The one thing missing in this video is the part where you take needle and thread and stitch the point on the zipper you do not want to go beyond. This will stop the zipper from going beyond that point so that it does not end up coming off track again. This is a great quick fix!
I am a crazy thrift store shopper and when I come across pants that have a broken zipper I just move along, not anymore!! I bought a pair the other day without realizing the zipper was broke!! Sooooo happy!! Fixed and ready to wear. Thanks to you and Pat!!!

It’s Christmas Eve and I’m planning my outfit and bam! My zipper on my fav jeans comes off the track! I did this and it worked!!!! Thank you so much for positing this video!! Also, to prevent the thing from sliding out again, I just secured about two teeth above the snip with a safety pin, horizontally, to stop me from going down that far. I’ll sew it later.
Very good solution! I just repaired my pants zipper a few moments ago. Don't make the cut too large, just enough so that there is room for the zipper to be pulled up (use the very tips of your scissors, take your time), and reinforce the stop by sewing around it a couple times. The good news is, even if the sewn stops happens to unravel or doesn't work, you can always go back and zip the pull and re-sew the stop.

Yeah but you also have to tack the bottom part where you cut or it will split open there.
