Tossing some shade: i went to a shop called Atticus tattoo in my city, they "expired" my deposit after they didnt try calling my to book an appointment on my traveling artist's books for 2/3 years. I had called myself and spoke to the artist and the shop was the only way to book them at the time. I was told on my consultation that her hourly for the shop was $170/hr, and then i went to pay after my first session and they charged me $200/hr. It's something they seem to do all the time. Rip people off.
Charging a consultation fee that big and then also charging for multiple concept sketches AND edits is so wild. Like, tell me you don’t know what you’re doing without telling me you don’t know what you’re doing. How do you leave the consultation with zero idea of what your client actually wants? And then blame THEM for your inability to follow through on an agreement.
I’ve got a good number of tattoos (mostly large pieces) from 4 artists in 3 countries, never even heard of a design fee and consultation charged separately. This is absolutely infuriating and an artist like that shouldn’t practice.
Yep where I am in Australia they don't charge for consultations, other areas or states artists might differ- also the avg hourly rate is $180 where I live in Australia 😅
Thankfully Ontario has consumer protection laws regarding services and pricing ect which require estimates and total costs to not be more than 10% above estimated price without other consumer protections in place to prevent predatory pricing. They also require full disclosure of pricing and all additional fees ect prior to service. The artist will not win and is going to have to pay out a hefty amount of money . The Canadian tattoo community is tight-knit and the chance of her ever getting viable work and clientele in the field in Canada is now minimal at best.
My biggest tattoos (half sleeves) have cost me $400 + tip. No consultation, you come in with references they draw it up for you and it’s all apart of the ACTUAL tattoo. That lady was scamming like CRAZY!!
It’s crazy how much she charges for consultation/drawing/design! All Tattoo artists I know don’t charge for design and I pay around £80/90 an hour for mine. Hope she gets her Karma soon
yeah the charging more to get to change the designs does not at alllll sit right with me, basically twisting clients arms to get more out of them or settle for something they don't want. disgusting, like shouldn't you want to make sure someone is happy with it ? like don't mess around when it comes to something so permanent. mine have all been around 100USD an hour, all b&w linework like the woman in the video, so 1900 for two hours of work is wild

I paid only $1000AUD ($650USD) for a massive dragon tattoo with black and red ink with shading, details etc. That took 6 and a half hours to do. 4 grand for just that is crazy.
this is so sinister, I don’t think I’ve ever even paid over £50 for a deposit and I’ve never paid extra for a consultation/discussion of the ACTUAL tattoo
the first red flag was charging $180 let alone ANYTHING for a consultation. i’ll tip on free consultations for their time but ain’t no fkin way you can charge ppl for a consultation. so unprofessional
As someone with tattoos and heartbroken that my artist decided to go back to school and won't be coming back, I saw that tattoo and the first words out of my mouth "That's not a $4000 tattoo, I'd say max of $500 MAYBE"
as a commission artist its so wild to me they can't change anything without paying $6000 😭 i allow my clients to change things as many times as they want until they're happy with it and I do not make anywhere near the amount she does (obviously)
I paid $120 deposit for a tattoo and another $80 on the day, since it was a detailed one with small lines they got faded when they healed so I messaged the tattoo place and got it retouched for free, they were such lovely people, I couldn’t imagine having these as tattooist in my state
Thanks for the update! I was thinking about this ordeal the other day. I really hope that these two ladies can get some sort of compensation from this scummy artist!
all my work totals about 5/6 hours across 8 tattoos each 2-6 inches, they’re different parts of my body and different artists and sessions but all grouped together i’d say they’re comparable to the size of hers, if not bigger. they also vary in detail and such but yeah. total i’ve paid about $1,000 for everything with some being flash deals and some custom. NO WAY is that unfinished piece she got worth $4k i kinda wanna see some tattoo shops do a little bit where they go around to their artists asking what they would charge for the piece. i’m not an artist and not familiar with all the ins and outs of how they price their work but i’d guess no more than $2k and even that seems to be pushing it
ALSO as far as deposit i’ve paid $50-100 and it’s always gone towards the final price of the tattoo (but typically for the flashes i haven’t done deposits cause they’re walk ins)
Let's see if Miss Lindsay Joseph's laywer likes the sound of "She spread my drivers license all over the internet aka. doxxed me and that's highly illegal too".
