As a microbiologist Im so tired of the re-formulations for “clean” beauty… please give me back preservatives 😭😭
When I see ‘clean’ beauty I immediately think the products are going to go bad before I can use them. I just don’t buy it bc I don’t trust it.
PLEASE it’s rebranded planned obsolescence lmao
I’m an immunologist and I’m sick of the word “inflammatory” being used in marketing for any and all snake oil wellness products as just a blanket “black box” term. Inflammation is a well known and studied process 😅
SAME. Im a lab rat myself, I went through the clean beauty craze in college years ago and realized sometimes things are in products for a reason that you don’t understand until too late 😂 Looking at you curly girl method
Yes! Im a biochem major and I can’t stand the vilification of preservatives and “chemicals,” as if our entire existence isn’t made up of chemicals. The lack of STEM education in the US especially is so concerning.
so crazy how just being a millennial is considered cringe. like women can even age without being hated for it💀
THAT PART!
Nothing new under the sun
That’s where it pays to be a Xennial. No one remembers we exists, kind of like our childhood.
@@samesta5695dw, I remember y’all
Period ahh Period uhh👏🏼❤️ PREACH!
“Men don’t cancel men the same way women cancel other women” HOLY SHI- THE LIBRARY IS OPEN……. THAT WAS SUCH A GOOD QUOTE
glossier used to be such a cool IT girl brand i remember being so obsessed with it but their fall off is soooo interesting to see ( but they still have a cult following specially on reddit)
im actually so mad i finally bought myself a new cloud paint from sephora and it just sucks :( its sheer and it like hollows out in the middle. even though its increased $6 in price since i last bought it 😒
I feel like they really just lost sight of their original intent and ethos. They went from “we’re for the effortlessly cool girls” to “you’ll buy it because it’s pink and we made it”
@@madisonalexander870 i used to love their stuff now it just collects dust
@@kairos-049 it used to be an experience buying from them back the
The Glossier subreddit is bonkers! They post copious pics of their “hauls” (mostly just Balm Dot Com) and will pay sky high prices for the limited edition merch like those keychains. It’s kinda sad.
I love that you brought up the counterfeit/dupe issue because this is something that has been bothering me recently. I see so many people selling for example lululemon “dupes” with the actual lululemon logo and that’s a knockoff not a dupe!! A dupe is finding a product that looks/performs similar at lower price point but clearly shows it was made by a different brand - if you are copying the logo that is counterfeit
I feel the same way when small makeup brands create their "dupes" of lip glosses (feels illegal imo even though there's no logos or slogans involved) although it is entertaining watching them create a similar shade
@@pomegranateoatsbut that’s the entire point. they don’t put the logo of the brand and they’re not pretending it’s the famous brand’s product. that makes it a dupe and not a fake
I’m an elder millennial and OG Glossier lover. So agree with Angelika’s that it’s been sad watching the brand reformulate and make weird business decisions.
agree, ngl they coulda just pulled a brandy melville (though not as problematic as they are) and just held onto their original branding, they wouldve kept their original cult following AND attracted a younger audience now that y2k and clean girl has been trending, they absolutely wouldve had their comeback if they didnt switch everything up and reformulated for no reason
The only thing worth going back to glossier for is the lip products and the cloud paints, everything else can get the boot I fear, the only reason why ppl were so into glossier in the first place was bc the clean girl aesthetic/no makeup makeup look was hot, and bc there weren’t that many brands tapping into that specific niche, now we have a bunch of brands doing it and doing it better
I LOVE Puff in the cloud paints but like, even now it seems like it just... fades away no matter how much I use, the boy brow flakes like crazy, and the skincare was just doing NOTHING for me. I am still obsessed with the perfume though.
Once a company reformulates something, they have lost my trust, and I drop them. Same with discontinuations.
