      End of the Europa land - End Land. Say it quick many times: End Land End Land End Land... enland - England. En land - for easy speaking. That what is England - End Land. Oh, and Englund = England. For words and languages such changes is not critical.

    Blackstar "Response" knob is a tube emulator. Its a brilliant feature and never seems to be discussed in reviews.
    Each tube setting is like a custom overdrive pedal! Each tube has a distinct character, such as saturation (or lack off),
    and they have their own tonal EQ curve etc. EL84's have a chimy clean and super saturation, EL34's light on bass focused mids
    and crunchy saturation. The 6V6 have that Fender Deluxe Reverb tonal sound and a lighter breakup (bluesy type), 6L6 are super
    clean and have lots of low end, used for that Fender clean sound or with high gain settings for New Metal styles of music.
    Kt88 have a thick full midrange and low mids and are great for Strats with single coils. So change tubes to get different
    overdrive break up and tonal EQ curve. Knowing about tubes helps. Throw a tube screamer or other drive pedal on the front to
    boost the amp (Katana has built on overdrive pedals for added boost). Also the amp responds well to pick attack, play light
    and it cleans up, pick hard and it breaks up more (very tube like).

      My guess is Variable slope resistor. Fender value on the 5f6a bassman was 56k. Marshall value on the JTM's was 33k. So basically a 25k pot added in. I think the 'Sweep' knob on the Krank Revolution was the same as well.

    • @riffsnreviews

    Well no one else said it so despite being a year late, but he got the ISF switch backwards. The side he thought was the British side was the American and vise versa. The American side is more modern and slight mid scooped on heavy tones. The British side pushes the mids higher making the sound more even, but muddy. It's usually best to put in someplace in the middle on that dial to get a happy medium between the two.

  • @sid35gb
    @sid35gb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I’ve just spent a couple of hours playing with this amp head it’s good. Ola missed a trick with this amp because some effort has been spent on the power section he needs to gun the master volume and use the channel volume to control the loudness and it will behave like a tube amp. It does need tweaking in software to get the built in noise gates to trigger when you want them to the current presets lean towards high gain settings so quite aggressive. I haven’t played with the EQ section yet much apart from the mids. I used the resonance instead of bass (even at bedroom volume through a 2x12 this will make the room shake) and presence instead of treble.
    This amp is the first amp I have used where I like pretty much all the voices. I’m really fussy about high gain tone this is the first amp where I actually liked them. The bright clean setting is pretty cool too manage to achieve blues and unbelievably surf tones as well.
    It’s not perfect set it wrong and it will sound shit and digital set get it right and it will reward you with some very expensive sounding tones.

    I'm sure someone has pointed this out by now, but what he's telling us about the ISF knob is backwards. Fully counter clockwise is American, and fully clockwise has a British characteristic. He didn't care much for the British side. Not that that's a deal breaker or anything. And seriously man, I ain't hatin' on anyone. This is a very good demo for anyone considering this amp. The ISF knob isn't designed to be used full chug. For heavy tones, at 0 all the way. For country or blues tones it can be useful to fill out the frequency range which creates "honk" when the sound is too saturated

    Hey Ola, greetings from the states. I'm no professional, but something really sticks out about this tone that I really dig, even with the room mics. It made me think that you should do some kind of tutorial to use room/lavaliere mics in heavy guitar mixes. I think that would be epic.

    when you turn up the channel volume its like turning up the power on a tube power amp. the actual master volume is just controlling the real volume but wont give you that power tube roar like the channel volume will.

    • @lewisw5366
      @lewisw5366 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what i was thinking the whole time, The channel volume was extremely low, may of been crippling the punch?

    • @Van020280
      @Van020280 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, the channel volumes affect the preamp.
      The master volume affects the power section.

    • @sid35gb
      @sid35gb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s incorrect. Channel volume controls pre amp, Master volume controls power amp. Driven power amp is what most players crave but don’t know it. Try maxing the master and controlling the loudness with the channel volume. I bet it will make you smile 😊 have fun now.

    • @HellionBlade90
      @HellionBlade90 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you read the manual it explains you get power amp distortion by turning up the channel volume. Remember that this is a digital amp. Turning up the channel volume (paraphrasing)"simulates overdriving the power section of a tube amp"

    • @HellionBlade90
      @HellionBlade90 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Found it verbatim: . Volume
      This controls the preamp volume. Turning it clockwise increases the volume.
      High levels of volume will introduce the effect of valve power amp distortion and
      compression, depending on the TVP (9) setting you have selected. This setting is
      saved when you store a patch.

  • @wickedgit

    I got that head and for me it really chugs like a monster specially with the 6l6 setting...and even with the EL34 setting. I use it with my Kustom jr 4×12 with 4 celestion 65w speakers witch produce a lot of bass and creats a lot of bottom end...it also can produce som good classic rock tones pretty well. I like that amp....it doesent have to be far too loud either to sound good....cause it is.... digital.

    A lack of sounding "real" was also my biggest criticism of the TVP series. I really tried to get into the 60 and 100 heads, but they really felt two-dimensional to play through.

    • @sid35gb
      @sid35gb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Silverline needs to have the master volume maxed and it sounds incredibly real. The only caveat is you need enough volume to get the speakers to move properly.
      Don’t do that and it will sound as you describe.

    "Ola Englund" You have the ISF backwards. While facing the amp turn ISF to counterclockwise or left is American clockwise or right is British while facing the amp. So you liked the American side! I don't know why but Blackstar always has the full British sound too muddy!
    When you did the Blackstar HT-1 "will it chug review? You said it perfectly, You said: "Sounds like you put a blanket over it". However, if you put it almost to the middle a hair past noon on Brit side it takes some of the mid-scooped tone out, especially on the HT-1