ATP I feel like there should be some regulation with these small business owners thinking they can charge an arm and a leg for shoddy work, imagine charging New York apartment rent prices for an unoriginal idea and a bad design at that, it’s the same thing with these new hair girlies, charging $700 for ppl to do half the work and a low effort touch up like id literally rather kms 😭
I’ve never even paid a “consult fee” let alone a design fee!!!!! All of my tattoos are simple, but they are all original designs of whatever artists were in the various shops I’ve been in. “Consultation” never took longer than 30 mins and I was never charged for it or a “design fee”. I’ve always been a very good tipper (🇺🇸) so maybe thats where this issue is coming from? Artists who are afraid of bad tippers maybe trying to negate that by adding extra “fees” ???
The most I ever paid for a tattoo (I have about 20) was 400 not including tip. And it was from a well know studio in Las Vegas. This artist is delusional.
I got a huge Draculaura tattoo that took 5 hours and I paid $500 for it. Full color, from my shoulder to about my elbow. I couldn’t imagine paying 1k for a SKETCH?! No. I feel bad for the woman who didn’t realize it was a scam before it was too late. ETA: my deposit was $100 and that went towards the cost of the tattoo. It wasn’t extra money.

my entire half sleeve that took collectively 8+ hours to do only cost me $600. that includes tip. two portraits & flowers. ive been getting tattooed for almost 15 years now at many different shops and have NEVER seen artist charge like that.

the fact she’s suing the clients and the clients aren’t the ones suing her blows my mind. her work looks like shit to be completely honest and she has no morals when it comes to what she’s charging
got a big ass tattoo on my right upper arm and it’s a gorgeous piece of work that is in colour and took 5 hours from a great tattoo artist. it was like $800 aud including my deposit like??
yeah i’m leaving the shop before i ever pay that amount lol. call the cops. also would just NEVER pay $850 for a deposit. i don’t blame the clients but y’all need to do more research.
This is insane! I’ve never paid for a consult or draft. I’ve only ever paid $100 as a deposit for the actual appointment for a bigger piece which went towards the final price. After I got a few tattoos from my artist she stopped charging me the deposit all together because she knew I was reliable for showing up.
As a tattoo artist, I despise this "artist." Yes, you can charge what you want, but JFC be reasonable about it. Have a coworker that does flowers that same way all the time and has never charged more than $300 max.The dude she learned it from was congratulating her on how much she was making then spun around and was like, no no I didn't tell her to do that. Hope she loses miserably.

Some tattoos are worth thousands…… that tattoo is NOT worth anywhere close to that. That looks worse than the one on my arm that I paid like 700$ for…. For two sessions. 😂
I mean this in the most respectful way: Imagine having to pay $4,000+ on a tattoo and having to be reminded of that experience every time she looks at her shoulder.?Ugh what a terrible situation
4.5k?? My ex got a big tattoo covering his upper arm done in Soho, London by a pretty damn good artist and it costed £350. No deposit, no designing fee. The artist saw a bunch of photo references of what my ex wanted and just free hand drew a sketch on his arm and it was perfect. It was such a good tattoo. Probably the best I've ever seen. Given that it was not coloured, maybe that's why it's cheaper. And it was from pre covid, pre inflation time so I assume it would cost like £500 now. I live in Germany and a tattoo artist here told me it's more expensive to get a good tattoo done in Germany compared to the UK but even then it's like €600 instead of £500. No chance of it going up to 4.5k for something like this
Honestly charging for changes and adjustments for a tattoo design is simply brain dead to me. Like it is smth that will be on ur body permanently how does it even make sense to charge someone for wanting the art to be just the way they want it, it’s just absolutely insane. I think charging a “design fee” is pretty reasonable even though I hv personal not paid a “design fee” for any of my tattoos. But I see it as more of an art commission? Which makes sense but I think it is literally obvious that it should come with as many changes as the client wants.
