I like seeing people put things back to life rather than let it rust away, old stuff is built better . I'm a furniture builder and repair shop in Michigan.
Yeah, I like the old crap also. Sometimes, even too much. I hope that I'm not gonna start collecting it too much, so I can't handle that. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice machine. Try spraying (or brushing) the whole sawmill with a mixture of diesel/oil at about 60 to 40 ratio. That will stop the metal from rusting further and preserve the rustic characteristics of the sawmill. The 'diesoil' coating gives the remaining paint a deep lustrous pop. If you go thru all the metal surfaces with a powered wire brush to remove the flakey rust and paint, you will stop the oxidation in its tracks. That mixture also works good as a flush for mucky tanks, hydraulic lines, crankcases, gear-boxes, differential cases, etc. You can use it as a power-washer cleaner with an air blow gun that has an inline vacuum hose on it that will suck up the mixture from a hand-held container. I put a gate valve where the suction line goes into the blow gun to regulate how much mixture it picks up. Besides the diesoil mixture, a solvent or soapy water, followed by a water rinse can be used to degrease a metal surface and to prep it for a quick, paint make-over when out in the field or without access to a power washer.
So much thick Steel! Hydrolic fluid right in the face. Great job. ❤❤❤ The blade cutting the wood reminds me of the harmonica in Once Upon a Time in the West.
You do nice work... And talented !! I have a 1998 laimet 100, built a live deck for m'y lumber and for logs. Turned the sawmill with a valtra for 20 years and now i installed a john deere diesel motor with a gear box and twin disc clucth,I guess laimet factory is closed now... Greatings from Qc.Canada !!
Big fan of time lapse and the hammering away at your C-Channel ends was really cool. You should take each piece of that sawmill apart and sandblast them prime and repaint. The whole frame included. I love junk to gem videos. Camera placed in absolute worst spot for first mill cuts. How about on top of tractor cab.
Thanks! I wanna do this one day. I just needed to get this thing running first and see if it's worth painting. I have more milling videos with this sawmill with different view angles if you are interested. Thanks for commenting! Cheers!
In addition to getting the teeth set right, some of those circular saw setups had " dish" to them like a very flat very wide cone. I cant remember if that is to prevent rhe trailing edge of tbe blade from scrubbing on the cant log, or if it helps with harmonic wobble, they did it on a bunch of old wagon wheels too, so im confident it serves some purpose, since it is a big old hassle to make a perfect dish shape like that, vs just a flat disc.
Correct, it's put tension in that blade and prevents wobbling. The speed and heat turning the cut causes the rim area to expand more than the inner section near the collar.
Copperslip or grease would be better for those axles. Wd40 will evaporate over time. Its release fluid not lube really. I always reassembled machinery with copperslip, there is nothing better when you have to strip it down again
@@AFHProjects thanks for the reply I REALLY enjoyed watching you methodically restore this mill I’m the same way I get engrossed with my projects and have to remind myself that I have to do my regular money making work and to come back later and continue working on the project later 🙏🏼🤙🏼Thanks again!!
I didn't. That's why I tried to be gentle , but I still got it right in the eye. 😅 I just wanted to try out to see if it's even worth it to change the hoses.

When you battle entropy, you have chosen the mightiest of foes.

Good for you on getting new life into the old mill. Thanks for sharing.

Felicitaciones por el vídeo del aserradero.
Solo faltó pintarlo y parecería nuevo
Muy entretenido.

These are old images. The work was carried out 2 years ago 🤔, which doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s a beautiful video. 👍

I use a 44 inch. Diam.blade with inserted saw bits.
1000 rpm.
Nice! I use the same rpms with my 40-inch blade.

Yes, i use it for releasing stuff, not actually for creasing.
should be adjustment slots on saw shaft to align with the table travel?
Yes, there are.
💪💙👍
Is this another sawmill? Or is it just a recycled video from the original restoration??
It's the same old sawmill. Recycled video, made from several videos into one and more compressed version.