Perfume companies do this the most . Then you can’t find anything similar to your fave perfume . I hate them so much when they do this
See, glossier packaging and aesthetic always drew me in, because I love the simple pink. but as a bold colorful girl I was always disappointed by what was behind the packaging
As a full glam girl, my best friend/ cousin was always way more into simple. When the brand came out, she was so excited for it because she finally felt like she didn’t have to 2016 her eyebrows every morning even though it was already 2018 😭😭 it does also help that we were freshmen in high school so a lot of the soft pin is and corals really appealed to our age range
I was 18 in 2018, I felt the same way! I want a cloud paint so baddd I’ve never bitten the bullet on it but beam is the one I’ve been wanting for years. now I’m so sad that puff isn’t that beautiful baby pink anymore. I totally would have gotten that one now if it was still that way! Also maybe it’s just me but I still love the pink aesthetic lol. It calls to me. I feel like I should try the cloud paints before they decide to ruin those more. PS your comment is so cute and sweet! Love from a fellow full glam girl ❤❤❤
I thought this comment was so sweet, too!! ☺️ It’s the “we have different tastes but we still gas each other up!” Refreshing.
I bought my glossier haul in 2020-ish, and never bought it again because i ended up experimenting with makeup in general then (got glossier influenced by you actually!) loved everything, now i know i got all the 'old' formulas. Kinda glad I got it when I did, the drama totally missed me lol!
i love the long form videos!! Please keep doing these ❤

I honestly completely forgot about those!!!
Im so excited for the new one!

Sol de Janeiro will be next…
Agree! The hype has to come down at some point.
i think people will still buy from them but they just wont be talked about as much
Did they do anything bad though? Or do people just get bored with anything over-hyped? I thought the spider attractant fragrance was just a silly rumor.
Fragrance isn't the same as makeup, though. It's much more timeless as once someone likes a scent - they often like that scent for life.
As long as they keep releasing fragrances that smell good - people will continue to buy them. The only way they can mess up is:
1. They start releasing a bunch of fragrances people don't like.
2. They start making a bunch of social no-nos and get canceled
3. Their quality decreases/poorly reformulate their products
I don’t get the hype they have them in boots . They smell to me like cheap body sprays teenagers wear
Out of the gloss gave me pause with supporting the brand, but when the first iteration of solar paints came out, I think that’s when I really lost interest in their creative direction. Granted I’m between a medium shade to the lighter end of tan in most foundation ranges, depending on season, so there was a shade for me, but the fact that their darkest shade looked like a blush on the model and they were brazenly calling it a bronzer on her. No thanks. They had the budget to develop more shades or at the very least a better range, and this product made it all the way to their store page without someone saying “hey, this isn’t okay”
I remember just how hot glossier was when they came out. It was the products you had if you were what kids call “that girl”. I had acne back then and hated how I looked so I didn’t love it back then but it was like a club I couldn’t get into. Now I confess the skin tint is all I wear on the daily because my skin is so much nicer and it gives me a effortless glass skin effect, and bought their lip balms recently because they brought back the old formula but thats all I actually like from them.
I left a bad review for the kosas concealer because it made my under eye concealer SO patchy but then i realized it was an eye cream that i was using that was the culprit LOL i felt so bad lowkey like theyll be fine but... oopsies
I wish I could keep using mine because I loved the formula but it makes my under eyes break out 😢
@@krisbreeze6324what is it with under eye products breaking me out??? I don’t know I COULD break out in that area like wtf???
fun (not much) fact: I tried ordering some Kosas, but the shipping fee to my country was $202. I live in Brazil, so that's over R$1000. I cried a little
honestly Kosas isn't worth it, all of the products I have from them either went bad/expired super fast, or they're super generic and I can find them for much cheaper by using products from maybelline or elf. you're just paying for packaging and the brand name imo
Yeah no lmao. No makeup brand is worth that amount of money in shipping. Especially not one with such (imo) basic makeup. Much better and cheaper brands out there. Elf has never done me wrong.