Not gonna lie I was kinda hoping when Ri asked for advice from Tik Tok lawyers I wanted Jeanette Braun to like jump out and stitch the video or something
The first section of my half sleeve was 8 1/2 hours of work for $900 over 3 sessions. 4k for an outline of flowers?!?!? Nahhhh. Wish I could add a picture. My first section of my half sleeve is an elephant with flowers, all incredibly detailed with a realism style. I went back to get the underneath finished with more flowers later and in total its still less than the 4k she was charged for a 1/4 of the size of tattoo i had with no shading detail. This artist is wackkkkkkkkkkk. said it before Ill say it again. The fox sketch is also so pathetic.
I don't know which state they work in but in the US usually across the board the standard is $100 minimum an hour up to at most $400 an hour. The artists who charge $300-$400 an hour usually are either in two categories; #1 they are a celebrity who either got famous and then start tattooing or are famous tattoo artists (anyone from inkmaster or similar shows or tiktok/insta famous artists), or they are #2 extremely talented in photo-realism, portraits, known for huge pieces (think back piece, full arm or leg sleeve). I looked through her work and based on size, detail and the fact her speciality is fine line geometric water color (a very popular style that a place like ontario, CA would have at least a dozen who already specialize in that field) I know for a fact she is over charging. Most of these designs are on average between 4-10 inches, are done with a 2-4 needles and usually a max of five colors meaning most of these should be done in 2-6 hours by a professional which means that AT MOST she should reasonably charge between $300-$1200 TOTAL. Deposit to sketch to tattoo to finish. Plus if she's such a "smart" business owner then she should have other artists working in her shop that are also paying her for use of the space/supplies. It frustrates me so much that tattoo artists like this make the industry that is just barley beginning to be taken seriously look like a joke. -tattoo artist
It has been so long and I still don't get the whole "sketch + 1,2,3 small changes" like... if I don't like it what haha I'll get something I hate tattooed because I already paid for a sketch with no changes?
I’m still baffled that any tattooist would charge for a sketch of a tattoo is this an American thing cause I’ve been tattooed multiple times and none of the tattooist have changed for sketch or consultation. It’s total robbery.
Never paid for a design 😮 I’m still baffled by the tipping situation to like I paid for my tattoo I’m happy ThankYou bye!Like here in the Uk I pay a hourly rate if we finish 30min early I want a refund on my 30 mins 😂
My tattoo artist had to cancel appointments for about 2 months. While she wasn't working in the studio she gave the option of drawing up designs for those of us who she had to reschedule so if we wanted to support her during that time we would pay for the design. I paid 20€ because mine was just some flowers and then i paid 160 more at the appointment for a total of 180€.
I don't know how much tattoos are in the US, but I have 3 Tattoos, 2 big ones and 1 small one. The biggest and the smallest one are actually from artists visiting my country so I had the whole consultation via WhatsApp BUT neither them nor the one from my own fellow country man cost me that much money. Actually all 3 together are only about 1700 I think? Like I get it all of them need to make a living but having to pay a deposit that's 850? And it doesn't even go tp the session? Are y'all made of money??????
think my artists all undercharged, but from my experience it is absolutely not normal for the US lol. my two more detailed/bigger ones were around an 1-1.5hr (hard to keep track of time during lol) both b&w, one linework and one filled in, and i think they were 80 and 100. ofc tipped generously, but like that tattoo in the vid is not worth 4000 im sorry. artists def deserve nice compensation, but still, only to the extent of what you're getting. there's another artist that would've been much better to work w and that wouldn't have scammed her an arm and a leg
The fact that what she is doing is completely legal is insane! I know people can charge whatever, but she literally changed the deal this woman already paid for halfway through without talking to her beforehand! That would like if I went to the store to buy beef and the cashier handed me chicken and tried to make me pay the price of doubl the beef and then got mad at me and said I can either pay the original amount and leave with nothing or pay double of the original price and leave with chicken.
