This is what made Peter's decision to be a hero tough. His girlfriend's, seemingly, ordinary father is the main villian.

He already knew though. Knew his name clearly, didn't react to the akward look except with some slight intimidation. His wife is used to him forgetting the name apparently with him using another name. He was testing him as Peter and spiderman
@@wubbalubbadubdub5867 no I don't think it was that obvious, he only puts two and two together in the car when it's apparent every moment Spiderman was there, peter disappeared. All the small things such as his familiar voice, pale look and strong grip from the hand shake confirmed it.

@@wubbalubbadubdub5867 yeah, he definitely suspected it by the time they stopped at the light. At that point, he was prodding Peter in a way that would not only confirm his suspicions, but would also tip off Peter that he knew. The green light is more of a "gotcha" than a lightbulb.
Michael Keaton was more legitimately terrifying with a handgun than Thanos, red skull, or any other superpower being in the MCU. He turns around in the front seat and sh!t just gets real.
Two reasons 1. For a lot of young men, this scene is relatable. The tension and nervousness about hearing it from your date’s father 2. It’s more grounded. This scene isn’t dependent on CGI or fantasy weapons. It’s just simply a man with a gun without his exosuit or weapons threatening a superhuman teenager to go have a good time with his daughter and don’t be a hero or he’ll face the consequences.
@@Wolf-wc1js also what is Peter going to do? Kick his ass and be like yeah he's the leader of an underground crime group who steals weapons. He was stuck, at this point no one knows he is Spider-Man besides vulture.
Yeah, Michael Keaton is amazing. Check out his villainous part in 90's movie called Pacific Heights. He should have played much more roles like that and The Vulture.
I mean when your in a room with a guy who wants to wipe out a country and a guy who wants to murder you and your loved ones specifically. You will focus more on the person that has a direct effect on your personal safety, since you fear them on a more personal level
And they repeated it with Willem Dafoe. Spider-Man has the best villains for that exact reason. For the most part, they are just regular people in extreme situations.
"You saved my daughter's life, so I'm not going to kill you for interfering with my schemes. But you do it again, and we'll have to do this super-villain style". Gotta respect Vulture for having a code.
I like how Adrian is pretty much a chill dad before he finds out that Peter's Spider Man.
He's even chill once he figures it out because he doesn't really want to deal with Spiderman & just wants Peter to stay out of his way. He's a blue collar supervillain who's just out to make a dishonest living, not to change or conquer the world.

Spider's are not famous for acting casual, more like standing in one spot hoping to not be noticed

He’s a kid and he’s in the car with a guy he just found out is the same arms dealer and literal murderer he’s been chasing down for a few weeks. It’s a lot to process silently by himself, especially considering this is his first few months as a superhero. He’s quite literally learning as he goes like most of them do but again he’s a kid, he’s gonna make mistakes.

Something that kinda bothers me though about him figuring out Peter’s Spider-Man though? How is it Liz didn't realize it? She basically was able to lay out the ground work for her dad to put the pieces together.
@@michaelgualtieri651 she probably just wasn't thinking about it much. She wasn't really interested on who Spider-Man was. He was giving her father problems more then he was her. She just thought Spider-Man was cool and just kinda rolled with the fact that Peter used to hang out with him.

One is interested to find out who Spider Man is, the other isn't. When you look for an answer, you're better at getting to it than someone who's not, even if you both have the same clues.
I absolutely did NOT see that coming. Absolute master class on how to do a solid plot twist. Also, I see everyone talking about Keaton's incredible acting, but Tom also did an amazing job. You can hear the lump in his throat building up as he struggles to keep making excuses. Sure, he COULD have grabbed the pistol with his super reflexes and strength, but he's still just a teenager, who's been doing this only for six months, of course he'd be scared shitless by an adult who just caught him off guard and threatened to kill him.
I think after the ferry incident, Peter was starting to question the validity of his powers and his effectiveness as a hero in general, which is why he said to Tony, "I'm nothing without the suit."
The way Michael Keaton chokeholds this scene is so underrated!!! When he looks in the rearview mirror and says "good ole Spiderman".......masterful!!!!

I like how like in real life, it's not hard for Michael Keaton's character to guess the real identity of the superhero. It's just common sense, particularly for someone whom is not only shrewd, but is a good judge of character.
Yeah he just put pieces together like whoa this guy has a good grip… then he recognised his voice and his body type… then liz says he always disappears…. Remember spidey is always in nyc so him being in dc that day is a very weird occurance so then he has his suspicion and says oh it must’ve been scared being in the elevator…. When Peter says he was down looking up, toombes knew he was spidey and the best part is Peter never screwed up! He just deduced it using pure logic!
@@SuperJutah And he's smart about it. If he's wrong, he hasn't said anything incriminating to Peter. He never mentions that he's vulture, or that Peter's spiderman. If he's wrong, all he's done is intimidate a high school kid to keep him away from his daughter. It's overkill, but nothing that'll ruin his cover.

