- Here is the entire history of Hearthstone Battlegrounds in a nutshell! Including most of the big updates and patches, changes in the game, meta, cards, heroes, monetization.. I tried to make it as bite-sized as possible but let me know what things I might've missed that were worth including. Enjoy!

As one of the OGs, watching this video gives me such a strong feeling of nostalgia. So many fun memories, and also some horrible memories. (*Ahem* Gentle Megasaur and Amalgadon.) Great summary!
Megasaur and Amalgadon defined battlegrounds for such a long time, its crazy ro rhink there was a short time where they were both in the game
I wonder if they could safely come back in today's meta with all of the new factors. I honestly think they could.
Only omission I saw was not mentioning Leeroy, he shaped a lot of things when they removed spore.

@@ItsBen321 I wasn't around when either came out, first time I ever saw them was when I started playing again a couple of months ago, so it would've been interesting hearing why they were so relevant.
Jeesh, I remember a game where I played Tirion with a taunt comp with the Phalanx Commander. I'd never seen someone playing with that comp before and, obviously after, since both the hero and the card were removed. But I remember it was a wild game

This makes me appreciate the current meta so much more. I have depressed all the shenanigans with amalgadons and megasaurs. Many different strategies now with different minion pools also
You forgot the pivotal moment when they moved Battlegrounds out of "Modes," and onto the home screen as its own category.
I'm waiting for it to become its own app so I can just delete Hearthstone

I didnt realize Amalgadon was added so late....I remember Pirates being added but didnt play with them a lot, and dont remember Arcane Cannon at ALL. But I remember Mug and Jug and playing with Mr. Bigglesworth....I know I got back into Hearthstone for a bit when Forged in the Barrens came out, which introced Qullboars, and remember playing them a lot in Battlegrounds because they were fun and strong. So that's probably the period I remember Amalgadon from, which was still years ago at this point, but it feels like such an OG minion in hindsight.
Its crazy how battleground have been out since 2019. Ive been playing every single day and it feels like it was released yesterday.. what a addictive game

Oh Tirion. I miss the days when buffing your whole board +1/+1 for 1g was absurd

I hate that they changed the khadgar+brann interaction with tokens.

It's not that Reno can turn into a dragon, many dragons just have humanoid shapes they can turn into.

Love the video Ben. My question to you, and the community here is, do you guys think there’s too much? It feels like a chore to keep up with this game constantly changing.
Maybe for new players, but there is also a degree of "good enough" and "just right". As a new player in a game I will still have fun because I'm playing at my own MMR, now without such a system it would be way more oppressive
i actually enjoy the fact the meta gets shaken up and changed on a continuous basis like this.. or else i feel like it would get very dry after a while.. it would be doing the same comps game after game.. but this way.. those same comps become always ever changing.. but i also think the heros now have alot to do with wins.. and putting the +2 in the pass means its sort of p2w.. or pay for better luck with hero selection... not sure how to put it.. but it raises the chance of getting a good hero to choose from (even tho you could pick a bad hero because you like them or something) anyways thats my 2 cents xD much love

Also, you didn't mention tyrion at all? Not gonna lie this video feels really rushed. Like the history of battle grounds is so beautiful and expansive that this really didn't do it justice. Still liked the video, but would appreciate if a little more effort went into documenting the history of bgs
Removed minions....Some should never been added into the game ( magasaur, amalgadon, holy makrel ) some others I still miss ( faceless tavergoer, hamul )

When did Whirlwind Tempest create an oppressive playstyle? The card was awful and synergized with next to no units, gave very little tempo and didn't grow anything. It was removed because it wad the opposite of oppressive.
I miss Diablo. Great concept, should have just been reworked/debuffed instead of removed.
You know what could be a fun idea for BGs. Bring back all the the things like they did with Darkmoon Prizes and Diablo. 1/5 of the games have prizes, 1/5 have Diablo, 1/5 have buddies, 1/5 have quest, and 1/5 are normal games. It'd be fun variety and also a bit chaotic.

Diablo needs to not be in games anymore. He's apparently impossible to balance and makes lobbies seriously tilting with little payoff. Like, is anyone excited to get random junk spells at the risk of Diablo winning the whole lobby because he got strong early?
@@SomersBugtopia That's completely fair. I just wanted to include everything. Making the rates 1/4 for each and dropping Diablo would be good as well.

Nope, i think she was one of the original heroes.Her hero power removed a minion from your board for a shitty buff to adjacent ones lol.
Sylvanas (and a bunch of other heroes like Gallywix) were introduced into BG very early on with a terrible heropower, so they were later removed, reworked and then reintroduced

I play this to collect the reward track stuff and make it to 5700-6k without even trying just doing that . Whatever that means I don’t even care . Couldn’t imagine sitting in a room all day playing this much less talking about it. It’s not that hard to see the synergies it’s harder for me to not get bored with it😂