Bro, I have my entire thigh from hip to knee done in fine line for $1800 NZD. That is considered very expensive but it took 12hrs over 3 days and is insanely detailed and beautiful. This lady is a scammer.
Do people not research their artists anymore? I feel like nobody does that anymore. ALL of this could’ve been avoided by doing research on your tattoo artist.
So I looked at her work, and it's subpar at best. But if the customer is happy, okay then. The reviews, and her replies, were the same word vomit over and over. Like she handed out bullet points for the reviews. Many glowing reviews appeared to be from customers getting their first tat, as there wasn't a sign of another artist's work. If these folks were to see the work of someone who is talented, they'd cry.
So the tattoo artist spreads this woman’s driver’s license all over social media calling her a criminal, and then throws a defamation lawsuit at HER?
Yeah she ain't seeing a penny of that lmao
Oh the stupid entitlement just came out of her, hard

6k for a tattoo is wild... I have a half sleeve with a full fox and it was literally $400 and it is the most beautiful piece I have on me
The sponsorship hair was GIVING😮💨
omg it has been AGEESSS since the last tattoo gate update! living for this
You’ve been on such a roll with all these uploads😂 I’m surprised that every day I have my daily tea to watch. Remember to take it easy so you don’t burn out 😭
You are single-handedly saving my boredom while im stuck home with covid. thank ya girly pop
This always just blows my mind. I have an insanely intricate large color tattoo that's remarkably well done. It was $800 because it took 8 hours.
Now another scam taking advantage of people who are suffering from losing a loved one; she’s beyond disgusting and I really, really hope she has to pay Ri back every dime she paid plus some for being sued!
I also feel the need to point out that all these prices are in CAD, I can’t even imagine what that looks like in USD
That grey shirt looks so comfy omg
the first red flag was charging $180 let alone ANYTHING for a consultation. i’ll tip on free consultations for their time but ain’t no fkin way you can charge ppl for a consultation. so unprofessional
when I tell you I gasped when I saw the title
I hope a bunch of people reply and they file a multi-person counter suit
this woman is insane and the fact that she now is trying to use religion AND shes suing is crazyyy
all my work totals about 5/6 hours across 8 tattoos each 2-6 inches, they’re different parts of my body and different artists and sessions but all grouped together i’d say they’re comparable to the size of hers, if not bigger. they also vary in detail and such but yeah. total i’ve paid about $1,000 for everything with some being flash deals and some custom. NO WAY is that unfinished piece she got worth $4k
i kinda wanna see some tattoo shops do a little bit where they go around to their artists asking what they would charge for the piece. i’m not an artist and not familiar with all the ins and outs of how they price their work but i’d guess no more than $2k and even that seems to be pushing it
ALSO as far as deposit i’ve paid $50-100 and it’s always gone towards the final price of the tattoo (but typically for the flashes i haven’t done deposits cause they’re walk ins)
Wait.....didn't the tatto artist and all the other artist that shared her information on social media dox her??
That's what I was thinking! I wonder if she could sue her back for doxing her
Let's see if Miss Lindsay Joseph's laywer likes the sound of "She spread my drivers license all over the internet aka. doxxed me and that's highly illegal too".
This artist is delusional.
i can listen to you talk about anything all day
I got a huge Draculaura tattoo that took 5 hours and I paid $500 for it.
I have about 16 tattoos and not once have I been charged a sketching fee. My most expensive tattoo is large a rib tattoo that costed 600 euros.
I love your thoughts on gatekeeping religion, lol! As a religious person, this is something I struggle with since many of the people in the spaces I’m in are very welcoming even to the most hateful kinds of people. I don’t know where to draw the line, but I don’t think they know either. Thanks for helping me reflect on this!
I'm absolutely floored by how insane these prices are
This is for engagement ✨
Watching this video while getting tattooed for the ambience
In the 20 years I have been getting tattooed I have NEVER been charged for a design OR a consultation.
