      8 years on the 125s are gone.
      A few lucky 225s are still going strong on East Coast (now called LNER) and they’ve received a lot
      of love and care with new liveries and maintenance.

    • @gkeaoyrge
      @gkeaoyrge 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@manomaylrIndeed! Quite a few changes since I posted this comment (which I've no memory of doing!). The railways are now in one of their darkest phases where moral is at rock bottom. Now the 225's are mostly retired, I hope to see a Class 91 one day displayed at the NRM in York in its original InterCity livery next to the Class 43.

    It really makes me angry when I see how angry people get when their train is delayed. It's an inconvenience, but that's all it is. A man's heart stopped three times on one of the trains here and That was what caused the delays. Those arrogant passengers should count their lucky stars all they had to deal with was a later train.

    • @Tuppoo94
      @Tuppoo94 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But if that man had been one of them it would've been completely justified to cause delays, of course.

      @louissachs9071 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thats a fair point but you think about what the network rail people have to do to keep services moving. In a way they are miracle workers because they are able to reopen the lines so quickly whilst under the stress or reopening the line. I must say I would be angry if I had to pay that much for a ticket.

    I, like many people found it very easy to critique the dysfunctional state of Brtain's railway infrastructure and organizational operating procedures since they were privitized. Compared to main land Europe, where national railways remain State ran and are highly efficient, and given that track and rolling stock companies are often bailed out bt government, I asked myself if it was time to rationalize the entire network. This very informative series mase me think different abd enlightened me as to just how complex running a railway service in the UK is. Unlike main land Europe, the UK is densely populated and where rail travel demands have never been higher. I don't know what the answers are but I am now unconvinced that nationalization will solve the issues as observed in this programme. Thanks for a great upload. Garry Harrima. South Carolina.

    And the major problem is over-crowded passengers always think they have to make sure that they will going back home punctually or either arrived at company to work in cased of they have important things to do by keep complaining station crews. I understand of how it feels when over-crowded passengers are struggling to wait for the next train but sometimes passengers need to understand workers had do their job to ensure everything is successful everyday. Workers had spent overnight to inspect every thousands of miles to see if there are anything stuck or any obstacle are blocking it's track, do you think railways mission is an easier thing to do?
    Now i'm here to suggest those passengers to experience how's the real railway mission actually like. Railway needs more manpower by hiring engineers, repair workers, station crew and driver. Then you'll realise complaining will just making everything much worse. If you feel unsatisfied their own action, you could have leave your opinions on survey that railway crews gave you.

    • @leopoldslikkvstamkiu8718
      @leopoldslikkvstamkiu8718 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yup, you're probably right, i believe many people's are worried about they can't go home on time or late for work by being mad about transportation services aren't efficient enough, that what else can they do if they're feel satisfied? Passengers cannot complain in front of the station crews here when some situation do feel hopeless, they could leave the message on survey and let railway department know of what should they improve.
      Nothing is perfect, only you can do it better.

    Network Rail is effectively a Government department. Train operators receive billions in Government subsidies annually.
    We might not have paid it all in ticket costs (which were and are ridiculously high), but we were paying in taxes.
    Although, now that there are emergency nationalisation instruments passed by Government, it's going to be a different issue going forward.

    The Class 43 is awesome, in train sim it's my goto ride. Mostly because it gets a decent bit of speed (125mph)
    The 166's are good if you want all those short distance stops

      Some BR Class 166 services emulates part of Class 43 services: nonstop journeys between Reading and London Paddington. They even use the same track as Class 43.

    HST train looks absolutely slow. just like the average speed of the pre high speed train. That's not making me feel like i am in high speed train

      Slow acceleration but actually quite quick top speed. More comfortable than any new plastic Japanese train but I agree, it's time to change as long as a few of these iconic trains are kept

      The HSTs hold the world record for the fastest diesel train. Almost all operators around the country are getting either new trains within 5 years or have received them in the last 5 years

    • @Sarge92
      @Sarge92 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      theres a difference
      323 would be a first class return probably first class and maybe not ecven for one person food and wifi included
      49 is no baggage included youll pay extra for that
      no inflight meal
      headphones extra
      and youll be sitting with your legs but by your head crammed inside the airplane bathroom with 5 other people

      With that said, don't forget that you'd have to book the flight in advance to get that fare while the train journey tickets weren't bought in advance but right before travelling.

    • @Sarge92
      @Sarge92 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yup train tickets just get more expensive the later you book them cause they know you need them my average journey to devon costs me around 50-60 if i book 3 monthes in advance the most ive paid is 120 the night before

      She's paying the maximum peak time walk up fare in first class, and she's paying a penalty for buying a ticket on the train. She's just lazy.

    29:46 : "Who's in charge here?" "Him..." "Me"... "Him..." Had to laugh out loud here knowing full well that these guys are working with high tension cables, in storm winds, when a cable going in the wrong direction can knock their head off - and they're smart enough to know that in situations like these you have be loose and light.

    A priest that can swear with the best of them, a priest who looks just like them. A priest that can not be distinguished from the world, what a mighty testimony. Be ye separate and peculiar completely distinguished from the world. Above all things swear not at all, even though the word swear in this case was meant for cussing or using profanity and not making a promise upon ones own head or Gods. The need to express the Truth far outweighed the ability to be silent. O Lord how long?

    • @leslieross3404
      @leslieross3404 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also is it not so that a priest ought to be grave? Or sober, to be showing forth the severity of what is coming. To set a standard and a pattern that expresses the gravity of the situation facing all mankind? A friend of the world is the enemy of God, not His worker or helper. Bearing a title means nothing, being the title means everything. Ordained men is nothing, ordained of God is everything.
      Grave - all seriousness, nothing to joke about, to be authoritative, weighty in the matter in which one professes to be of or about. Rude even, contemptible for the Truth appears to be to them not of it.

    "One of only two female drivers on East Coasts scottish routes" - do not think that means one of only two female drivers in Scotland.
    I'm a guard and former trolley steward in Scotland.
    I can confirm that there are many female drivers in Scotland (like all railways, not as many as we would like) and some of them are amongst our best drivers.
    I have (when I was in hospitality) been the only man on the platform and alot of the public come to me to ask questions . . . I have honestly said, 'sorry, I just serve the teas and coffees! Your guard is that lady there, and your driver? That lady speaking to your guard 🤣🤣🤣
    I'm a guard now, and I'd like to be a driver . . . But its doesnt escape the fact that a good guard or driver is a good guard or driver irreguardless of gender or anything else for that matter.
