I remember this roller coaster! I went to disneyland in 2007 when I was 8 years old. This rollercoaster was the very first rollercoaster I ever road. Because I have had a fear of rollercoasters and my family and my cousin who has been there several times reassured me the ride didn't go upside down. So I was brave and went on it. I loved it. I still won't go on those extreme rollercoasters at age 24 but ones like these are great
@@nicgaming2133 trust me when I say this, if I can ride it, you can ride it. It's not scary at all. I remember it being the most mildest of disney rollar coasters back when I was a kid. I am also terrified of rollarcoasters too but this one I really enjoyed.
Just went last week and while this is my favorite ride of all time, had to check other 2021 videos to see if the final climb explosion effects (fire/smoke) weren't working -- looks like they're not. Hope they fix that soon cuz cuz it's so cool to see!
When I was 4 in 1985 I was too scared to ride the Matterhorn, but I rode Big Thunder Mountain no problem. My 71 year old grandma (at the time) also rode Big Thunder Mountain, haha.

@@nicgaming2133 Disneyland only has one roller coaster with a loop which is the Incredicoaster. Big thunder mountain is the type of coaster for people who are not a fan of coasters

Considering what you listed, I would say to avoid the ride altogether if you don’t enjoy rollercoasters. I think I rode this ride when I was around 8? If you’re feeling it, I definitely recommend. Still my favorite ride to this day
When I first went to Disney World as a kid in 1997 (about your age), I was super afraid of roller coasters. On the last day of our trip, I finally decided to go on Big Thunder Mountain. I ended up loving it so much, I went on it 3 more times with my mom and we had a blast. I think if you've never been on a coaster before and you're feeling good, you should try Big Thunder because it does a good job at being exciting and fun instead of scary. I think what helps is that the track for Big Thunder is always on the ground so you never feel like you're super high up in the air -- Big Thunder is supposed to feel like riding a fast and crazy gold mining train! Big Thunder doesn't have any big drops -- only a few small dips -- I think that's why I liked it as a kid and still love it now -- I never get that falling feeling that makes your stomach sick while riding Big Thunder. It has tight turns that make you feel like you're going a lot faster than you really are, and that's what makes it more exciting than scary. I just went to Disneyland last week with some friends, one who doesn't like coasters and another who is afraid of heights, and both of them loved it so much we went on it twice that day! I still don't like big roller coasters like the IncrediCoaster though, and that's OK. If you go on Big Thunder and you end up enjoying it, I'd recommend also trying out the Matterhorn Bobsleds too. It's pretty similar to Big Thunder! But you should probably avoid Splash Mountain and Space Mountain. Space Mountain doesn't have big drops or anything either, but it being in the dark is what can make it a biiiiit to much for first-timers. Hope you enjoy your trip either way! Going in 2021 is so worth it with such short wait times!

@@rubywong402 I left Disneyland today, you're gonna like big thunder. Splash mountain isnt that extreme except for a few drops and a big drop at the end. If you go to California adventure too, go to the cars ride.
Last time I went on this ride was 1996..Im a chicken to go on it at age 35! Ahaha. Dumbo ride scares me because of the heights lol. Im terrified of heights. I went last weekend.

I noticed that too, i also noticed on Indiana Jones clips from 2021 the bottom level is missing the smoke\haze on top of the lava.
They haven’t shot out smoke/fire in a long time unfortunately. They changed it so that it’s all projections now

I had the exact same experience. Hated Matterhorn, loved this. I love them both now but kind of funny how I used to be scared of Matterhorn

I remember long ago when I went on the ride there was audio where the Engineer sounds like he fell off and yelled after the train as it raced away.