✨️engagement for our girly✨️
ALL the tattoo artists who shared her license should be charged with something.
youre looking so good lately omgggggggg🙇🏻♀️
my entire half sleeve that took collectively 8+ hours to do only cost me $600. that includes tip. two portraits & flowers. ive been getting tattooed for almost 15 years now at many different shops and have NEVER seen artist charge like that.
imagine charging for a CONCEPT SKETCH??? As a tattoo artist myself, that just seems so icky. unless its like a full body or HUUGE tattoo, im not charging to draw??? thats literally the job before getting paid. and to copy??? for 1500?? hell no. greed is so disgusting.
the fact she’s suing the clients and the clients aren’t the ones suing her blows my mind. her work looks like shit to be completely honest and she has no morals when it comes to what she’s charging
got a big ass tattoo on my right upper arm and it’s a gorgeous piece of work that is in colour and took 5 hours from a great tattoo artist. it was like $800 aud including my deposit like??
yeah i’m leaving the shop before i ever pay that amount lol. call the cops. also would just NEVER pay $850 for a deposit. i don’t blame the clients but y’all need to do more research.
6:45 im pretty sure it was etsy, actually, which is even worse.
the way the better business bureau has several complaints against her … LOL
wow.. what terrible business practices, hope she never works again
Who is the artist?
@@mellowguts Can't remember her name for the life of me and first time around I had to dig to find her because all her social media was blocked or privated. She does do pretty work, but her business model sucks for the client.
Ive never paid more than £80 per hour for a tattoo! $1900 for a single day is insanity, not even the most talented tattoo artist would charge something so ludicrous!!
Tatooer soley closed her business down as a legal move in the lawsuit. She will argue that the tiktoker caused so much damaged to her business ultimately causing it to close down! She will say that she is not a money hungry scammer because she's tattoo people for free, money hungry scammers wouldn't work for free. She's calculating things towards her lawsuit.
The gatekeep rant is sending me 😭😭😭
Some tattoos are worth thousands…… that tattoo is NOT worth anywhere close to that. That looks worse than the one on my arm that I paid like 700$ for…. For two sessions. 😂
Now I need to go back and watch the old one
I mean this in the most respectful way: Imagine having to pay $4,000+ on a tattoo and having to be reminded of that experience every time she looks at her shoulder.?Ugh what a terrible situation
Thousands of dollars for a tattoo is OBSCENE. most day sittings in the UK are like 400-600 quid 🤮🤮🤮
No chance of it going up to 4.5k for something like this
catching up on last week’s videos and damn here’s a new one!
your hair looks so good!!
Commenting for engagement ✨
girl you’ve been on a ROLL with these uploads lately
Also, did she even say the tattoo artist's name in the original videos? Defamation?! More like self report.
-tattoo artist
oh god not tattoo gate again …
Is her lawyer jeanette braun 🤣🤣🤣🤣
wow this poor woman...this tattoo artist is a scam! that sketch they sent is literally just traced! wow....
She def has a counter suit. If it’s not true then why did she collect so much money and spread the drivers license around.
That ex tattoo artist sounds like she’s out to lunch and a narcissist
“You’re being too nice”
They’re religious, that’s the point 😭😭
Bro, I have my entire thigh from hip to knee done in fine line for $1800 NZD. That is considered very expensive but it took 12hrs over 3 days and is insanely detailed and beautiful. This lady is a scammer.
Just commenting for the algorithm 💚
Do people not research their artists anymore? I feel like nobody does that anymore. ALL of this could’ve been avoided by doing research on your tattoo artist.
So I looked at her work, and it's subpar at best. But if the customer is happy, okay then.
The reviews, and her replies, were the same word vomit over and over. Like she handed out bullet points for the reviews. Many glowing reviews appeared to be from customers getting their first tat, as there wasn't a sign of another artist's work.
If these folks were to see the work of someone who is talented, they'd cry.
