Having only played the Psx port 20 years ago as a teenager hell yeah I'm grabbing this. One of the best in its genre.
By far not the best Tactical RPG on the Switch Mark, there are much better Tactical RPGs out there on the Switch. It's all about "Square Enix Culture". People blindly gives Square Enix too much credit based on the past.

I'm in Chapter 4 and I'm actually flabbergasted at how tightly balanced and how challenging the game gets, it's a breath of fresh air coming from the PSP version, especially considering they killed all the filler and grind you had to do. Game is super hard, super balanced, pretty much impossible to cheese (they even added level caps), every class has its uses, no single class can solo the game unlike the original game.
People are treating this like a "overpriced PSP remaster", little do they know they took TO and reworked it into one of the most smartly designed tactical RPGs I have ever played, no joke. Incredible game and I have no idea how it even came out like this, all they "had" to do was port the PSP game but they went so above and beyond that it's ridiculous.
I've never played a Tactic's Ogre game but I loved FF Tactics and still own the PS1 disc. I'm definitely picking this up.
I love the Tactics Ogre series. Any SRPG fans hail this as one of the best out there. Now if they would remaster Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, then I would be in heaven. I love the grid based system but the system that the original did was amazing!

I played the crap out of ogre battle 64 as wee little highschooler, so I have a very nostalgic connection with the series. It's one of those games that I know most people do not love but was played at a a time, when I was finally starting to make my own decisions about what games I was playing and absolutely loved it. I never played any of the earlier ones but always had wanted to, so I was beyond excited about playing this one. I've heard multiple people say this is one of the best RPG's of all time so am so excited to hear it's reviewing well and cannot wait to pick it up!
I wish we get ogre battle someday
I was so excited hearing this would be from the ogre battle franchise, but i was hoping it had similar mechanics, like the auto battler with formations and all the crazy combinations depedning on the places you would put your troops, i do like tactic games, but man i wish we get ogre battle remake or reborn someday.

I would love another game like Ogre Battle. There is nothing else like it. You felt like a true General with that game. The auto-battles, campaign map, creating squads, liberating/capturing towns. It’s a wonder in all the indie developers, no one has tapped into that unique and wonderful formula. I’d love to play a game with those mechanics, even if it were a completely different series

I'm pretty pumped for this one. Never heard of it before this switch edition. I've got it tagged for a sale, I'd feel a bit better about it closer to the 20 dollar mark but it does look great
So glad it turned out well. This is a day 1 for me. I know most people are hyped about the likes of GoW Ragnarok these days, but this is my kinda jam.
I totally agree that they put good money in the music and voice acting. I had a moment of surprised realization when the Necromancer Nybeth started to speak and I thought " Wait, isn't that Keith Silverstein?" . I'm having as much fun with this game as I did the first time around on psp, no regrets!
I love FFT and FFTA, so I was always curious about this game, and people told me it was way better. And now I'll finally be able to play it! Thanks for the review, now I know what I'll be doing this weekend!

It seems like a good sign when a publisher gives reviewers keys so early. It’s like they are confident the game is good and aren’t rushing to fix a bunch of things at the last minute.

It's the definitive SRPG imo, Triangle Strategy barely held my interest until the end, while I keep coming back to TOR, the depth and replayability are so great.

A much more must buy and my tactical rpg of the year. I got my issues with Triangle and the long textboxes even in the Demo and the same goes to Octopath Traveler Demo. The Diofield Chronicle for Example did a fresh Element in that Area but also in the Demo with the 2 Ogers, I failed many times. So I hope a Final Fantasy Tactics Remake for Switch, but this one need to be bought on Switch :D
Thanks for including the fact there's voice acting. I love rpg's but I'm so much more immersed in the game if instead of having to read everything, it's also voice acted. In Xenoblade Chronicles 3, I skipped through the non-main standard quests dialogues because of that and simply completed them. I'm into rpg's for being immersed. Thanks mates!
This tactical RPG is amazing. I can't believe I missed out on this before. Been playing this since release on my Steam Deck and can't get enough.
Was the hardest tactics game time ago + perma death. Not friendly.
Still got Tactics Ogre for PSP.
And played it back on the PS1 back in the day and loved it.
Bought it for PS4 for now but will also pick it up when cheaper on the Switch.
I got the game on PS5 :) I finished the old psp version and this version is actually very filled with changes and upgrades. And it made it a bit harder cutting down on your skills in one way but now you can use both counterattack and evade
Was that "A Day at the Races" a Queen reference? Considering the title and subtitles are Queen's songs?
I've always wanted to play one of this series since the 90s, so of course is a must-buy!
Hey, Mark. Absolutely love your reviews and vids. One small suggestion - please - maybe don't be so harsh in cutting the gaps between your sentences. Just a half-second more would make it much easier to listen to and absorb. Especially for those of us who are older - I'm a 65yo gamer. Keep up the great work.

