I used to make my leader with mono on top to save money until a shark hit it at a weird angle and ended up swallowing the leader up past where mono began and cut me off when I caught up with him and applied pressure. I could see teeth marks in the mono about 9-10” above where he cut it off. If you start your cast with your hips and look up at about 45/degrees you will gain some distance on your cast.
