Nice ranking Sven, I saw Romulus earlier this week and thought it was in my top 3 but now you've encouraged me to rewatch Prometheus again. - I remember enjoying it and appreciating Shaw as a great protagonist so I will definitely give it another chance. Would you consider doing a ranking of the 20th Century Fox Alien anthology shorts they released for the 40th anniversary? All 6 are only around 10 mins each (available on youtube) and I would love to hear your thoughts on which ones you felt best captured that Alien magic and which ones fell short for you. :)
I agree that Alien 3 is only a 1/10 as a sequel in the franchise, but if you watch it just as a standalone movie, there are too many quality filmmaking aspects to give it less than about a 6 - great cinematography, powerful acting from Sigourney, Charles Dance, Ralph Brown and Charles S. Dutton, the best score of the franchise, the xenomorph is a terrifying, unstoppable monster again like the 1st one, a unique European nihilistic tone (very unique and rare for a studio movie), mature themes of fate and death explored and a conclusive finale that avoids any sequel bait, allowing it to work pretty well as a standalone film if you want it to.
The second is the very best one,