The lighting in these scenes is great! Vulture hangs out in the kitchen where the light is because Peter knows who he is, while Peter hangs out in the darkness because his identity is unknown. The car is dark and mysterious, but when Vulture finally figures it out the stop light covers him in green, a double sign for being correct and a call to his green costume color
Has gotta be one of my favorite Spider-man scenes from any Spider-man movies. Michael Keaton is just stellar!

The fact that he could kill the Vulture with a single punch but he got quite scared shows how immature was Peter here. He was just a boy with a fancy suit, not THE Spider-Man. Nice to see a good character development.

I haven't seen this in a long time and damn it's spot-on. Easily the most terrifying MCU villain. Just a dad with a gun trying to protect his family.
Trying to protect himself*. He, like most villains, is a self-righteous hypocrite. If he wants to help his family then he'll go to prison and do the moral thing... Instead he resorted to threatening a teenager. This is what Vulture is... An animal. Sadly this was young spiderman cuz if he was full grown spiderman the moment he threatened his family he'd be throwing vulture head first through the car window.
this is, by far, my favorite scene in the movie, and one of the best written, acted and performed scenes in all of the MCU.

Tom Holland is such a good actor. He actually looks like he's pretty tense when he's in the car with Vulture. The whole scene creates a sense of tension. It's so good. 👍🏽

His entire life is in jeopardy because Vulture knows everything about him and has his daughter to leverage. Peter could rip vulture to pieces but his moral code, his lack of experience and care for Liz leaves him helpless here.

I've never been a fan of Tom's Spiderman movies but this scene proves all the "Peter was too immature and childish" complaints wrong. You can see how legitimately bothered he is by Vulture hiding his criminal activities from his family and his refusal to cooperate with Vulture's threats. He was always a hero, he just needed to learn a few things.
Spiderman: "Beatlejuice, Beatlejuice....Beatlejuice."
Vulture: "It's showtime!"
I can't be the only one who wished Vulture was the sixth member of the Sinister Six in No Way Home because that would've worked perfectly.
And he could've had an excuse to be enemies with Peter again. Sure Peter saved Liz in the elevator crash, but he also CAUSED the crash in the first place by giving Ned the energy core. If Adrian found out, he could be angry.

I think the Vulture was kinda mid until this scene, the dynamic between them changing so much after the reveal had a real strong impact

Another take I saw someone mention is that it turns green as soon as he's sure Peter is Spider-man which I think is pretty cool too.

I can think of a few reasons.
This is such a high quality scene. The actors, the dialogue, the acting -- not a 'Marvel movie' but just a great movie of its own.
I know I'm not a professional screenwriter, but I really wanted the line to be a third beat of "That's the right answer" instead of "You're welcome" at the end there. Maybe they tried it and didn't like how it sounded, I dunno.
Imagine if Peter said to Toomes after he saved his life, he repeated what he told him, "Hey, I just saved your life. Now, what do you say?"
Toombes must be the first movie villain in history to figure out the hero’s identity just off common sense

Keaton's Vulture is the perfect mix of antagonism, common sense, intellect, and nobility. He is breaking the law, but he has reasons for it, and although he would love to kill Peter right there, he acknowledges the act he could never repay of Peter saving his daughter's life. It is transactional, but wholly believable as a loving father who is still engaged in shady sh*t.

I just noticed an interesting Easter egg. The green light hitting the Vulture when he said “good ol‘ Spider-Man” had to be intentional foreshadowing. The comic rendition of the vulture is all green.

The fact that Spider-Man can crush this guy like an empty beer can and yet was so intimidated by his presence speaks volumes to how great a villain Vulture is. People forget, the scariest villain isn’t the one who can beat you up or use magic. The scariest villain is the one who has you figured out and can take away all that you love without so much as a blink of his eye. Peter is vulnerable because he is dating Vultures daughter and thus can’t just kill or cripple vultures without losing her. Vulture has nothing to stand between him and killing Peter and everyone he loves. I miss villains like this.
Michael Keaton was the working class hero of this movie.
Scenes like this highlight why Clark Kent is such a good disguise, he acts so clumsy and goofy that its hard to see him as Superman. But Spiderman, despite wearing a full mask, breaks down and lets his inner Spiderman show during situations like this

Peter Tingle didn't tingle. His tingle tingles only when it's convenient for the plot, it seems.
Before the final battle in FFH, his senses came and went because the output was too much for him to handle. He said in Civil War, his homemade Spider-Man mask helped him to harass his enhanced senses and made him focus. After that, it was consistent.

Far from home is great, if you nit pick a movie to death it’s really easy to come to hate it. Same thing can be said about most of the MCU movies but people just pick and choose which ones they want to be “flawed” these movies are literally all the same just with different hero’s in each franchise.
