as its on your isp side. (Unless you switch to a custom dns)
@@_caith Thanks for the feedback. It was not working here. I was using two different networks, even via cellular it did not work on different machines at the time I made the comment. Now it does.
printables -by josef prusa- actually not by Josef Prusa. by everyone else. seems kinda petty and egomaniacal to slap your name on the website where EVERYONE is sharing their stuff, no? I mean, is there even an "actually by Josef Prusa" part of the page? no?
His company built the site... right? You go ahead and put the time effort and money in to build something half as good and you can call it whatever you want

Super supportive of this. Nail in the coffin for thingiverse
The website and app are looking fresh and work very smooth. I think the best I have experienced so far!
This was a great move. I could never remember to old name and always ended up on the printer site.

If pritables won't make people switch from thingyverse then i don't know what will :D This is one of the best maintained sites I've seen
this is thingiverse killer app. Finally.
hopefully. jesus thingiverse is so broken
the free spool thing is a mastermind strategy.
Для меня thingyverse стал помойкой, из-за обилия бесполезных моделей и слабой поисковой системы.
This site evolved from a sharing site to basically a social network for 3D enthusiasts. And that in a good way! Impresive!
a dark mode would be really nice
Nice One.. I can see this printables future👍
Name and new site are great! ♥ This should finally make it more mainstream
Printables is a much better sounding name. I love the contribution you guys are constantly bringing to this community. Thank you so much

Good Idea. i found the old name to be too cryptic / hidden for non-prusa owners.

Outstanding! Keep on like this PRUSA Team. Great ideas as usual.
Project End Thingiverse is going well, great work guys
Thingiverse spent 2021 ending itself lol
what you bring to the 3d printing community is awsome👍printables is Great hoping this will be the new go to site for 3d models
Congrats. It must be Friday, again.
I hope that the quality of the models don’t decrease too much when the database grows.
BTW nice logo.

We have that implemented for quite some time! :) Just a few clicks and all your designs will import.
I love the Idea of having a new ad-free 3D Printing Site that is responsable...
but what about a App for the Website?

Nice job. I’m looking for a 3d model library with responsive UI but no ADs for years
More Collections would be great.
Im limited to 20 + the Standard Collection "Liked Prints"
Noted!
Is there a way to embed my printables model on a Squarespace website? I'd like to track views/downloads/likes from a single source.
I would love OpenSCAD based customiser support, like on thingieverse. That is the final feature I'm missing personally.

Dark mode pls :D

my post on printables wont post how do I post a print on the page?
How do I select what categories an upload can go into? It seems to happen randomly!
You have to manually select the category the model goes into when uploading a model.
For models imported from Thingiverse, there is a mapping between their categories and our categories. But you can always edit it later. ;)

Very good idea!
Smart Josef very Smart ;)
Just one question. What about add paid models?
They mention it around 2:28, it sounds like it's planned
If u add the ability to monatize modles u should have a check box next to the search where u can decide if they show up or not
I have a suggestion: why not add a search bar to groups page that searches groups
Why do I consistently get a message that the person has not uploaded a printable file when I try to download a file to print??
Amazing!
love it!
