one of the most exciting and incredible musical meetings of my entire life, JP has been a hero of mine for years ever since my friend and great must Steafan Hannigan introduced me to his music. This was literally the first time we actually met and ever played together, and it was on stage at the incredible Celtic Colours festival, its the best flat picking of celtic tunes I have ever witnessed... ever.
+Tim, That coming from you is the best honour any musician could wish, as you are also one of the very best. It's the perfect blended dram, even I prefer a single malt :-D We just require more of this stuff.
Words of respect from one, who's words carry weight, to one who deserves them. If anyone listens to this music and watches Tims chordining , you have to be impressed with how much fun they are having.
This is astonishing in so many ways. To flatpick tunes like that Mr Cormier would have had to put in HOURS of prep. Here he shows incredible composure, technique and focus while playing with a complete stranger. Mr Edey, on the other hand, is feeling his way through. At lightning speed. He's never met him before, yet he is so tuned in to Mr Cormier's playing that he is able to respond to his playing quicker than we can digest what we're hearing. He is LISTENING incredibly quickly. I'm both amazed at what a virtuoso is able to prepare, AND I'm amazed at what the virtuoso next to him is able to make up on the spot. It's like a set piece versus an improvised counter attack. Except here everybody wins! :)
I keep this in my archives and bring it out every now and then. It never fails to lift my spirits and put a smile on my face. It's hard to believe these two never played together before. They are incredibly in sync. with each other and their artistry is self-evident. Thank you so much for this video.
OMG! I have been trying to play for over 50 years and have seen and hear many of the greats, but this is unbelievable. Both of these guys are beyond, no, WAY beyond things I can only dream of!
I travelled from Perth Scotland to the tiny, remote village of Walls in the west of Shetland to watch these two play together at the Shetland Folk Festival 2019. A Once in a Lifetime Oppor-chance-ity, as Rikki would have said. No language can do justice to the experience so I won't try.
I was in that audience that day -- the first surprise was JP in that bright red shirt but his picking with the break neck triplets sucked the oxygen out of the room that day! Like to know who the 15 complete dopes who down voted this video are!

Good morning JP. I’m just wondering if you want us to use only tablature or if there is a possibility to use scales as well. Are any of the videos using just scales?

Look at that economy of movement, he literally Is barely moving his hand and is shredding some ridiculous runs like he’s pouring a cup of tea. Sublime
Holy Dyin. That's hot stuff. World Class is it? Tell me someone.I liked it for sure.
I see below that the first song is The Mathematician, but have not been able to find the name of the second piece that begins at the 1:32 mark. Does anyone know?
It's played fairly commonly in Cape Breton; sounds like something Winston Fitzgerald would have recorded. I'll watch for a name for it .....
Judique's on the floor ! Who will put him off ? As the old dancing challenge begins.
Does anyone know the name of the tunes their playing ?
Is that a "House" guitar JP is playin ? Thanks .
+strawman8 Yes, that guitar was made for JP by Josh House.

That first tune: I used to play it on (English) concertina many years ago, but I've forgotten its name. Can someone put me out of my misery and remind me? Many thanks...
It's called "The Mathematician" and was written by the great Scottish fiddler and composer, James Scott Skinner.

Good morning JP. I’m just wondering if you want us to use only tablature or if there is a possibility to use scales as well. Are any of the videos using just scales?