@@IAmTwiggs yeah! we have some amazing national brands here that are approachable and offer free shipping. I love some basic makeup, but not for that much money lol with just the shipping cost I can buy a really nice full makeup routine with mid-range products
@@vunne9110 I hate when they go bad quickly because I take a while with products, but gladly we have maybelline here! and some other really affordable national brands
The ONLY product I tell people about that belongs to kosas is their plumping wet oil, I’ve re bought it 3 times , but everything else I’ve tried, meh , very mids
Maybe this is bc im a zillenial, but the best thing about Glossier to me is the packaging and the aesthetic. I love the stores, I love the pink, the simplicity, all of it. The product itself I could take or leave and usually dont mind but can find a dupe pretty easily
Your thumbnail face was mine when I read that title. I would’ve never expected this from you as their no1 fan
You are doing so much amazing work and content babes❤Love it! You better be so proud of yourself, always💕
thank you 😭🩷
I loved Glossier, back in 2016? I am a mature gal but have lived the brown mascara, cloud paint, skin care, brow gel in auburn , and The perfume, & totes & candles !!! I do see reformulated stuff I don’t like . Glad the lip balm is back, and so happy you made this video ! You’re a smart woman who is intuitive and compassionate ! Thx 🌸🌸
loving the longer format videos !!
Clean beauty is so unregulated it’s almost up for interpretation. I hope that changes soon. Your makeup looks beautiful Hun. Xx
I hold a longstanding grudge against Glossier for discontinuing their Bubble Wrap serum. The utter disrespect
Their eye cream relaunch is very similar in texture imo but it’s not lip safe :(
ngl i’m still a glossier lover 💀 but i only use the skincare and foundation/ concealer lol
I always use their face wash, body wash, and concealer! I just don’t find anything else that is as good!
I missed these kinds of videos. Super fun to get ready to in the morning ❤
never been this early 🫶🏽 love a long angelika video!
Yaaaay, I was literally just hoping for a video from you ❤❤
another great long video 🥰💞 ty Angelika!

If a product suddenly looks different, the brand is t necessarily “lying” by saying they did not change it. Glossier’s uses a contract manufacturer to produce their product and there are a million things that have to stay the same in order to maintain a color. Ingredients, for one thing, need to be consistent, and there are a lot of them. Lately especially, ingredients suppliers either change their source or the could be an entire ingredient ban, which means you have to find a substitute. The CM may have found a substitute that caused the color to shift or be difficult to hit or maintain in the batch. There may be work behind the scenes to correct that- making makeup is complex and an entire world influencers don’t know about.
I've never tried their eyeshadows but it always bothered me that they only out 3 shades in the container when there's very clearly space for 4. Empty/wasted space in palettes always bothers me so much. 😅
I work at Sephora and every time I pass glossier and see them I’m like “…stupid” 🤣
I actually really liked glossier play 😭 i still have two of the clicky lip gloss pens
I loved the eye pencils ❤
I really loved the glossier play brand/collection didn't realize I was in the minority
I was so sad they discontinued the eye pencils. They had this maroon brown color that was so pretty.
I'm unsure if it relates to the lack of preservatives or just the gloomy British weather. A lot of my "newer" pressed powder products (eyeshadows, blushes) are getting mouldy. While my ancient KVD Shade + Light pallette is still going strong and mould free .....
Wow! Thanks! I have never tried Glossier but this was very informative. The brand doesn’t match my style but I love hearing about behind the scenes and how it affects beauty culture as a whole. Love your videos, always! ❤
I always get compliments when I use their You Perfume. I won’t be repurchasing anything from the however, due to their business practices.
I saved this for today as I’m painting my room
i def love the long videos
I just rebought the you perfume last week and compared it to the one i bought back in 2021, it seems the same to me!
I am wondering if it simply smells different on people as THEIR chemistry changed as they aged? Things that used to be my faves just don’t work for me 20 years on.
I love the glossier foundation as someone that hasn’t tried anything else from the brand and I see why the og fans don’t love it as it has more coverage than what the brand is known for
Yes the foundation is so good! I do not usually like foundation but it’s really good for me!
