The scene about the 20 dollars has been a big part of my life, ive used it as a test many many times and it's never failed me. Had a similar experience when I won a large chunk of money on the lottery. While waiting for payment to come through, I did the same thing, asked several people to borrow monet without telling them about the lottery payment coming. It saved me alot of headaches, you can't imagine the people who come out of the gutters when they hear you won some money and it wasn't even alot of money less 10 grand. I had friends parent calling with sob stories asking for money, it was so sad. I had a few people get mad saying that it's not like I worked hard for the money and why was I being so unfair to them and not giving them any. Crazy crazy crazy. I almost wish everyone could have a similar experience, it hurts,but it really exposes your real friends.

Lol I won 6 grand on a penny machine at the casino one time and the same shit happened to me. I was young at the time, I think 19. I gave away the majority of that money. 2500 went to mother and siblings, I bought my best friend a brand new PS3.. I also gave my buddy 1000 dollars. He had gifted me 1000 months earlier when he turned 18 and got several hundred thousand dollars (potowatomi money). He didn't expect me to pay him back. But I had the ability to so I did.

I Definitely can relate. Never Lend friends money or do business with family members.
The movie has so many good quotes and mottos, when I was 10 years old I saw it with my dad, and I’m 34 now and still watch it, and live by it ,
The part where Robert deniro says
“It don’t take much strength to pull a trigger , let’s see if he can get up everyday and go work for a living” then we’ll see who the real man is, the working man’s a tuff guy,
Then C says “I don’t understand” and the dad says you will when you get older that shit hits, man that movies a gem

Bronx tale is a classic and based on truth. Chaz is a great storyteller
I like Michael Francese's take on love vs fear: fear only works until they fear something else more which is why so many guys turn rat but it's a lot less common to give up those you love no matter what they threaten you with.
The working class man thing is my favorite part. His dad In that movie was such a good dad, and even didn’t hold a grudge against sonny, even after he died
that's the definition of racism though = how can hard work have meaning when you don't want everyone to work + you don't want everyone to enjoy the fruits of their labour = this has ALWAYS been a crock of s***, since the MOB, by definition, DOES NOT want to do a hard days work, in any way, shape or form + the civilians who live in their neighbourhoods are fine with them, as long as they don't hurt them or hurt their businesses = the second they benefit from crime, they mind changes instantly, so this entire movie is a fallacy, at best
@@DaFactsNoNonsense1713 The DeNiro character had no choice but to work [drive the bus] to support his family if he wanted to NOT earn money from mob involvement. He had no control over what the Palminteri character did beyond that. The only racist thing DeNiro's character said was that he didn't think blacks and whites should date or marry. Never said black people shouldn't have good jobs and places to live. So it goes back to what @kyledodson2992 said about DeNiro's character being a good father.

It also happened in Good Will Hunting that someone wrote the story as an unknown starred in it and it became a hit. Damon and Affleck actually wrote the script together.

They should have just let Chaz continue with his lines from the movie instead of continually interrupting, totally killed the magic of what he was trying to recreate.
Too many people have to hear themselves talk. Patrick is horrible about that. He constantly interrupts people instead of waiting until they’ve made their point to contradict them.

This concept of 'availability,' is brilliant and very true. I know that even people who are business owners....so many times, they do well, being available all the time to their staff and their customers, but when they get bigger , at times they do ' absentee management,' and it all falls apart. For morale sake and to keep the 'train on the tracks,' you have to be there, to be tough and be kind.
Really true. I've seen so many owners absent entirely, or basically absent while present, chatting on the phone, taking crazy-long lunches, making themselves unavailable, etc. Just checking out of their business life.

One of my favorite movies. The scene that stuck with me the most, was when Sonny was talking to "C" about Mickey Mantel. It just validated a long held belief I had.
Even at a young age, I never believed in the concept of role models or idolizing the famous. Always understood that everyone is flawed and that people are selfish by nature.

Yes, it is also first Commandment: “you shall have no other gods before me.” We put our trust in Jesus. That’s it! And our life will improve.
People aren’t that selfish in nature. If someone feels he has something to protect then yes. If someone actually feels safe and taken care of and secure in life then that preserving, protective, selfish tendencies aren’t as pronounced. I would argue people are more selfless under the right conditions. It’s not biologically ingrained. It is a matter of sociological factors.

Love that scene….the lesson as I took it: “Be nice, until it’s time not to be nice”. Then go straight after the leader.
I applied the availability concept with running my crew in my first ever management position. This lead to me running for #1 store in the company for almost 3 years. Keep your crew happy and the product will sell itself.
I know alot of people grip about Adam, I think he adds value to the show. One thing I don't think he realizes he constantly does is ask questions, then cut off the guest or tries to answer for them. Let the guests finish please

One of the greatest films ever made. The best character in it? Eddie Mush! He was a real life guy, a degenerate gambler. Palminteri tells amazing stories about him. He sadly died, and on the day of his funeral, they bring the coffin out, and the Hearse had a flat tyre.🤣