I remember playing this on SNES with a Japanese text, was able to finish the game and even went on the Deep Dungeon raid. I remember doing the Fairy full mana on a Lich and use the stage attack spell that hits all enemies. And also unlocking secret classes, Good times
I just picked this up 😁 man oh man this has to the best TRPG I have played, what a second..... I can't remember for the life of me if I played this on PSP or when it was first released, but damn 🤤 I'm loving it.

This is just an amazing game all around. I really hope that Square does something similar for the other original OB games and releases the prequels.
Really loved Triangle Strategy so I am thinking about getting it. Only slightly worried about the difficulty. Found Triangle Strategy already quite challenging and always heard that Tactics Ogre is much harder.
guest characters always getting themselves killed is annoying when your trying to follow a certain story plot.
You have the Chariot system (an unlimited rewind) which lets you retry from any point any time so don't worry too much about difficulty!
It has a bit of a steep learning curve but it is a phenomenal game. If you were ok with Triangle you should be fine. The battles in Tactics Ogre are real wars of attrition.

2022 the year of the SRPG! I’ve probably played Triangle Strategy the most out of any this year.. But TOR is right up there too.. I’ve had a lot of issues with the PSP version.. I could only make it about halfway through the game for whatever reason.. Although I did love it up until the point where I got stuck.. Seems like they got it perfect this time though and tweaked it making it far more streamlined and even more addictive..
The depth and replay ability seems through the roof much in the vein of full on strategy games such as Sid Meiers Civilization and the like..
I literally updated and modded a GBA for a copy of Tactics Ogre Lotis King. It took months and then I finally got it... A day before this game released (I didn't find out until a few days before release)... So unfortunately I haven't played the GBA version BUT I've dug in 24 hours into the switch version lol love this game

This is one of the greatest games of all time
Same fun as 20 years go when I played for the first game as a kid. Voice acting, new menu and nice intro are great addition. Buff cards where not needed. SQ shoud do more for charaters graphics, but sill worth buing for great story, characters and music.

In final fantasy ta tics and in Fell Seal, you get exp for every action you do. A fun side effect is beating up and healing your own team when the battle is almost won.
Maybe that’s why they let you attack your team in this game, as well?
Yes. The training mode will even turn into you beating your own team members for leveling them up eventually.
@@theLikou1 the training thing is also in Knight of Lodis, still, I prefer random battles, I only used the training to use the consumable boosts. Unless Team B is used by the AI.

@@InnerRise It's the easiest way. You just put someone with the higher level there and everyone else beat the shit out of him to level up quickly.
This is one of the games I been waiting for. I honestly didn't know what the game entitled. I just saw on Amazon it was a Rpg in the sane style as octopath traveler and I was sold. Yet to buy it. But I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it
I like how people are still saying that this is the exact same game as the original, complaining that it shouldn't be more than 20$ and the proceed to go and buy the "new" FIFA or COD for full price

I played the hell out of the psp version. Had it on ny psp, had it on my phone, had it on my laptop and played the amazing One Vision mod and this game is amazing. To improve it to this level needless to say was a fever dream for me and cant wait to play it on the switch later today.

I still have Tactics Ogre on the PSP! One of the best trpg ever. Will definitely buy this for the switch and on steam as well cause why not. Now, let's hope for FF Tactics on the switch in the future.
I just hope the pacing is better than in Triangle Strategy regarding story scenes, but it does indeed look promising.
If any of you are interested in tactics, this is the best one bar none. I really love the GBA game Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis, but this is the the other of the greatest tactics rpg
I remember really enjoying the Knight of Lodis but for some reason I stopped playing. I can't remember anything about the story though. I don't know why it didn't grab me. On the flip side FFT made such an impression on me that it blew my young mind with how awesome it is. I've been hearing Tactics Ogre is even better than FFT so I seriously can't wait to get my hands on this.

I was hoping you would be able to bring light to the resolution of the game on the switch. I can't find information on this anywhere. I'm hoping 1080p docked and 720p handheld.