I love their foundation too! Esp as a deeper girlie (I wear deep 1 and it's a perfect match with the more perimeter of my face) and before that skin tint didn't really work on me for the coverage I wanted. So it's shocking to hear it's hated like it's the perfect little lighter weight foundation
Emily will always be the mean intern from The Hills to me lol
I never realized she was the creator of glossier! Ick! I remember so disliking her because I loved LC lol.
@@eddybarker7760 I just learned it a few months ago and I was like "whaaaat" lol
This is my favorite video of yours lately I loveee how the blush came out ❤ your makeup always slays. while I haven’t tried glossier yet, I’ve always wanted a cloud paint or two. (BEAM omg. Puff was the other one I wanted) & I didn’t realize they had that bronzer, I only remembered the weird ones?! Your bronzer came out so beautifully dude. But holy shit I didn’t know there were this many issues with them 😂 thank you for teaching me about this brand, I’m in beauty school to be a MUA and esthi so I’ll take any of the brand knowledge I can get. Appreciate how in depth you go and how real you keep it while still sharing the love of the things you do enjoy and have thoroughly emptied. I’m so sad I never got to try that bubblegum pink version of puff. If history will repeat itself mayyybe it’ll randomly come back to the original tone? Lmao, if it does I wanna try it. Haven’t tried Saie yet either, that other blush looks stunning too. Loved hearing about the products you’ve finished up btw, that’s always so cool seeing what people (esp in other parts of the world) actually genuinely use in their day to day !
I dont really wear makeup but the glossier invisible shield daily sunscreen is a STAPLLLE of my routine I literally use it every day idk what I'd do without it! 😂
I used to use that but switched to something cheaper. I swear my whole body burned once except my face and i was wearing sunscreen everywhere but using that one on my face only.
Am i the only one thats not her getting notifications. Didn’t even know she posted up.
Them reformulating everything is what put me off them completely. Especially Glossier You 😔 that one HURT 😔

Love this video , I commented but I think it was deleted . I loved the old 2016!G products, perfume, candles , brow gels , lip products . Their reformulations are not great, but there are old balms back now and good CS ONLINE FOR ME ! Thx🌸🌸
Ive never been so early! hey bestie❤

Vapour has THE BEST cool toned pink blush!
Haven’t watched yet but they just opened a new store and the opening had a line wrapped around the corner
I feel crazy bc I never liked the first bronzer they brought out, it went so patchy on me! So many people I trust swear by it
never got on to the glossier hype they took too long offer shipping to my country
Don't mind me, just commenting for the algorithm
I love their concealer, foundation, body wash, face wash, and perfume!
Not me coming for the girl boss/brand discourse, and spotting the excellent shelfie game! 😂Love so many of the authors up there!
I used to love the balm from glossier, then they reformulated the balm and made it dry out my lips and now they have brought back the "OG formula" and I have two different flavours and they all separated and they way that they changed the system for the concealer and foundation is confusing and I hate it and I've never bothered to repurchase it because I don't want to get the wrong shade
and now, glossier is finally stocking in Australian stores, about 8 years too late!
I enjoyed this video
Idk if this contributes but as someone who lives in Australia they just..never expanded. Even if I wanted to buy their products I literally cant lol. I always found it really odd that they didn't expand, though it kinda just is a microcosm of how they just haven't elevated the brand or kept up I guess?
ive loved glossier for years (still have some of the OG sticker sheets!!) but they have definitely changed a LOT of the formulas. i love lidstar, i have crinkly eyelids so i love a good liquid shadow, but in the last year or two the formula has gotten so bad. it makes my eyelids burn slightly, has no pigment and becomes cakey in like an hour. really disappointing that they keep doing this! i still love the perfume, wowder & the concealer but im definitely not as much of a glossier girl as i used to be😞
I just wanted to comment and say how amazing your eyelashes are, they are so long 😊 💜💜 even before any mascara 😁💜
thank you 🫶🏻
I can't believe I don't own any of their products 😕!! How did that happen 😳 ❤
As someone who didnt keep up with the controversies, i just stopped buying when i could tell something about the products changed, the formulas on a lot if things were not as good. But seeing this it makes sense. Hopefully they can go back to some og formulas and come out with some new refreshing things. I will say the rose scent lip products were terrible for me and o loved the formula so i got over it 😂
Just curious do you ever do colors for eyeshadow?
