The star system in HxH is an indicatior of acomplishment. To gain one star you need to make a significant improvement to the hunter organisation or an equally great discovery. To get the 2nd star you need to train a disciple who gets his own star and hold an official position in the Associaltion. And the third star you get when you keep going and branching out and make significant improvements/ discoveries in multiple fields for the hunter association. All that while not breaking any of the main hunter rules/ commandments. So being even a one star hunter is a big deal. Hope that helps :)
Here's how the Stars work. To get One Star status you have to achieve something of extremely notable significance, like uncovering long lost ancient ruins, recovering a long lost artifact, etc. To become a Two Star Hunter, one of your students must reach One Star status. To become a Triple Star Hunter you must basically acquire a Single Star in multiple different fields, and dedicate yourself to following the 6 Tenets that all Hunters need to live by.

IIRC star rankings are like this : 1* make a breakthrough in a field/ get a remarkable achievement in a field 2* have a star already and have a pupil that has a star 3* both the above + multiple achievements in multiple fields
I think Hisoka vs Pouf could have been interesting. I don’t see him matching the other 2. He is way way stronger than he appeared at Heavens Arena, but hard to say if he could match the Royal guards.
To get a star from Hunter, Hunter must go to the best of his own expertise. For example, Jin has a work as an ancient site, get 1 star, will get 2 stars. There are 2 ways to report your hunter’s work to your disciples to get 1 star. In the case of liking 1 star, making Jin 2 stars. Jin is not 3 stars, it doesn‘t come back to report to the association.
Idk why people like to fantasize A LOT but Hisoka himself is very aware of the limitations of his nen power, as we can read on the manga and its very much not a figther but a MAGICIAN WHO RELIES ON TRIKCS AND WIT TO OVERCOME SUCH DIFFERENCES, thats his game. It goes without saying that of couse hes on the top 50 at least.
Gon's power during his fight with Pitou is a bit hard to calculate, cause he use the self contract (i forgot the actual term) and specify that power is only to fight Pitou. So, 1. That power wouldn't / can't effect his fight if he fight with Hisoka 2. IIRC, what he did was like a "time travel?", meaning if he had trained for years to come, he could reach that level naturally. So, the "current" Gon still can't fight Hisoka, future Gon if he were to train to reach that level can As for Killua vs Hisoka, IMO he have the advantage on speed with his godspeed form, but still not enough raw strength & Hisoka is more cunning. And like most speed type character, if you got stuck in place you're done, so Bungee gum is a bad match up for him
if you imagine a fight between gon powered up and hisoka, it's really hard to tell. the point is, gon, as an enhancer, is clearly physically stronger, but acts more on his instincts. Hisoca on the otherhand, as a transmutater, is all brains and also a fighting/killing genious who knows how to use his nen perfecly to be three or four steps ahead of his enemy. if i would imagine the fight, gon would only walk right through hisoka, if hisoka underestimates him or just wants to play. But if they fight to death, it's really hard to tell who is stronger.
The star system is not well explained. You get X's for important discovery in your field. If you get enough you gain a star, to gain a second star you have to mentor another hunter into their first star rank, I don't think it ever specified how one gets the third star however those who have the third star are considered the best of the best.
Something’s always been in the back of my mind whenever the Election Arc resurfaces in reactions and ever since I first saw it, that Togashi saw Paris Hilton’s sex tape. 😂😂😂
the level of stars a hunter has doesnt necessarily mean or equates directly to ones strength, but more in accomplishments in a particular field...so although not really a spoiler, ging is clearly very strong but still just 2 star. but he definitely could be 3 star if he applied for it; only if he couldnt be assed to do it
I think Killua would walk on Hisoka.... did you really think this. Hisoka is one of the strongest in this show. He would not have a problem with gon or killua. there is only a handful in this show that will give hisoka a run for his gum.
I don't think Killua can win against Hisoka. In term of stats, Hisoka is still above him and on top of that Hisoka is a bad match up for Killua right now. Killua's speed doesn't matter if Hisoka just bungees his own defence to catch him which means Killua would need to: 1) One-shot Hisoka, which he isn't strong enough in Nen to do yet (even when he stuns people with Lightning, their Nen defense seem to remain active, that's why Killua couldn't just one-shot the Bomber guy on Greed Island after stunning him) 2) Outlast Hisoka which is pretty much impossible. Hisoka has shown no sign of ever running out of Nen, Bungee Gum seems to be an insanely efficient ability in term of Aura consumption. On the other hand, Killua can run out of electricity relatively quickly in combat situation. Killua will only gain the advantage over Hisoka when he manage to activate Ko quickly enough after stunning Hisoka to hit him and strongly enough to one-shot him. He will very likely get at that level eventually as he's insanely talented and his physical strength potential is off the charts but he's not there yet. That being said, you're right about Hisoka compared to the ants. Hisoka is weaker than the RGs, the King or Netero, and it's not particularly close xD
Oh, absolutely Hisoka isn't at the top. He's veeery powerful, for sure, but he's not broken by any means, specially considering he's only got two kinda situational but infinitely flexible Nen skills. Hisoka's greatest weapon is his cunning and smarts. Not his power. Edit: I heard yall, Situational wasn't the best choice of word to describe it but you get my fucking point, it's not tailored for fighting, Hisoka makes it work great despite that, not the other way around.