Wow! Not me getting a massive anaphylactic reaction to the NEW release of the “original” balm dot calm balms… into the trash they go 😢
I would have tried glossier but unfortunately they're on thr boycott list
Oh really?! I hadn’t seen this! Thanks for flagging ❤
@@problem.skinnn no problem ❤️❤️❤️
Are you saying Saint? If yes, I believe they are a super problematic mlm.
I was saying Saie
Maybe I should try the wowder… sounds like something I’d be all over
Also my mom likes the new formula of you more than the older one
Im a millennial, im in my 30s, when I was around 28-29 high coverage foundation started to look like sh*t on me. Almost overnight, my favorite foundation would look horrible on me. The stretch concealer is a SAVIOR!! Never used the tint but I was dying to try it. I get Glossier not being gen z’s cup of tea, they should stick to millennials, just like Elizabeth Arden and Lancome seem to stick to gen X or boomers
So if ANYONE has a dupe for the stretch concealer or the skin tint please let me know
funny enough, puff's reformulation to be warmer is actually closer to the hue of "millennial pink" in the first place. but obv thats not the point coz the pink that's CURRENTLY trending is the cool bubblegum it was originally 💀
this video is so facts.
glossier is only JUST coming to Australian stores this year, after all the hype is gone
Dang, used to love glossier's cloud paint- the creamy-light texture of their concealor was just different from the full coverage stuff everywhere else
Just commenting for the algorithm 🖤🤎💜
bring cherry back please 😭
7:26 well said Angelika.
Women really are their own worst enemy. Us men don’t give a toss what other men do. Women care about every little thing what another women does.
It’s bizarre but also amusing.
P.s in before the “you have a female in your profile pic” etc. yes, that’s serena vanderwoodsen. My fave character from gossip girl, lol.
That Glossier book was so boring. It really could have been a longish article on some site and it still would have been needless. I felt like the author was trying really hard to find dirt on Emily Weiss and there really isn’t any because she’s private about her personal life. Even that was framed as being shady. People are allowed to not share every aspect of their life. And yeah, the celebration of “downfall” is deeply rooted in misogyny.
I think Emily lost the plot as she was weirdly focused on Glossier being a tech brand, but she’s not the first CEO to make weird/bad choices. The fact that she stepped down shows she has self awareness and probably isn’t the monster so many people want her to be.
I’m early to a vid for once haha
hello 🫶🏻
Woo
I'm actually like super surprised that you haven't been super vocal about Palestine
My friend got me this glossier limited edition cookie butter lip balm and it was SOO GOOD and I LOST it and was so distraught that I bought lots of other lip balms from different companies. Turns out I just like buttery af lip balms in those tubes.... 🫠
That’s my fave balm of theirs
I got the hot cocoa, it's so good I don't want it to end and I wish I got the cookie butter too!
I don't care if their branding is considered cringe, the products work for me. I do not want to go through the process of finding new moisturizer, vit c, glycolic acid, etc etc that works as good for my face
love ur take on successful women.
as far as glossier products go: I have the giant new you perfume & still love it! it lasts and smells great. I went thru 3 bottles of the og. in regards to the gen g lipsticks, this is famously NOT the first time they have reformulated or changed the packaging or them. real ones know the og og gen g lipsticks & packaging were superior 😭 the new ones are good still and still my fav lipsticks (besides charlotte tilbury very victoria) of all time (especially fuzz & leo 🫶🏻)
I LOVED glossier but could never get my parents to buy it for me, last year i got my first products 🥲✌️
